Apologies fir waking anybody up , but Good morning and a Happy Christmas to you all!
There has been much tiptoeing and whispering going on as those of you with GC staying or who are visiting family with little ones will be experiencing. Can’t we all remember those happy days days when we struggled through Christmas Day on a minimum of sleep - it used to seem like barely an hour between tiptoeing into bedrooms with the stockings and “HE’S BEEN!”
My Christmas started with a magical Christingle service yesterday then home for mulled wine and to dry out as it was chucking it down.
For those of you alone - not by choice- or with worries and sadness, I hope the spirit of Christmas will envelop you like a warm hug and bring you comfort and strength for the days to come.
God bless us every one!

Good morning all from Durham. It’s just getting light here but it’s dry.
Neighbours’ get together outside at 11 - own glass and fizz. DD2, SiL and DGS2 due around 12 for lunch.
Disaster last night when the waste disposal detritus blocked the pipes! Can’t shift it, so the kitchen sink is out of order, as is the dishwasher as they’re all connected. Bit of a bu**er, but I can use the utility room sink until I can get some unblocked stuff.
Onwards and upwards.
Merry Christmas ?

Good Morning all from a cloudy Wiltshire.
Wishing you all a very happy Christmas and sending love to all who are going to find today difficult .
I have been a lurker for several years and you lovely people have kept me going through an especially difficult year.
I have family coming for lunch so had better get a move on.
Have the best day possible x

Happy Christmas from Middleham, I am drinking tea in bed listening to horses hooves on cobbles as the racehorses are ridden out to the gallops at the far end of the village.
Our holiday let sits in front of Richard 111’s castle, the only thing we are missing is a dusting of snow!

Best wishes to all and particularly those of you who are missing loved ones this Christmas.

Good morning everyone and a very happy Christmas to you all from a very wet East Northants. DD has just taken the dogs out and I'm sitting here in a very quiet house with my first cup of tea. Quiet also because DD's husband is over in Northern Ireland supporting his DM as his father is in hospital after a stroke and likely to be in for a few weeks. He will be back for New Year hopefully.

Desperate cry from DS's family yesterday, had I any spare LFT tests! None to be had for love nor money locally. Luckily I was able to oblige with a new pack. Elder DGD and her mum needed to do one before yesterday's panto performance and they all wanted to do one this morning before coming here. Leaves me with just the one spare test, tried to order more yesterday, but no availability.

DD and I enjoyed fish and chips last night while enjoying Carols from Kings, followed by the Duchess of Cambridge's Carol service. I knew a family who attended that one and was watching carefully to see if I could see them, and think I caught a back view!

DS and family arrive mid/late morning, but before that we shall be having a smoked salmon breakfast.

Safe travels to all on the road, and have a lovely day.

Merry Christmas everyone.
Was up at 6 to put what seems like an ostrich in the oven.
DH stayed at his Mums last night ( long story) but will be here with her a little later. DGS 3 who is 19 stayed here and seems to think it was me who sneeked a Christmas stocking in his room last night !

3 more family joining us for lunch.
Wishing all a peaceful day however you are ( or not) celebrating.?

Good morning and a very Happy Christmas to all from coastal West Sussex.

Lateral flow test to be done before setting off for DD1’s home, only 50 minutes drive away.. She is at work until 2 but SiL and GCs, 17 and 15, may have emerged from under their duvets by the time we get there!
We will combine forces to get the turkey on, set the table etc before DD gets home.

Hope for a lovely day for all GMers. Thoughts with those who are grieving.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 25-Dec-21 08:48:08

Happy Christmas dear friends

We have been up since 6.30am The Imp and 6yr old are full of tiggers bounces DD is equally excited. As it’s pouring with rain here in S E Essex they will not be out on their new scooters today.

Turkey about to go in, then lots of FaceTime with our sons and families.

Wishing you all a peaceful and joyous day, wherever you are, whatever you are doing ??????????

Happy Christmas everyone from a very windy Derbyshire.

LadyGaGa Sat 25-Dec-21 08:55:58

Merry Christmas to all ??! DS and DGD have the old Covid and I saw him yesterday so off for PCR this morn as I felt a bit ropey last night. Vulnerable people in family so plans have all changed. Don’t want to dampen the mood, so feeling grateful for all that we have. DSD still coming for lunch for lunch with kids as she would be alone otherwise and lots to look forward to next year though so feeling a bit sad but blessed. Enjoy your day all! Thoughts for those with real worries xxx

LadyGaGa Sat 25-Dec-21 08:57:48

LFT negative by the way. Wouldn’t put family at that much risk ?

Lilibill Sat 25-Dec-21 09:00:34

Good morning from a damp north London, decided to dip my toe in after being a lurker for a while ( thanks Mary doll ) for giving me the prompt to post , better get going as I have 10 for Xmas lunch and it will not cook itself, no grandchildren sadly all adults , do miss seeing and hearing the joy of children opening. Their presents ?,wishing you all a very merry Xmas and enjoy the day whatever you are doing xxxx

Curlywhirly Sat 25-Dec-21 09:01:14

Good Morning from Cheshire. Just popped in to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. All quiet here at the moment. Our youngest son will be here at 10.30 for bacon butties and present opening then we are all off to our other son's to open presents with the grandchildren and then sit down to Christmas Dinner. Feels strange not cooking Christmas Dinner myself, but I could certainly get used to it! Take care everyone and hope you all have a lovely day. ?????

Nana3 Sat 25-Dec-21 09:03:35

Merry Christmas to everyone.
This true story in a nutshell; our town centre crib was vandalised and baby Jesus was taken. Late one night the following week he was found under a tree in the town square and returned to the stable.
If only I knew how to send a link for a photograph, sorry.

Redhead56 Sat 25-Dec-21 09:05:34

Merry Christmas everyone and a healthy New Year?

Pantglas2 Sat 25-Dec-21 09:09:12

Feliz Navidad from a wet Espana ?? - the Andalusian weatherbarn hasn’t replenished its ? yet but they promise a delivery on Boxing Day ?

Lovely to see the Read Only(s) out in force for the festivities ?? and I hope all travellers arrive in a safe and timely manner!

We’re joining four friends for lunch and I’ve prepped smoked salmon and Philly pinwheels for the starter, Champagne is chilling and a (bought ?) meringue dessert as our contribution to the Xmas table.

Special thoughts for those with troubles at the moment and hope you can have a better day ?

mumofmadboys Sat 25-Dec-21 09:09:50

Still in bed in Cumbria. Up soon for bath, toast and church at 10. Only 4 of us for veggie Christmas lunch- and largely all prepared. Wishing everyone a happy Christmas! Especially thinking of those who are lonely or sad.
May the Peace of the Christ Child be with us all.

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Happy Christmas

Auntieflo Sat 25-Dec-21 09:14:47

Well, my post disappeared. We seem to have a dodgy connection this morning. Hope it doesn't bode ill for later on.
Happy Christmas to Maw and Annie, and those who have not posted for ages. Hello there Bellasnana.
We will be chauffeured to DD this morning and home again tomorrow, by our wonderful son in law.
Sending greetings to all who have been through sad times this year.
Have a peaceful day, excited GC permitting.

muse Sat 25-Dec-21 09:17:49

Mollygo Sat 25-Dec-21 09:18:51

Merry Christmas everyone from a windy north Lancs. Christmas dinner is ready to cook, except for the devils on horseback which I’m just preparing for me and my son-in-law since the rest of the family prefer pigs in blankets.
We’re off for a walk along the sea front to admire all the dogs in Christmas costumes.
Hope you all have a good day, alone or with family.

dustyangel Sat 25-Dec-21 09:20:10

Happy Christmas to you all and wishing each and everyone of you a happy, healthy day.

EllanVannin Sat 25-Dec-21 09:20:20

Good Morning and a Merry Christmas to All x.
So dark this morning but it's dry and doesn't feel too cold.

Cats fed, except old Tom who lives in the kennel outside. I imagine as soon as I open the living room curtains his face will be pressed against the patio door---with his " one-eye" which doesn't stop him from missing anything grin

I'm pretty well organised for my dinner later with turkey crown cooked yesterday and remembered to soak the peas last night, so along with sprouts it's perhaps a good job I'll be dining alone grin

D will pop in later on if she can manage it. GD can hold the fort as she'll be with the children today. I have a stack of presents waiting for them all. I can imagine the racket at D's right now, something I remember years ago with shrieks of " look what I've got ", happy times. The innocent excitement of magic.

Loved your OP Maw with its memories, thankyou.
Lovely to see what everyone's doing and planning for the day. Travellers take care, though I visualise the roads being clearer than of late, stay safe.

To those not up to the day, I hope things improve as you go along flowers
How lovely to see the " readers " amongst us as well as those regulars who've had long breaks .*Bellasnana*, good to see you too.

Must throw the clothes on now and flick the flannel over my face just to show there's no ill feeling.
I hope you all have a lovely day. Take care and stay safe. xx
