Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but looks dry outside here in brackley .
The last of the bank holidays now until mid April , must start to plan my year ahead with holiday breaks etc .
I have got that used to staying in , its slightly changed my routine , mind the xmas break ,gave an opportunity to see others both on the coach I was on, and from elsewhere.
Take care,
Mick

Good morning from a dark E Kent.
Did you have that storm yesterday afternoon? Wasn’t it as horrible as it was unexpected? Hope today is quieter.
We shall have a rather introspective day as DS is taking the train to Heathrow in an hour. He is very anxious regarding the several PCRtests required, the possible isolation in Delhi (I don’t think so) and all the train/plane changes with his hand. Although much much better, it is still sore, poor thing.
We played 49 of the 50 tasks in the game “Crew”. The remaining task is for June! ?
I hope those in need of consolation or courage may have it in abundance. Carpe diem ?????

Alizarin Mon 03-Jan-22 06:30:06

Good morning from a damp but brightening south Cornwall. Reconfiguring my flat today after my (blind) daughter goes home to Liverpool. The furniture gets shifted in my tiny home so she can move around freely when she stays. A lovely family meal at Wetherspoons last night with all my kids and grandkids, a rare event and very special. (Yes Marydoll, the fruit trees are flourishing!)

Gagagran Mon 03-Jan-22 06:36:39

Good Morning everyone from a dark and still mild south coast.

We didn't have the storm yesterday afternoon Mattie but it did rain - again. DH is hoping to prune the roses today if it stays fine so I hope it does.

We had a welcome and surprise visit from DD yesterday afternoon. She decided she needed some air and exercise after all the inactivity of the festive season so put on her walking boots and called in for a cuppa, after a muddy walk.

I hope your DS has a trouble free journey today Mattie and that his sore hand improves quickly. You will not settle until you hear that he is back, I suspect!

Have the best day you can everyone. sunshine

Good Morning from a dark NE Hants, no idea what the weather is (yet). The last of the Christmas decorations will, I hope, be all put away to-day. I'm hoping to make a fish pie, a change from all the turkey and other Christmas fayre. Off for a swim session at 10 for Ladies only, which is always relaxing. One daughter is coming with me and I am then visiting the other who is recovering from a bout of tonsillitis. We will both socially distance, just in case.
A lovely day is wished all.

monk08 Mon 03-Jan-22 07:22:12

Good morning all from a wet Black country, was hoping to meet DS and family in the park but looks like a change of plan will wait for the phone call.
Nice to see you posting again Alizarin
Still got tree up will take it down later then let the duster out of hiding to have a little play.
Enjoy your day and may you all find some ?.

Good morning from North Wales. A bit chillier this morning but we have had very mild temperatures lately.
Last of the holidays and back to normal for me from tomorrow. I still have Christmas treats to finish and then a more frugal diet I think to lose some weight.
Have a good Monday everyone.

kittylester Mon 03-Jan-22 07:27:07

Good morning all from a still dark North Leicestershire. It poured with rain about 6 o'clock but seems to have stopped now. I hope so as our gardener is coming to tidy up.

Marydoll Mon 03-Jan-22 07:30:21

Good morning all from what sounds like a wet Glasgow.

I have no plans at all for today, but it will be a quiet one, at home, I know that for certain. My only task is too send an online birthday card to my difficult sister in law, I forgot this was January!!!

Wishing your son a safe journey home today, GM and keeping Granny Somerset, her DH and family in my prayers.
Gingster, hoping to hear better news of your daughter and Baubles, fingers crossed for mild symptoms.
For all who are struggling ?

brook2704 Mon 03-Jan-22 07:33:14

Good morning everyone from our last morning in Cambridge where it looks like it’s been raining overnight. We didn’t see a storm here yesterday afternoon GM but it did rain. Hoping your DS has a good journey back to India and his hand recovers fully soon
Sounds like you enjoyed a lovely family time yesterday Alizarin
Today we’re leaving mid afternoon for our flight home to Inverness this evening. The days here have passed really quickly and we’ve had a lovely time.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Urmstongran Mon 03-Jan-22 07:33:20

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s just getting light. I can see the red tail lights of a plane winking as it descends into Manchester airport in the distance. We shall be on one of those on Friday. I’m already excited. It should have been today but we let the flights go, as I want to attend a family funeral in Oldham on Thursday.

No plans at all for us. Nada. Zilch. Nice. We might stroll over to the little family later. Get coffees to go on the way. They all go back to school and work tomorrow. I will phone first - even though they live nearby I don’t just call in. Our son-in-law is lovely but I never want him to feel ‘oh it’s them again’! Our daughter reassures me he likes it when we call - we play with the children ha! - but I don’t want to push my luck.
?

No Matt yet. Must still be enjoying his Christmas break. Enjoy Monday all who can. x

cornergran Mon 03-Jan-22 07:33:48

Morning Mick, morning All from a damp corner of Somerset.

No storm yesterday grandMattie but goodness didn't the rain come down for an hour. Managed a short walk before which cheered me, energy low, germs still in abundance.

Financial stuff to sort, must concentrate today if I can locate my awol ability to think. Also packing some of Christmas away. I’ll miss the lights. May keep some.

Thinking of all with sadness and worries. Hope Monday is kind to us all.

Urmstongran Mon 03-Jan-22 07:40:08

We had absolutely torrential rain for an hour yesterday lunchtime grandMattie. Once it stopped though the blue sky with some sun was back!

Feelingmyage55 Mon 03-Jan-22 07:41:43

Good morning from the north of Scotland. We were supposed to see family yesterday for the first time and yet again it was cancelled due to one of the family with a positive test. I confess to being relieved as I know he enjoys a hectic social life and thought it was risky. He is fully valued so hopefully he will be fine. Thank goodness for these quick tests.
May I recommend the Christmas Science lectures on the BBC - not just for children - worth watching carefully. JVT is great and appearances from other inspiring scientist - lots of lady professors.
*grandMattie”. Thinking about you but so glad your DS got home from India. Now you know it is doable.
To everyone, I enjoy reading although I have posted so little recently, been somewhat under the weather, but improving.

Feelingmyage55 Mon 03-Jan-22 07:43:13

Vaxxed auto correct. I did proofread but he is a valued manger of the family! (As are they all).

maydonoz Mon 03-Jan-22 07:43:15

Good morning to all from Herts and belated Happy New Year!
Hoping you all had a happy Christmas and New Year and a good start to 2022.
Here, with us it has been pretty busy but lovely as well.
We spent Christmas Day with DS1 and family, our first time in forty four years not hosting and away from home. It was a nice treat.
Unfortunately our DS3 could not join us on the day as he was still isolating after having Covid but two days later he was able to come to us for a late Christmassy lunch.
Then on New Year's Eve DS2, DIL and latest baby grandson (three and half months now) came to celebrate the New Year and stay over which was lovely.
Now just getting back to normal and today I will try to find a calendar and top up fruit and veg shopping.
Hoping 2022 will be a good year for all of us, and that those with cares and worries will be supported and comforted.

Daisytwoshoes Mon 03-Jan-22 07:48:01

Morning all don’t know what the weather is doing yet .but it sounds windy out there .DH has just brought me my first cuppa of the day .he’s off to golf in a mo . .so I have a quiet morning on my own .
Not got any plans for today .it’s back to normal tomorrow looking after DGS2 and the school run .so will make the most of today and relax .
Take care everyone, .thoughts to those with troubles or are feeling under the weather ?

Ashcombe Mon 03-Jan-22 07:52:35

Good morning, all from an overcast Torbay.

Yesterday, after church, we made a brief visit to the larger Lidl store to take advantage of the special offers on various supports, a brace, back heat pad, etc! Exciting shopping! As we left, torrential rain greeted us for which neither of us was adequately dressed! But we didn’t experience the aforementioned thunderstorm, although DH read the warnings.

Good luck to your DS, grandMattie, with his travel plans; this testing regime for travellers takes some organising. I hope he can soon see the surgeon to complete the removal of the pins from his hand.

Yes, welcome to Alizarin and I hope Susan56 and her DH continue to recover. Two of my neighbours in the apartment block have had Covid over Christmas but are recovering. One is a single mother with two small girls who've also been ill.

The last day of the holiday for those in work - hope it’s a good one. ?????

Grandmadinosaur Mon 03-Jan-22 07:57:03

Good morning from East Yorkshire . It is dry after rain overnight. No storm here yesterday.
Got the decorations down yesterday and put away. I too have a particular light arrangement that I leave out for a while longer. Collected my M&S order and did a little top up shop of fresh items. We hadn’t got round to watching Call the midwife from Christmas Day so watched it when the new episode was on last night and will catch up during the week.

Nothing planned for today DH just left for a walk and brought my cup of tea in bed. I’ve been to the couple of places I wanted to this holiday so who knows what today will bring. Perhaps will meet the family.

Safe journey home Brook
Take care everyone.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 03-Jan-22 07:59:34

Good morning Mick and all

Today is The Imps 2nd Birthday ? where have those years gone? We are going to a local family run restaurant for a late lunch/early dinner with his cousins and AS 3&4 and wives. I think it will be noisy chaos ??

Not sure anything will get done during the day other than check to see I haven’t missed any Christmas decorations when putting them away (already found four little ones in the kitchen)

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

NanKate Mon 03-Jan-22 08:02:02

Morning Mick and All

A clear morning here in South Bucks hope the sun comes out like yesterday it raised my spirits.

Sent you a reply to your pm Marydoll.

Saw some fab photos of our 2 grandsons at the Harry Potter exhibition in Watford. It looked really good and not tacky.

Enjoy the last Bank Hols for a while folks.

baubles Mon 03-Jan-22 08:03:28

Good morning Mick, morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

I hope your DS’s journey back goes smoothly gMattie.

I barely got off the couch yesterday and felt exhausted by the the end of the day but I will have to summon up energy from somewhere to take down the Christmas decorations today. I was always a ‘never before twelfth night’ person but this hasn’t been a normal Christmas.

Thank you for all your good wishes. Enjoy whatever the day brings.

Grammaretto Mon 03-Jan-22 08:08:18

Good morning all from the windy Scottish Borders. I struggled out with the glass bottle recycling but had already missed the paper and plastic. Neighbour's bin content was flying all over the road. shock
The electrician is supposed to be coming this morning to get on with my kitchen.
A df is coming for soup and a sandwich later.
It is still dark here.
Hope your days go well. I find the dark days after Christmas hard.

Stilllearning Mon 03-Jan-22 08:22:49

Good morning from still dark S Lanarkshire, the road sounds wet outside.

Back home and contemplating the new year, the usual vague feelings of miraculously improving or at least keeping the house a bit tidier!

Making a start on that today and hopefully including a decent walk. Also going to contact a few people who are well overdue a phone call.

As ever, thinking about those of us needing special support, you are in my prayers. grandMattie, GrannySomerset?

Hope everyone has a decent day and that you are not feeling too bad baubles and I join with others in saying a welcome hello again to Alizarin ???

What a wonderful surprise we both got yesterday when our north of Scotland family called in unexpectedly for a visit. It sure passed the day but boy we were both exhausted after they left. thanks
Must taste my dds homemade soup today. smile

Visitors coming today for a mid morning coffee and news catch up. There’s gonna be tears on all sides.

Needing virtual hugs today.sad
