My favourite shops are charity shops, which shops are your favourite ?

i do not like shopping, even for food, but i do like charity shops, i am a primark (mens joggers and t-shirts) and studio person for clothes so charity shops give me a chance to buy things i would never see. i went to visit my dad in england and his town had so many charity shops i had to get another small case to bring them back, my local marie curie is great with all tops 99p, they are also great for bags, dvds, cds and trinkets. some of the big name charity shops are also cleaner than some supermarkets.

Book shops mostly, but love a browse around Anthropologie picking up pretty thinks I don’t need.
I’m not keen on clothes shopping anymore.

Some of our customers are old friends, so much so that some of them don’t come in to buy but for a cuppa and a chat.
They come out to the kitchen and sorting room, or in the summer, the garden.

I love charity shops, I bought a Yong Kim dress almost new for £6.99, retail price over £100 pounds. I also get my candles in them as well, I save a fortune and the charity shops make money. I also buy clothes in a a very expensive boutique shop, but that is fewer and far between.
I take a break in the vast number of coffee shops in the town. I love doing this on my own too.

You can't knock a charity/2nd hand shop!!
Bargains galore and brilliant for crafters to find things we can recycle or up-do!

I worked in a charity shop for some time, and when I moved away for awhile (always intending to return, as I did) when visiting family I'd be back in at the odd chance as I did miss the camaraderie, and I'd find the family bargains, of course!!

You and my cousin could be kindred spirits. Browsing round charity shops is a hobby to her. I on the other hand shop only for food, everything else is bought online.

Liberty is my favourite shop, as soon as I walk in my spirits lift.
There is something very special about the building, staff is excellent, the whole experience is a joy.

I use them a lot online, their points system is very generous.

Serendipity 22 you have described my perfect day, charity shops and a nice cafe. It's the randomness of the charity shops I love. I could come home with a new winter coat (Planet, black wool with velvet collar, £6) or a silicone cake 'tin' (50p). Happy shopping to those others of a similar mindset!

I love browsing in book shops. Sadly we don't have one in our local town and it's a 2 hour journey to nearest city. I also love charity shops and, when I visit family in Cardiff love the no waste shop in Roath.

Book shops, and garden centres, looking at the cacti and succulents especially. I'd buy dozens of plants if I had the space for them, but the ones I have are taking over the house already.

Craft shops, I could live in craft shops, oh and book shops.

I hate shopping for anything but, when I still had my horses - now grazing in heavenly pastures, I did love saddlery shops. Love the smell of new leather and could always find something to buy that the horses 'just had to have/needed!!). Don't shop in charity shops but after retiring gave some really nice clothes to some of my local shops.

Bookshops.

I love Dunelm Mill. I love just walking around it and getting ideas. Anything I've bought there has been really good quality. I never, ever go into charity shops but maybe I should give it a go? The town I live in has more charity shops than anything else.

Keep an eye on Westminster charity shops as there may be some redundant Lulu Lyttle furniture and leftover wallpaper available in the near future.

A charity bookshop in Wigan. I donate the books I no longer want and have a browse. You can take up to 3 books each visit. Payment is optional, which is great for hard-up (or hard-faced) customers. I always pay a fair price, then usually recycle them back again. Win win for everyone!
As for other shopping, I just get what I need, apart from the occasional impulse buy. I have always disliked just wandering around the shops. Now that I'm 'getting on a bit' I get tired much more quickly, too.

I love Charity shops, you can sometimes get real bargains. About 95% of my wardrobe items are from Charity shops. I'm sure it's because I was brought up on 'hand-me-downs' so wearing someone elses cast offs doesn't bother me in the slightest. Also for about 40 years I made a lot of my own clothes more cheaply than High Street prices. I know, I know, you're probably thinking I'm a Cheapskate but I don't care. It's recycling! I also recently bought a very nice 2-seater sofa from a Charity furniture shop which they had professionally cleaned. I'm very pleased with it.

I like charity shops especially those with small pieces of second hand furniture. Always donate to my favourite Cancer charity shop and generally come out having bought something else. It’s all good fir the charity and fir me. What’s not to like.

If I am visiting somewhere a bit upmarket I enjoy looking at the clothes but as ‘ you can never be too rich or too skinny’ the sizes are often a bit on the small side. More is the pity.

I like the idea of recycling, repairing and repainting things and hate the waste that seems to be so common these days.

My neighbour has never been in a charity shop or an Aldi/Lidl which I find strange. Horses for courses etc.

I love charity shops too. We have 9 in our market town and love to mooch around in them as you never know what treasure you might find. A new one opened last week which adds to my joy. Most of my other shopping is on line because we do not have many other decent shops around here. All the good ones have closed over the last year. The trouble with being in a town that is not huge is that the decent shops close and then tell you to go to their nearest shop which is in the big town 30 miles away.

I love to have a mooch round charity shops - always on the look out for something a bit different to wear or for the home.
I'm going to lower the tone of this lovely thread now - one of my favourite shops is Savers! (Part of the Superdrug group). Just love that shop! I'm also pretty keen on a deli/ food hall. The one in Fenwicks in Newcastle is wonderful although I mainly go to look rather than buy.

I like charity shops, supermarkets and just strolling round town window shopping.

I can be a charity shop fiend. My Sil does not like to think he DD can be dressed in 2nd hand clothes. I think I have changed his mind. I do buy clothes for the GC, but they do have to be in new condition, I do notice my DGD does wear my purchases a lot. I also have bought loads of toys and books from these shops which helps them with their education. What's not to like about them?

I was a huge charity shop fan in the 80s when I was a teenager.
I bought some absolutely gorgeous dresses from the 60s and even 50s.
Proper ‘dancing’ dresses. Unfortunately I caught scabies from a charity shop purchase.
It itched like mad.
My parents and I had to cover ourselves in this weird blue stuff and isolate for a week.
