A rather LARGE mistake.

I had some decorating done a few months ago now and my GD and I have different ideas about “finishing off”.
She thinks all my pictures and mirrors are old fashioned and wants to bring me into the current century.
I have vetoed her idea for a large tv on the fireplace wall but reluctantly agreed to a black skeleton clock.
I ordered on line and it arrived this morning.

Oh dear!!
Why did I order without checking the measurements?

It is 45” by 45”

If St Pancras station need a new clock, look no further.
It would look ridiculous on the wall I bought it for but frankly the hassle of sending it back is beyond me.

It is too large for the conservatory and the dining room, still undecorated and presently unused seems the best bet.

Have you ever done similar?
Or are you sensible and check before ordering?

If you really don't like it and can't return it, ask your GD to put it up for sale on FB market place for say £50.00 I am sure someone will make you and offer on it ( they usually ask if that's your best price so prepared to take a few quid off). But at least you will get some cash back.

Thanks for the advice on returning stuff via a courier. Good luck with the clock. My recent stupid purchase was trousers for me. For some unknown reason I ordered the longest leg length. hmm DH made ‘losing it’ hints. But then took the returned package to a Hermes drop off whilst I was at work. smile

Just been on holiday to Studley castle. They had a clock on the ceiling! If I’d seen this thread I would have taken a photo. It looked like the face of Big Ben and they had embellished it with wooden mice.
?
Have you got a spare ceiling Anne?

Give it to your GD for her birthday?

The only outsize things I've had problems with are Tesco deliveries. Boxes of detergent too large to fit in any cupboard, etc. My problem is that I've never got the hang of metric measurements.
