Give me back my bodyguards: Prince Harry threatens legal action against the government and demands return of police protection because 'it is not safe for the Sussexes to return to UK for visits'

M0nica Sun 16-Jan-22 17:22:05

Prince Harry, like Prince Andrew is a private citizen. If one private citizen demands and gets police protection because they can legally be armed, which he pays fort. We will end up with every Russian Oligarch and jumped up celebrity demanding to be allowed to pay for armed police protection because if one private citizen can do so, why shouldn't any private citizen who can afford it? It will become a kind of status symbol.

I shouldn’t think the Queen loses sleep over whether or not she has met Lilibet.

Bet it matters a lot more to H&M.

I’m sure she has been included in future bequests, and treated the same as all the other great GC.

Some wild assumptions here. All I am calling for is H&M to have Police protection for a few days at their own cost. They are very high profile people who are more at risk than most, and are closely connected to the Queen as Harry is the son of the heir to the throne. I wouldn't want the Queen to lose a grandson while he comes home for a visit.

There is no precedent for other random wealthy celebrities to have Police protection at all. They are not connected to the Royal Family.

They are asking for police protection to come here for holidays

Kathy73 Sun 16-Jan-22 18:19:16

They are asking to PAY for protection to come here to see their family

Anniebach Sun 16-Jan-22 18:28:10

It’s still a holiday, he has criticised his father, has angered his brother, she was almost driven to suicide, they want to get on Buck house balcony in June .

Another chapter for his book

Kathy73 Sun 16-Jan-22 18:47:44

It’s the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and Harry is her grandson.

And, I repeat, they are asking to PAY for security. His mother died because of paparazzi.

Anniebach Sun 16-Jan-22 18:53:47

They trashed their family in the Oprah interview, he didn’t give a damn for his grandmother then.

Our police are not up for hire

Grandpanow Sun 16-Jan-22 19:02:02

The police can be hired by private parties. You can see freedom of information requests for previous agreements online

Daisend1 Sun 16-Jan-22 19:07:48

No one asked them to move.to the U.S and no doubt they can afford the best when it comes to protection.

Anniebach Sun 16-Jan-22 19:10:15

I see no mention of an individual hiring police for themselves

As far as I can see, the police provide paid services for the likes of football matches, London Transport, and major events, but that's for the greater good and crowd control.

I'd be surprised if anyone has hired armed police for personal protection.

Grandpanow Sun 16-Jan-22 19:26:03

Try googling.

www.nottinghamshire.police.uk/document/private-hire-police-officers-foi-00149414

And this article: www.google.com/amp/s/www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/police-forces-making-fortune-hiring-220033.amp

Which states: “ The Police Act 1996 makes provision for any force to provide special police services to any person on payment of appropriate charges.”

Anniebach Sun 16-Jan-22 19:27:22

If one person is organising a pop concert yes, crowd control

But bodyguards ?

paddyann54 Sun 16-Jan-22 19:27:44

Really Calendar girl have you read posts on here about family not seeing GC ? Are you saying the queen has no interest or feelings for her GC? How peculiar if thats true ,wasn't she supposedly close to her grandsons ,in which case wouldn't she want to see their offspring?

Daisend1 Sun 16-Jan-22 19:28:13

Lemsip
Why? Can we expect a Motorcade ?

I'm sure it will be one of her dearest wishes to meet Lilibet and see Archie again. Harry too.

She may be the Monarch but she's also a human being.

Anniebach Sun 16-Jan-22 19:40:27

Harry criticised the way the Queen and Phillip raised Charles ,
criticised Charles as a father,

Megan criticised the entire family and said one family member was racist . Said Kate made her cry.

What a loving grandson

Kathy73 Sun 16-Jan-22 20:55:29

I really hope people are getting help with their problems

nadateturbe Sun 16-Jan-22 21:24:43

They're not really private citizens though, are they? And they want to PAY!
Because they have behaved badly in some people's eyes isn't a good reason to refuse.

I know full well about not seeing family paddyann as I have daughter and GC in Australia who I haven’t seen for nearly 5 years.

As for the Queen, I am sure she loves her grandchildren and great grandchildren, the fact she hasn’t yet met Lilibet is not down to her. If H&M hadn’t flounced off, she could have seen plenty of them.

The death of her husband, her own health concerns, the mess with Andrew, the chaos with the government, Covid, probably take priority in her thoughts.

Josieann Sun 16-Jan-22 21:39:31

So with all this outcry, whatever means of protection they secure, it certainly won't be announced before the event as surely that would compromise their safety?

I do foresee an additional problem because aren't they being accompanied everywhere by Netflix who are filming them for some documentary? They can't be stopping every 5 minutes for the cameras when safety is paramount, so yet another conflict of interests.

Lucca Sun 16-Jan-22 21:59:17

Wow some of the old bile being flung around again.

No win situation .

She died because she didn’t have her seat belt on.
