Been discussed before, I know, but in the DT today, it seems that support for this to be the Duchess of Cornwall’s title in the fullness of time is ever more likely.

I, for one, would be pleased to see this happen. Princess Consort would be a silly title for the wife of the King.

I have never thought Charles will allow his beloved wife to hold an inferior title.

Maybe Queenie is just making amends for not allowing Charles to get together with Camilla in the first place. Times were very different when Prince Charles was pushed into marrying Diana to ensure the line of succession. Camilla seems to have been a force for good and a nice person to boot.

There has never been any evidence that Charles and Camilla wanted to marry when young, they dated then went their own
ways, no different to Anne dating Andrew Parker Bowls

‘She seems to have no shame’ notgran? This is the 21st century. Should she be banished to a convent?
I think she’s been very good and supportive for Prince Charles and as Fanny says, seems a good egg.

Definitely "hie thee to a nunnery " GSM smile

Oh dear. The royal correspondent on the Channel 4 news just said "3 in the bed" instead of "3 in the marriage" meaning Charles, Diana and Camilla!! shock

I dare say the royal correspondent on Channel 4 news was just saying what he really wanted to say. Wooden spoon award awaits.

I would personally prefer if the next king and queen were William and Kate

vegansrock Mon 07-Feb-22 01:31:16

Why wasn’t Prince Phillip King Consort? Or at least Prince Consort?

Anniebach Mon 07-Feb-22 07:50:31

He wasn’t married to a king

GagaJo Mon 07-Feb-22 08:19:01

I think the Queen (who I respect, despite being a republican) has yet again put her feelings for her children ahead of reading the feelings of the country. Most people are not in favour of this for Camilla.

I can only imagine how Harry must be feeling right now. Just as well he's well out of it and has someone for support with him.

????

Neither was Prince Albert but he was called Prince Consort.

Josieann Mon 07-Feb-22 08:39:14

That's an interesting comment GagaJo. I hadn't actually considered Harry's reaction at all (mainly because he is irrelevant). Do you mean he is anti Camilla because of the break up of his parents' relationship, ie the 3 in the marriage comment?

Anniebach Mon 07-Feb-22 08:45:02

The 3 in the marriage comment she made in the Panorama interview after she had been told and which William said
had added to her paranoia

I disagree, I think many people are in favour of Camilla.

Why should Harry object? From what has been seen in the past, both he and William looked to accept Camilla as their stepmother, and were happy to see their father happy.

To be honest, she seems to be one member of the RF that he hasn’t mentioned in his dissing of his family.

And as you say, he is well out of it and luckily has Meghan at his side offering a sympathetic ear.

FannyCornforth Mon 07-Feb-22 08:50:32

I think that the vast majority are in favour, or indifferent, about Camilla.
There was a phone in on LBC on Sunday morning, and , to be honest, the anti-Camilla’s just came across as a bit unhinged.

MissAdventure Mon 07-Feb-22 08:50:42

I wouldn't say I'm in favour of Camilla, but she and Charles seem like the perfect fit.
He has never looked so relaxed, well, and contented.

Josieann Mon 07-Feb-22 08:51:15

I would think there is currently more hostility towards Harry than towards Camilla.
The latter has gone up in the world, whereas the former has been demoted.
This book Harry is releasing after The Queen dies will no doubt reveal his feelings on the matter.

FannyCornforth Mon 07-Feb-22 08:52:06

Oh, I’d forgotten all about that book.
What a pain in the proverbial he is.

GagaJo Mon 07-Feb-22 08:55:16

I think popular opinion is irrelevant when you consider the hurt caused by a selfish father and his mistress. It's the little boy Harry that was hurt. It was his mother he saw suffering and killed.

Sarnia Mon 07-Feb-22 08:56:04

Good for the Queen. Giving her approval to the title of Queen Consort for Camilla when the time comes. Marriages do break up whether they are Royal family or not. None of the 3 of them were squeaky clean. Shame he couldn't have married Camilla when they were younger but protocol wouldn't allow it. Those who don't approve will just have to lump it.

GagaJo Mon 07-Feb-22 08:56:30

Almost everyone I've spoken to about it is not a n favour. Including my elderly mother.

Anniebach Mon 07-Feb-22 09:01:04

GagaJo why do you think Harry was hurt by Camilla ? He remained very close friends with Tiggy and Diana said she had
aborted a baby conceived in an affair with Charles.
And not forgetting Kanga

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 07-Feb-22 09:06:44

William and Harry (well perhaps not the latter now he’s estranged himself from everyone) are very close to Camilla and I think that speaks volumes.

Kate1949 Mon 07-Feb-22 09:54:52

I haven't spoken to anyone since the announcement was made who is in favour of this. It's all worked out very nicely for them. How do we know the two princes like Camilla? From the newspapers?

FannyCornforth Mon 07-Feb-22 09:58:19

I’m really surprised at what you say Jo and Kate
I honestly didn’t think that there was still hostility toward Camilla

henetha Mon 07-Feb-22 10:07:52

I like Camilla partly because she makes Prince Charles happy and he hasn't had an easy life in some ways.
I like the idea of Charles and Camilla being together and being King and Queen.
Lovely William and Kate will wait their turn.
