Been discussed before, I know, but in the DT today, it seems that support for this to be the Duchess of Cornwall’s title in the fullness of time is ever more likely.

I, for one, would be pleased to see this happen. Princess Consort would be a silly title for the wife of the King.

I have never thought Charles will allow his beloved wife to hold an inferior title.

Which 20 years ?

Not sure how long ago - didn’t even know about it until I watched a documentary on Sunday night. Charles and Camilla have been married around 15 years so obviously would have been before this.

Thank you Pammie they married in 2005 so nearly 17 years,
i can’t work out the 20 years , they were speaking at the time of
the marriage, Diana had died 8 years before that, the Queen wouldn’t have cause to be in Camilla’s company for the 20 years surely

Not being argumentative, I do have doubts about claims in
documentaries so check some of the claims.

Perhaps they don’t feel very important and it makes them feel big.

Anniebach Thu 10-Feb-22 11:55:12

Who ?

Esspee Thu 10-Feb-22 12:06:06

A woman who was the cause of the break up of a family, especially one with young children, and the man who was equally to blame would never be socially acceptable to me.
Most people I know feel the same way.
While I have huge respect for the Queen I feel when she goes the Royal Family will, sooner or later, be history.

Esspee Thu 10-Feb-22 12:08:42

I do feel that the recent statements from the Queen hint that she may be preparing to step back by abdicating in an effort to support Charles as he is unpopular with the masses.

Esspee
I agree with you.

Anniebach Thu 10-Feb-22 12:15:15

Camilla did not break up a marriage

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 10-Feb-22 12:21:34

I can’t believe that this is the 21st century. Not ‘socially acceptable’? I wonder how many on GN you would deem ‘socially acceptable’? Obviously if you’re ever invited to a function at which either of these unacceptable people are present, a Garden Party for instance, you will graciously decline.

Kate1949 Thu 10-Feb-22 12:27:21

I accepted my invite to a garden party at Buckingham Palace but it was pre Camilla and I certainly would have post Camilla.
I went to enjoy the day and a once in a lifetime experience.

Anniebach Thu 10-Feb-22 12:30:52

Camilla isn’t socially acceptable but Diana was , doubt
Mrs Manakee, Mrs. Carling, Mrs.Hoare thought so

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 10-Feb-22 12:35:42

Oooh Kate! How wonderful!

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 10-Feb-22 12:36:28

I don’t think so either Annie.

Kate1949 Thu 10-Feb-22 12:38:50

It was GSM. Little old me from the back streets of Birmingham eating chocolate cake and sipping tea in the Queen's garden!

Anniebach Thu 10-Feb-22 13:03:02

Kate did you wear a large hat ?

Kate1949 Thu 10-Feb-22 13:09:23

Annie. Not very large! I did wear a hat with a bit of a brim but only from Marks & Spencer. We had a lovely day wandering around, listening to the Band of the Coldstream Guards (as I recall ) playing, being served tubs of ice cream after our sandwiches and cakes. Seeing the Queen etc. That is until the heavens opened and there was a terrible storm and they had to let us into the palace! I think this is a tale for a different thread.

Anniebach Thu 10-Feb-22 13:20:25

It’s interesting Kate and you said it was pre Camilla , if it had
been later you could tell us you were in the palace gardens with
the future Queen consort

Kate1949 Thu 10-Feb-22 13:22:01

Yes I could have Annie.

I went to a garden party at Buckingham palace too… in 1975 or thereabouts. I wore a Laura Ashley straw hat with white and green flowers on it.

Anniebach Thu 10-Feb-22 13:53:15

Yes again, if affairs are spoken of why not ?

Wow Annie you really have it in for Diana . What did she ever do to you ?!

Anniebach Thu 10-Feb-22 14:08:10

Wrong Lucca but keep stirring
