Been discussed before, I know, but in the DT today, it seems that support for this to be the Duchess of Cornwall’s title in the fullness of time is ever more likely.

I, for one, would be pleased to see this happen. Princess Consort would be a silly title for the wife of the King.

I have never thought Charles will allow his beloved wife to hold an inferior title.

I’m just emailing my children to apologise for being cold hearted and selfish by leaving them with their grandmother when they were little, so DH and I could have a holiday. I wonder what they think about it.
I bet no one else on GN ever did that.
I wonder

A holiday ..different to two years !

Anniebach Sun 23-Jan-22 13:24:06

Mollygo I never had a 2 year holiday, never known anyone who has

I must say I was surprised when I learned that Elizabeth and Phillip’s long stay in Malta didn’t include their young children. Press coverage shows them having a jolly good time. Meanwhile, not a word of criticism about the lack of parenting skills. Perhaps the Queen has put a foot wrong after all.

No !! Pass me my pearls and the smelling salts.

Times have changed a lot in the last 70 years. Back then, even if they had been here, the Queen probably wouldn’t have seen that much of her children. They would have had nannies looking after them, as would most of the aristocracy. She was in Malta from 1949-1951 I believe, and would have returned for the birth of Princess Anne in August 1950. Probably back here for quite a while before and after the birth.

Don’t suppose the QM was much involved with the nitty-gritty of child rearing either, the dirty nappies, sleepless nights, washing, ironing, spoon feeding, ….. just the nicer, more photogenic bits, i.e. supervising bathtime, reading a bedtime story, strolling in Windsor Great Park pushing the pram, ( with nanny hovering nearby).

I personally believe she should be Queen after all she will be married to the king. I think they have a beautiful love story. and have come along way together

So her fiancé’s staff member tells her Charles had ordered a
bracelet, then tells her not to look but she does . She didn’t
mention the cuff links in that interview.

rubysong Sun 23-Jan-22 15:18:52

Yes, Camilla should be Queen. She shows all the right qualities when we see her doing her engagements. What happened in the past should be left in the past. How many of those who object to her have families without a broken relationship somewhere in them?
It appears the bracelet was a 'farewell' gift to Camilla and her relationship with Charles did not resume until 1986 when Diana had already had a couple of affairs. Diana's assertion that there were three in the marriage was led by Martin Bashir and now that we know how Bashir manipulated her feelings (which Prince William has told us) it should no be taken as reality.

rubysong Sun 23-Jan-22 15:20:02

'not be taken'

Anniebach Sun 23-Jan-22 15:33:27

What is forgotten is Diana also claimed he had affair with
Tiggy and she had an abortion.

Diana had mental health problems before she met Charles, she threw herself downstairs when pregnant but when single she
pushed her step mother downstairs, before she died she wasn’t
speaking to her mother, sister and brother. So sad.

MissAdventure Sun 23-Jan-22 16:30:36

Sad it's still being bought up, even though she's long gone.
Again, I think it was what endeared her to some people, the fact that she had problems.

lemsip Sun 23-Jan-22 16:40:17

Anniebach stop getting so excited!
diana was fed lies to destabilize her

Martin Bashir 'was joined by Panorama boss Steve Hewlett ...

23 Apr 2021 — Martin Bashir was allegedly joined by his BBC boss when he reportedly fed lies to Princess Diana to clinch her Panorama interview.

FannyCornforth Sun 23-Jan-22 17:00:56

I know that I’ve heartily joined in with these discussions; but I do think that we should just lay to rest the abortions and the affairs.
It’s all a little distasteful

FannyCornforth Sun 23-Jan-22 17:02:58

Poor Diana has been dead for over 25 years, let’s just let her rest in peace.
And Charles and Camilla have as much happiness as possible

Mollygo Sun 23-Jan-22 17:06:47

I’ll go with that FC.

FannyCornforth Sun 23-Jan-22 17:12:08

Thank you Molly
Can you imagine having your life scrutinised, from cradle to grave, and also those who you love.

Horrific, really

Mollygo Sun 23-Jan-22 17:49:58

No I can’t imagine it. I’d hate to be famous enough for people to think they have a right to do it too. Long live anonymity.

I agree. Yet it is a national sport followed by ardent Royalists.

People have short memories.

Mollygo Sun 23-Jan-22 19:30:53

Lucca @ 13:21 I can’t copy and paste all that, but that’s just reorganising the rules to suit the point you’re making.
Good idea. Must remember that one.
