Footballer kicking cat

Although I haven’t viewed the video as I don’t wish to see a cat being kicked across the room, I’m amazed that this multi millionaire footballer is still playing for his London club.

Compare this to the punishment meted out to the teacher that kick

Sparklefizz Wed 09-Feb-22 16:53:08

£250,000 is apparently only 2 weeks' salary to him. I hope he's going to be punished much more severely.... and the brother.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 09-Feb-22 16:58:29

Well some of the sponsors are giving it some thought. He may end up costing the club a lot more than the obscene amount they paid for him so it could be curtains for him and for Moyes. Good job too.

I've also read that as well as the cats being taken he's been fined £250,000. Hope that's right.

Hopefully someone will have a chat with the children too, to see if they're being bullied.

They have just said on sky News that Adidas has cancelled the sponsorship with that thug… that’s the second one… I really don’t understand why it took the RSPCA so long to get those cats out of that toxic environment

MissAdventure Wed 09-Feb-22 17:14:31

Me neither.
I mean, that is their job, isn't it?
It's a sorry old state of affairs when everything takes a storm of disapproval before anyone does anything.

Smileless2012 Wed 09-Feb-22 17:16:38

Oh me too Sparklefizz, I'm hoping the fine is just for starters.

Sparklefizz Wed 09-Feb-22 17:19:18

Adidas have now dropped him.

Sparklefizz Wed 09-Feb-22 17:20:40

I hope the children are given some education about the proper care of animals to override what they have seen.

MissAdventure Wed 09-Feb-22 17:22:15

Vitality has suspended their sponsorship.

Pammie1 Wed 09-Feb-22 17:24:00

Just seen online news - the online petition reached 175000 signatures. The RSPCA are investigating and have removed the two cats from his home until they have finished their investigation. The fine levied by the club is £250k - just two weeks wages apparently. Says it all really. £125k a week is more than three times what some people earn in a year. We really have got our priorities so wrong.

This… public opinion will go a long way to sort this out…

Losing his sponsorship will certainly make him realise quite how the rest of us feel about his behaviour. Frankly I feel that he should be prevented from owning any animals in the future and the ones he has presently should be rehomed.

@Mapleleaf
@Iam64
You’re both correct, the links between animal abuse and Domestic Violence are well established. I think Social Services should also be making an assessment. I doubt very much that this is an isolated incident from this psychopath. I feel sick.

I wonder at the way these two brothers think. Firstly for thinking it amusing to do such a thing, secondly for filming it and thirdly for sharing the film. Brainless!!
Have signed the petition.

But thank goodness he did, otherwise those poor cats would still be in that household.

I'm pleased to see the RSPCA did act swiftly and removed the cats, and I am very pleased to see that he's losing his sponsorship deals., which will be worth an utter fortune to him.

I hope he does get made an example of, and a prison sentence imposed, but alas, I feel that money talks and he will be able to buy his way out of this with a fancy lawyer who will find some loophole or another .

MissAdventure Wed 09-Feb-22 17:48:18

You don't deserve to be a pet owner or a parent. Your children & your cat deserve better. You are not only an animal abuser but a child abuser, your children will grow up thinking your behaviour is normal. Whoever was laughing is also guilty by enabling you.

Written on his facebook page.

Iam64 Wed 09-Feb-22 18:05:58

Zennomore, I wonder if either the police or rspca will refer to Children’s Services. In some ways, it’s a pity the NSPCC no longer investigates, because their research into the links is excellent.

I would like to see Moyes go as well. To have the arrogance to think that Zouma should play last night was breathtaking.

He was disappointed, apparently. But he had to do his job and Zouma's one of his best players. I couldn't believe it.

So many people, both famous and not, have condemned this ghastly footballer and the club's stupid manager.

I'd like to see the pair of them sacked.

Football managers are sacked at the drop of a hat so playing Zouma last night as if there was nothing wrong should result in Moyes being sacked too.
Moyes has brought West Ham into disrepute by ignoring this.

I hope it wasn’t posted for entertainment. That hadn’t occurred to me. How sick.

Yes, laughing and posting it on Snapchat, apparently.

MissAdventure Wed 09-Feb-22 18:11:59

I do wish they would stop reporting that he has now apologised.
So bloody what?

TheOtherCatsMother Wed 09-Feb-22 18:14:23

Sorry I haven't read all the thread but wondered if it was released because it was the only way to get it to stop? I have no doubt this has happened before and perhaps there would be repercussions if he was challenged?

Unforgivable thing to do, I hope something is done but I doubt it will impact on him much.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 09-Feb-22 18:17:10

It’s been suggested that the brother who filmed it was laughing so I don’t think he had altruistic motives.

MissAdventure Wed 09-Feb-22 18:18:57

I don't use snapchat or Tiktok but a lot of videos end up on youtube, which I use a lot.

I said a few weeks ago that I see plenty of animal abuse vids surfacing from those sites.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 09-Feb-22 18:20:04

I agree Callistemon, Moyes has brought West Ham into disrepute and his actions look likely to lose the club valuable sponsorship, for which he should be sacked.

It was his brother who filmed it and you can hear him laughing in the background, so I think it was filmed for ‘entertainment’ rather than to try to stop it. Brainless to think it would be well received on any form of social media, but then again anyone who would do this hasn’t got much brain power to start with I would have thought.

Iam64 Wed 09-Feb-22 18:26:36

The point about Moyes is well made. I’d expected Zouma to be suspended last night until the Club knew more about possible police/rspca action.
City are letting one of their players facing multiple rape accusations play.
Thank goodness ManUtd suspended Mason Greenwood immediately the club knew he faces serious allegations of sexual/physical assault, threats to kill etc from his 18 year old girl friend.

I’m a footie fan but it’s time the clubs shaped up

Allsorts Wed 09-Feb-22 18:31:51

The brother that filmed it is just as bad, he could have stopped him. What sort of people are they, do their children think it’s fine to abuse animals.
