I don't know why I am because no one around me seems worried.

I've secured all my bins and garden furniture!

East London here. Worst expected at 12 midday 72mph.
Next door neighbours having their roof replaced so 1 section inner plastic.
Am quite anxious.
Remember the bad storm in 1980s noise was so loud and it was so dark!

Just had a look at the Polzeath webcam 22ft waves expected this morning WOW! Love to be on the cliffs to watch, I bet there will be surfers.

I’m in North Devon and the timeline here yesterday was meant to be starting at 7 am,well it’s a bit blustery now but nothing really out of the ordinary not even as bad as Wednesday night so I’m presuming it’s going to get worse but hoping it’s detoured somewhat..??

Doesn’t seem too bad here at the moment, we are in red, but my daughter and husband have both left for work. I thought I’d leave it till 8.30 to make a decision.
I’ve just done a tour of the garden, so far trampoline still in place, and heavy garden furniture, but I’m not complacent, I know a sudden gust can throw things around.

Quiet and calm here in outer London at the moment the worst of the wind expected at noon and early PM. Stay safe.

We had very strong winds on Wednesday the fence panels in the garden were ripped out. It's a bit windy so far today but not severe.

North Antrim...It's quite nice here at the minute, light clouds and sunshine, very lttle wind. Forecast is for gales (40mph) and sleet...
I'm not anxious for me, but I worry about my daughter in an older house with trees and a fence that always needs mended after storms.

In the South West, so a red zone.
The wind's just started picking up a bit, but noting to write home about. confused

snowberryZ Fri 18-Feb-22 08:28:37

Makes me wonder if the media's hyped everything up. Again.

South Downs.

Up now and very gusty. But I guess we are high facing the sea.

Feels like calm before the storm here in my part of Lancashire. The trees are so still and the sky is grey and yellowish. My mum would have called it threatening.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 18-Feb-22 08:29:57

GrandpaGravy slept through the really bad storm of 1987, despite myself and the children all being up and watching and our beautiful cherry tree demolishing the front of our garage.

It has started raining and the wind is steady, no big gusts as of yet.

Raining here but calm at the moment Violet. The sun is even trying to peek out sunshine. They keep telling us it is coming. We are going to spend our day with our grandchildren as planned. Involves a short drive but?? we are going. Take care whatever you are planning today.

Nana3 Fri 18-Feb-22 08:36:37

Wow, just after I posted a deluge of hail stones came and the wind is gusting .

love0c Fri 18-Feb-22 08:36:59

Goodness me. The sun has gone and now chucking it down. The sun did not last long!! smile

It's been raining steadily here for about an hour and the wind is picking up hour by hour. We are about 15 miles from Cambridge.
Garden is secure as l can make it. Large trees adjacent to us. My husband can also sleep through anything. He thinks l am panicking over nothing.

London here, wind not too bad at the moment, but I have cancelled my osteopath appointment at 11.30 and possibly my Sainsbury’s delivery this pm may be cancelled . Fortunately I have enough supplies still . I’m a bit worried about a couple of ash trees on land backing on to our garden . Some of my family are due back from a holiday in the south today hopefully they will delay their return .

Ireland is getting a real battering at the moment, there are lots of power cuts, trees down etc. there. I’m in the Brecon Beacons (mid Wales), and it’s picking up a lot now. It’s very gusty, as opposed to constant wind - I think we are about an hour behind Ireland, so expecting it to get worse here before it gets better this afternoon.

Daisymae Fri 18-Feb-22 09:01:17

Just blowy here in the south east, although we are apparently amber, red at 10am according to the postman and I guess he would know. He said that the roads are very quiet with people heeding the warnings.

?Cornwall. ?

Lucca Fri 18-Feb-22 09:07:34

Hmmm. That would probably a good second choice or Somerset where Dad was from!

muse Fri 18-Feb-22 09:11:03

Cornwall and the gusts are really loud. Weird because the sun keeps coming out.
North coast has it the worst. Warnings on the news about not to go wave watching or in the sea. Hope no one is stupid enough to do so. Emergency Services have enough to cope with.

WW2 same here, squally rain, now blue sky.
Our GP has moved to phone consults only until 3pm. Local library shut.
S Hants.

I'm in the West Country but so far so good, although the wind is getting up.

I'm anxious because I have 3 large elm trees on some Council-owned land opposite my house, and 4 large plane trees to the side. When I bought this house 26 years ago, the trees were much smaller and the Council used to maintain them.... but not any more. The trees are now huge and the Council never check them. Storms always stress me out. Eeek!
