Talking with my DIL on the weekend we were discussing Ukranian citizens being told to make Molotov cocktails to attack the Russians. I said I could never do that as I abhor all forms of violence. She said that she would do it if she were in their position to protect the children. I suppose she had a different slant on it to me not having any little children now. What does everyone else think?

Chewbacca Mon 28-Feb-22 17:04:40

Definitely.

DiscoDancer1975 Mon 28-Feb-22 17:06:46

I think I would if it were to protect my children when they were young/ little, and now my grandchildren.

Otherwise....no. I keep saying to my husband, why doesn’t someone just shoot Putin? but I know if I was faced with him....I couldn’t do it.

I tend to just feel sad for people like this. Mad really.

Yes I would fight for my country even at my age 65. I would do anything to protect my family and fellow citizens alike.

Watching those women making the cocktails I just wanted to get in there with them.
My anger knows no bounds when we’re dealing with bullies.

Yes, yes and yes!

Galaxy Mon 28-Feb-22 17:08:39

I dont think anyone can know the answer to that. I think saying it on the internet is meaningless to be honest.

Nicegranny Mon 28-Feb-22 17:09:47

I think l could pull the trigger on Putin too !

Hithere Mon 28-Feb-22 17:09:56

I so would make them to defend my family

It is self defense

Hithere Mon 28-Feb-22 17:11:02

And other families too if I didn't have my own

Coastpath Mon 28-Feb-22 17:12:35

I am appalled by violence and cruelty of any sort and for many years campaigned for CND.

That said, desperate times call for desperate measures. To protect all I hold dear and believe in I could and would do this.

The people making the Molotov cocktails looked like ordinary people frantically doing something they never, ever thought they would find themselves driven to. The courage we are seeing from ordinary people is beyond imagining.

DiscoDancer1975 Mon 28-Feb-22 17:17:21

The problem I have is....these ‘cocktails’ will be killing innocents. Russian young people forced to fight with no choice.

If we were hurling them at Putin himself, it would make more sense. Still not sure I could though.

Chestnut Mon 28-Feb-22 17:50:55

I could definitely pull the trigger on Putin. I think he is the anti-Christ.

Zoejory Mon 28-Feb-22 17:53:49

Yes

Grandma70s Mon 28-Feb-22 17:55:46

I can’t imagine being complicit in any sort of violence, but I have never been in a situation where I would need to defend my family. Thank heavens.

Daisymae Mon 28-Feb-22 17:57:41

I think that in the face of an invading army there's no way of knowing what anyone would do.

Esspee Mon 28-Feb-22 17:59:08

Yes! I would do anything to protect the people and country that I love.

Doodledog Mon 28-Feb-22 18:00:26

I think I could make weapons. In fact, if my children were on the front line, and I had grandchildren in bunkers, I'm sure i could.

I'm not sure that I could throw them directly at young soldiers, but I suppose instinct would take over. Although I am doing it myself, I can't help thinking that it's a bit tasteless even discussing this hypothetically when there are people doing it to save their loved ones, though.

LauraNorderr Mon 28-Feb-22 18:09:11

To defend my family, yes yes yes.

Scotsmum Mon 28-Feb-22 18:27:45

If there was a tank training it's guns on me, then yes, I would. Self-preservation has to take over at some point from passivity.

eazybee Mon 28-Feb-22 18:41:49

Yes I would; I hope I never have to.

I’m not sure they did. News bulletins we’ve seen have shown them to be totally confused as to why they’re there. ( In Ukraine).
