How I wish they lasted longer, the garden looks so bright and cheerful when they are in flowers. Now they are starting to go off....been deadheading them..... then you are left with all that greenery and have to wait for it to die and turn brown. Having said that they are one of my favourite flowers as they herald spring to me, along with purple aubretia. ?

Gosh, ours have just bloomed! I agree they are cheery and always make me think of Spring and Easter. Lovely flowers they are.

I live by a castle and everyone waits for the daffodils to come out as they herald warmer weather.

I love Daffodils and try to grow different varieties each year.
My favourite this year are Kedron , yellow petals with a petite orange centre.
I wish they lasted longer, but at least with the calm, warm weather right now they are looking splendid.

I love daffodils, but only this week i found out i am allergic to them.
Whilst doing some gardening i touched some and blisters appeared very quickly and is very painfull.
Note to self, let them grow but keep away.

Because of winds I prefer the dwarf varieties. They radiate sunshine, just what we need after winter.

Rip van Winkle is currently the star in our garden.

MiniMoon Thu 24-Mar-22 13:59:26

We have lots of tete-a-tete dwarf daffodils in our garden They are beautiful.

Serendipity22 Thu 24-Mar-22 14:24:31

I love daffodils. I buy bunches every week from the supermarket.

I am a self-confessed uselessness in the garden loath it, hate it BUT I LOVE MY DAFFS in 2 vases in my kitchen....

If you look at all the varieties, you can get daffodils to flower from say December through to June. So a long season if you buy all the right varieties.

I just love daffodils they are so bright and cheerful in the garden and on roadside verges. The sight of them reminds me that spring really is here. Love all the different varieties, I tend to plant those in pots, clearly labelled, but try as I might, they always get mixed up when I plant them out in the garden when they’ve finished flowering. I always grow a few February Gold, to remind me of my Dad, whose birthday fell during those “dreary grey days” (his words).

The Poet or Pheasant Eye daffs are late flowers and smell fantastic. They tend to be mainly white though.

I love daffs as they herald spring but I do get frustrated with the leaves that hang around forever, especially when I am waiting to plant my bedding plants in the same pot.

Espee wow! Your daffodils look similar to Dahlias and
MiniMoon ‘tete a tete’ are miniature wonders of nature aren’t they?

Vanessa59 Thu 24-Mar-22 15:11:34

Mine are like soldiers all standing straight.

Kim19 Thu 24-Mar-22 15:56:06

Mine are in peak condition right now. Absolute bliss.

“Daffy down dilly, comes up to town,
In a yellow petticoat, and a green gown”.

MerylStreep Thu 24-Mar-22 16:12:29

My daffy are on their way out but the first tulips are showing ?

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 24-Mar-22 16:13:11

I love daffodils. They are my favourite flowers. Years ago there was an Antique shop in my village run by a husband and wife, who had been tap dancers in a previous life. I bought from them the most beautiful vase with painted daffodils. I still use it.

I’m in the same daffodils boat as Serendipity
Here is a very wonky picture of Ocado’s finest ( plus Gracie’s tail )

TillyTrotter Thu 24-Mar-22 17:18:43

These are Tesco finest Fanny, definitely not in the same league ?

LauraNorderr Thu 24-Mar-22 17:27:31

A pot of daffodils just outside the kitchen window in my little courtyard.
I love daffodils, they bring hope of better things to come.

TillyTrotter Thu 24-Mar-22 17:32:41

I feel the same about them Laura . ?

Vanessa59 Thu 24-Mar-22 17:46:56

They do like to shout out and be noticed.

Jaxjacky Thu 24-Mar-22 17:52:02

First year we’ve had them, very happy.

Forsythia Thu 24-Mar-22 20:31:09

I love them. I’ve got them in pots, in the garden soil and I buy 3 bunches every week from the supermarket. So many varieties and tête-à-tête are really long lasting. Love them.
