The weather has turned and the beautiful sunshine of the past week or so has turned to rain and an overcast sky. Yesterday my dear brother was here helping me sort out the spare bedroom which had slowly turned into a junk room!!! It is now going to be called the 'attic' Things that I want to keep but seldom use are now packed neatly in boxes and a cupboard and chest of drawers. I can find anything now instead of having to search for what ever it was. He took everything away I didn't need or want and will dispose of for me. Its such a weight of my shoulders. Today I have a small stack of items which need to be placed in the garden shed so will do that later. I have an old work colleague coming for lunch and my gp ringing this afternoon for a meds review. So a full on day again. It would have been lovely if the sun was out again but the weather won't affect what I'm doing. smile

We went to the funeral of a friend.
What an amazing life she led.

It was dull, cold and misty here in Nottingham, until about 4.30. The sun's out now....and so is the washing I put out this morning (it's no drier now than it was then)

HowVeryDareYou Tue 29-Mar-22 18:14:20

I had some blood tests done, did some shopping, washing and tidying up, then went to Aqua Aerobics, then made a roast dinner. That's enough for me today.

Sorry about your friend Callistemonflowers.

Had a very productive day and am going to choir practice this evening.

Day 3 of Covid, feeling awful so sleeping most of it.

Just after 6 am here in the South Pacific. Having my first cuppa of the day, sitting on the veranda. Still dark, stars are gorgeous, it's going to be a perfect day. At first light, going to feed my chickens and quail, have another cuppa, Then will water my garden and all my fruit trees with fish and seaweed solution, and have another cuppa. Lots of library books to read, and family history research to do, all the while drinking coffee. It's my day off, you see.

We’re in Portugal. We’ve been out to walk around the old town of Faro, and had a lovely lunch out. We called at the supermarket on the way back to get a few things including some chocolates as gifts for the family. Now we’re relaxing in our apartment and I’m wasting time on Gransnet.

How lovely to be in the South Pacific or Portugal. I am in Birmingham grin but feeling very virtuous as I have walked for over an hour today. I made myself get out and walk.

Oh, lovely, BoadiceaJones

Where are you? If you'd rather not say, I quite understand.

i picked a friend up for morning coffee and a good gossip. In the afternoon I drove down to M&S in need of at least one new bra, and found one I had seen on line and failed to order! A visit also to Waitrose. I've mastered the new voucher scheme and now have two vouchers a week on my phone. The lady at the checkout told me that not many of my age could understand that system! I didn't ask her how old she thought I was!

Callistemon21 - I'm in the Far North of New Zealand (Bay of Islands).

If the weather proves as unkind as predicted then I'm hibernating.

I'm being a bit dense, BoadiceaJones ???

I was thinking Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Fiji?
Duh!

We visited Bay of Plenty a couple of years ago (pre-Covid) - a lovely area.

Callistemon21 Wed 30-Mar-22 09:41:28

I'm being even more Duh!

We had a friend whose daughter lived in the Bay of Islands for a couple of years but they came back to live in the UK.
I never understood it!

It's eight days now since my close covid contact and I'm still testing negative, strangely.
So I think I can go out today. Only shopping, but that will seem thrilling after being shut in here.

HowVeryDareYou Wed 30-Mar-22 09:59:33

It's cold and grey here, and the planned appointment I had has been cancelled (half-hour ago) so I'm going to stay in, read, watch a bit of tv, then see my GDs after school, take them to a play centre then a pub for dinner, before returning them home.

Humbertbear Wed 30-Mar-22 10:04:59

I’ve put bread in the machine, washed my hair. I’m going to pick up teenage GD and take her to school - she’s due in at 11.45 and it’s a long way from here (don’t ask). This afternoon I am taking a widowed friend shopping. DH is on dinner duty this evening.

My daughter has made it very clear that they’re coming home Callistemon. She doesn’t like the education system in New Zealand, she feels it’s much better in the UK. Also she says the children miss their grandparents and extended family too much. They were talking of coming back this September, but have been offered a year’s contract in Christchurch and are considering that, in which case they’ll return next year. She’s also invited the whole family (us and her brothers) to go out for Christmas if they stay on. She missed her usual family Christmas in the UK. There are lots of reasons to go, and lots of reasons to return.

Anyway, as you were. What are you up to today?

After a sunny week of gardening, power washing then painting my back garden fence, I am planning to sit on my posterior. Well in between doggy walks.

ClaraB Wed 30-Mar-22 11:41:45

I'm recovering from shingles, need to get well for my holiday next week. Those of you who've had shingles, will know how awful it is but have now got strong painkillers which are helping. Wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Kate1949 Wed 30-Mar-22 11:45:51

We're going out for lunch today. We're walking to the pub. It's about half an hour there and half an hour back so I'm hoping I'll walk off the lunch!

Spec1alk Wed 30-Mar-22 11:49:00

I’m in north wales and our pond is already full of frogspawn!! I’m sure it’s early this year. I’m glad we spring cleaned the pond in the autumn!

Nana3 Wed 30-Mar-22 12:11:14

ClaraB get well soon.
I'm having my usual lazy day dh at work as always.
Going to the pub with another couple this evening, it will be the highlight of my week.
I need to give myself a good talking to.

harrigran Wed 30-Mar-22 12:14:14

I am supposed to be sorting my clothes for my holiday but got side tracked on the computer. How I wish it had been last week when the weather was so good, I am having to look for warm jumpers.

Riverwalk Wed 30-Mar-22 12:24:57

I did an hour's walk at 08.00 - weather very dull but dry and not too windy.

Just had an early light lunch before I go off to my weekly dance class - I need to be nimble on my feet! ?

I'll save the much-needed housework until tomorrow as sleet is forecast.
