Pamper parties for children

I would have been a bit worried about my son if he had wanted nail polish or a foot spa.

Times are changing, there is absolutely nothing wrong with males having a manicure or pedicure.

Nail varnish is not compulsory.

I think the real problem is...when you’re a young parent, you have no concept of how short childhood is. It’s only when you look back, once the children are adults, and realise that was no time at all.

So why on earth shorten it? They have plenty of time to be adults and do adult stuff. Realistically, we could have our children double the time as adults, as we had with them as children.

Let them be children as long as you can.

A child though GG? I’m all for men having clean, well kept hands - but a child having a manicure and nail polish is a step too far for me. My son always has clean and well kept nails, which he has always done himself.

I had a manicure two weeks ago, my 2yr old GS wanted pretty fingers so he picked a bright green varnish. One coat and it was complete gone in two days.

No harm done, but one happy GS.

Grannygravy a small child copying a bit of nail varnish is hardly the same as a 7/8 year old having numerous pamper parties which only encourages her or him to believe that outward appearances are the only important thing in life and not only that that but unless they are in with these parties and the in crowd of self adoration they will not be one of the popular children
Let them run, jump, get dirty, tear their frocks as the climb the trees, let them live as mucky pups and not put all their minds on material things
I think those that approve are NOT looking at the bigger picture

I am in stitches. I paid the deposit for my daughters pamper birthday she will be 6.

It's obviously child friendly everything. She is absolutely exactly.

I think it sounds like a lovely afternoon for the girls!

Having a pamper party does not mean that children are now excluded from climbing trees and getting dirty.

It’s 2-3 hours of fun

This thread appears to be to be a classic example of adults assuming that children think the way they do.

Pamper party is not a gateway to Page 3 or beauty pageants it is innocent fun.

Our only DD was and is what can only be described as a horse mad tomboy.

With four elder brothers she was always dirty, grazed knees or covered in horse dung/hair. She did have a couple of pamper parties when in junior school, now maybe one/two manicures a year.

We don't do girls in our family - just boys!! I am a 75 yr old granny but meet up for coffee regularly with a group of mums I made friends with when DGS started school nursery. I don't want to detract from this thread but a couple of the mums have been chatting about their daughters baby dolls. Given that these girls are 12yr old and about to start secondary school I thought it a bit strange. The dolls are life sized and baby-gro's, etc and moses baskets are being bought for them. Has anyone else come across this?

Well I have trawled the internet looking at websites for UK pamper parties and there are thousands of pictures of little girls with cucumbers on their eyes, hair in turbans and toes in solutions.
I’ve found only one picture of a boy and to be honest I’m not 100% it is a boy.
So it is clearly not just us being misogynistic!

Pamper parties are not inclusive..
