My good wishes to your granddaughter for tomorrow ann. Selfish? You’ve not got a selfish bone in your body. Concerned and worried is what you are. Sleep well if you can.

brook2704 Fri 10-Jun-22 07:22:43

Hoping all goes well for your DGD today ann ?

GrannySomerset Fri 10-Jun-22 08:02:42

Thinking of ann’s GD today and hoping for the best possible outcome - can, think of few worse things to happen to a young woman. Life is so unfair sometimes.

Grandmadinosaur Fri 10-Jun-22 08:12:58

Popping in to say I hope everything goes to plan for your GD today Ann no you are not selfish at all. It’s an understandably worrying time you’re both going through.

The sun is out long may it last.

Fingers crossed for your granddaughter today Annsixty.

dragonfly46 Fri 10-Jun-22 08:23:29

Ann let me add my good wishes that all goes well with your DGD today. My thoughts are with you both.

annsixty Fri 10-Jun-22 09:16:22

I am so, so touched by all your messages.
She is on her way to hospital now and she and I are so grateful for all your kindness.
My DGD has had such a difficult time all her life and this seemed so hard to deal with on top of everything else.
My H adored her and I am thankful he is not sharing this with us but he would have been very happy to know how strong our bond is now.
I am getting soppy and tearful now, a week of stress and poor sleep is showing.

Jaxjacky Fri 10-Jun-22 09:23:55

Oh ann try and take some time for you too, big cuddle ?.

Susan56 Fri 10-Jun-22 09:29:44

Enjoy time with your Cambridge family, brook.

Hello Liamsnana, nice to "see" someone else on gransnet from my part of the country.

annsixty Fri 10-Jun-22 10:11:47

L has just FaceTimed me from the hospital.
Her mood is much lighter, she said she is no longer distraught!!
The stitches are out and replaced by stera strips to be used for the next two weeks.
Then she can start using bio oil.
I feel so much better , thank you all for support and reassurance.
In time I think the scar will improve greatly and won’t mirror her cleft scar which is what we feared.
Not just vanity but a real thing.
A huge weight, nearly, lifted.

kittylester Fri 10-Jun-22 10:16:48

ann, I have only just caught up with your news. Glad you DGD is happier - you must be too.

I bought shock a gf chocolate cake yesterday- it is delicious - please yourselves. We are going out for lunch with DD1 at a farmhouse near them. I'll see what goodies I can bring back.

annsixty Fri 10-Jun-22 10:23:09

A glass of something with bubbles and a smoked salmon sandwich would go down brilliantly kitty

annsixty Fri 10-Jun-22 10:32:20

I’m on a posting roll here.
kitty does your DD start her treatment soon?
I send with every ounce of sincerity the same support I have had this week.
As a survivor of BC myself I would never ever say to someone “ it will be fine” as was said to me, what I do say is that research and progress is streets ahead in the times we live in and recovery and prognosis is excellent.
My kindest wishes are with you all.

kittylester Fri 10-Jun-22 10:49:08

Thank you ann. She starts next week. She has been assured by her consultant that she will be fine but she has also been warned that the road ahead will be hard. If I am going to be the support she will need, I could very well need the support of gn in the coming weeks.

I'll get some smoked salmon from the farm shop and we always have bubbles around.

Grandmabatty Fri 10-Jun-22 10:58:48

That's heartening to hear Annsixty. The chat has put me in the mood for smoked salmon on brown bread. Yum

Susan56 Fri 10-Jun-22 11:01:31

Pleased to hear the good news Ann,

Wishing your daughter all the best for next week kitty and strength for you all as her support troops?

Doodle Fri 10-Jun-22 11:45:32

Such good news Ann . So pleased for you both. That BioOil is really good.
kitty wishing your DD strength to get through her treatment and a positive outcome.
Thinking of all who are ill or suffering in body, mind or spirit today. x

Baggs Fri 10-Jun-22 11:56:00

Glad to hear your DGD, and therefore you too, ann, feel much better about the injury she received. A good result.

kitty, one of my DDs had BC last year. The road is indeed quite hard, especially for someone who has never been really ill before, but DD has found strength and comfort from online group chats with other sufferers. Hope your DD can do that too flowers.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 10-Jun-22 12:05:58

Good news about your granddaughter Ann!??? I’ve had breast cancer too and I don’t think any of the medics said that everything would be fine! But, five years since diagnosis are up next month so I can stop taking anastrozole, alandronic acid and vitamin C/calcium tablets!

dustyangel Fri 10-Jun-22 12:23:34

I’m so glad that your GD had good news Ann, I hope you can relax and sleep well tonight. The champagne and smoked salmon sandwiches are my favourite and I laughed at kitty’s comment about the champagne. Then I remembered that we have a ‘spare’ bottle that for some reason is sitting in the box with the vacuum cleaner tools, I’ll ice it down quickly.

SueDonim Fri 10-Jun-22 12:39:32

That’s excellent news, Annsixty! A great way to start the weekend! smile

I think I’ve missed something with your dd, Kittylester but it sounds as though she has something difficult to contend with. I send good wishes to her and all your family for getting though it. Xx

Glory be, we finally have proper internet in our temporary abode! A lovely BT chap arrived this morning and sorted it all for us. Dh and I will no longer have to talk to each other as we can sit in silence, browsing. ?
