Happy as can be
All good pals and
Jolly good company.
Love to you ALL. Take care of yourselves and each other. I shall be with you again as soon as I'm able.
Cheers dragonfly just what’s needed, thank you
Ooh nasty SueDonim I hope it’s starting to heal. Be careful not to knock it while you’re packing.
I haven’t achieved much today either Soop, just a little laundry and a walk. I hope MrSoop is doing well.
We are lucky to live in a place with very little traffic and there are places to walk that don’t involve crossing roads. Train tracks are a different matter
. I found some gorgeous roses on my walk today so thought I’d share them with you all. Cheers Dragonfly, have a lovely evening all.
‘Evening All’
A great day here in the sunshine! We were minding L’il Miss.
I took her for lunch in the square, as you do with a 5y old. She has lovely table manners and eats very slowly. Then we went into Quality Save for toys.
She giggled when I said “why are we doing this?
Is it your birthday?
No? ... Is it Christmas then?” ?
She took an age making her purchases. As you do at that age. We went up and down the aisle. Several times.
All smiles from a very happy and free rein girlie ... and all for under £13. Win-win.

One of life’s pleasures. ✅
Beautiful cats, LLL, great names too!
Loving all the cat pics and a warm welcome Catterygirl
LLL I doubt if Ripley enjoys being brushed. They are loving a snooze on the chair but I doubt if the chair has stayed in good shape after they had sharpened their claws on it.
They are handsome and gorgeous and will join the cat hall of fame I think.

Leather is better than cloth for chairs I think. There are a few holes in the back and the back is dented where Milo sits.
You are a wonderful gran Urms what a perfect girlie day!
Hallo everyone, please may I come in? I haven't been here before, but have read the current thread. Best wishes to all the invalids and wounded - it's not easy getting a bit more mature, is it? I have some soup on the go, if anyone would like some for lunch, made with the chicken stock I found in the freezer. I made the stock and it is pretty good soup, if I say so myself!
The reason I was looking in the freezer, and the reason I was hoping for a bit of sympathy (I'm a wimp) is that DH has broken his leg - so he's the one who needs sympathy, not me - and is confined to the sofa in a rigid brace. He does almost all of the cooking, as he enjoys it, but obviously can't at the moment, so I am allowed to find things in the freezer and cook them. He is being very resilient and finding plenty of reading to do, and has started some online courses, whereas if it was me who was laid up, I would have been round the bend by now, and moaning like mad. Obviously I can't complain to him about the sudden changes in our life, including a postponed holiday, and I am well aware that it could be a lot worse and that I am lucky to have him. However, I hoped I could have a quick moan to some friendly people here.
Thank you.

Urms I echo Blossoming's words.
Ladyleftfieldlover Welcome to Milo and Ripley.
Blossoming When we next go strolling around the village, we shall also pass a big display of wild roses. I love them. As do the bees.
Mr Soop has had me in stiches (with laughter). He says that his eyesight is beyond marvellous. However he is concerned that he has aged something awful since the op. He keeps looking in the mirror and muttering that he looks OLD. He even asked should he check with the GP that he isn't suffering from a newly acquired disease. I do my best to reassure him...but...he's far from convinced.
Tell Mr soop I know the feeling - I have aged 10 years in the last few days!
Those are wonderful Granny days Urms.
Welcome back Wheniwasyourage. Us lot will provide you with a group (hug). You are doing a fine job caring for your husband. He sounds like a lovely man with a well balanced attitude in the face of adversity. I can imagine how disappointing it must be to have to cancel your holiday. These setbacks are sent to try us. Mr Soop is the chef in our house. When he's unable to cook, I find it challenging to provide a meal to his exacting standards. However...we do our best. And, yes please to bowl of your hearty soup. Mr Soop made a delicious loaf of wholemeal bread yesterday. The perfect lunch.
soop, it’s great to know that the cataract op has been so successful. It must’ve been difficult having both done together, but at least that’s it, and no more journeys north for a long time hopefully.
Mr soop is seeing himself more clearly now but I bet he doesn’t look any older- just seeing a different him.
Yes, that’s hard When I was. Six weeks in plaster, I believe.
I had plaster to just below my knee when I broke my ankle. It was depressing. Good luck with the cooking - I wish my DH cooked sometimes but he does other things instead (like ironing!). Shame about the holiday but you will enjoy the postponed version when it comes!
Bellanonna Please may I borrow Mr B? I'm about to spend some long time dashing away with the smoothing iron.
Thank you! You've cheered me up! I forgot to say that we have been overwhelmed with kindness from friends and neighbours with offers of help, some of which we have accepted with thanks, and most of which we are lucky enough not to need at the moment.
He is a lovely man, soop and has coped really well with a few health problems over the past few years. Glad to hear that Mr Soop is up to making bread again - nothing like home-made bread, is there?
Bellanonna, it sounds more like 10 weeks in splints with increasing degrees of movement, but he is getting better at dealing with the crutches every day.
I feel a lot better and not so sorry for myself as I was this morning, so thank you again.
Wheniwasyourage We are here for each other. We all have days when we feel stressed. It's a good thing to share such feelings. Life isn't all happy-clappy moments.
We’ve decided to buy the bowl we saw at an Oxford Arts Weeks venue yesterday! It’s beautiful and will look good on our coffee table. We will go tomorrow and buy it. OH is out this afternoon and wants to be there when we hand over the money! As I’ve said before, we can’t take it with us. Money or the bowl.
soop that is excellent that Mr soop is now seeing himself as others see him. Fabulous to hear the surgery has worked. He must still rest but that is good he is slowly returning to the kitchen.
"Wheniwasyourage* you are fortunate he can entertain himself and is not moaning the day away. He will be unable to do much for 3 months.
Bellanonna to be able to iron is a fabulous asset- can he manage to get the clothes to the washing machine or is that beyond him as it is with many men.
Love the cat pictures and would also love to see the bowl you plan to buy Ladyleftfieldlover
Wheniwas ?
soop, MrB irons in dribs and drabs, as the fancy takes! If you have a big pile that could be annoying.
Charley, he just washes his own stuff, but he does hang it out too. I don’t let him do mine as I prefer to choose the programme. (There have been past disasters)!
Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. Today I have been to the blood test clinic to check that my uric acid levels are responding to the new drug. Results in a couple of days. I have a nice bruise developing despite the phlebotomist’s care, I always end up with one!
Hello WhenIwasyourage* everyone is welcome in this warm and friendly kitchen, thank you for the soup. How awful for you and your DH, unfortunately illness doesn’t turn us into saints, wether it’s our own or someone else’s. Feel free to vent amongst friends!
I have a similar problem to MrSoop when I have my new glasses on, but it is curable by removing said glasses and replacing them with my large, dark sunglasses. Perhaps this might help MrSoop. Fortunately I always have to wear prescription sunglasses when I go out
Ladyleftfieldlover please share a photo of the bowl once bought!
Bella
Ladyleftfieldlover I agree with Grandmajean. I would also like to see a photo of the bowl. We bought one for our last wedding anniversary. It was costly. It is also something we will always treasure.
If you show us yours...I shall show you ours.
Charleyg Ironing finished. [sigh] Time for a
. Alas, no biscuit. I am calorie watching again.
Mr Soop's ear ache has persisted. He has been taking pain killers. Tomorrow, the GP wishes to peer into said ear. I shall report his findings.
A perfectly beautiful end of day. Barely a cloud in the sky. A teal green sea. Peace...perfect peace.
Until tomorrow.

*Mr Soop*’s chagrin at seeing himself clearly in the mirror after so long reminds me of a friend’s reaction to his new hearing aids. He came back from shopping and complained to his wife that he couldn’t hear himself think because his mac was so loud.
