Hello everyone. Been a chilly day here, cold wind.

Spent the morning sorting house insurance and organising LPA’s. Please both are over with. Wandered our for a stretch this afternoon, too windy for the beach though. A good enough day in cornerland.

mr soop’s comment had me laughing soop. More than pleased he’s recovering well.

Ouch wheniwas. That sounds painful for your husband. A local friend had a similar break earlier in the year. She’s mended well, so fingers crossed for your husband.

Hope the blood test results are as you’d wish blossoming.

Mr C doesn’t cook but he does iron and clean as well as put the bins out. I’m happy to cook grin.

A restful evening ahead for me. I’m looking forward to a catch-up with a GN buddy tomorrow so a good day to look forward to.

brook2704 Mon 23-May-22 17:28:37

So good that Mr Soop can see clearly again - even if things don’t look quite normal yet? Hope the ear is better soon too
It’s been rain rain and more rain here today ☔️ so I’ve been out to the gym, had a coffee and a chat with a friend, been to the garden centre (again?) and then a browse around Tesco. Just home now and getting a quick pasta dish ready to eat soon and then settle down to watch something on TV
Looking forward to seeing the bowl in pride of place on the coffee table llfl
Hi to wheniwasyourage ?
Hope your results are good Blossoming

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 23-May-22 17:58:21

We’re collecting the bowl tomorrow. I’ll take a photo and post it!

Chocolatelovinggran Mon 23-May-22 18:38:43

Ouch Wheniwasyourage, that sounds painful.
My DGS has broken his wrist just before his half-term family holiday at CenterParc, but, fortunately, after he played the drums at his school concert. Shamefully, I was so relieved that it didn't happen on my watch !

Urmstongran Mon 23-May-22 19:09:01

‘Evening All’

How is everyone? I do love this thread and also how it morphs from photos of cats yesterday to photos of bowls tomorrow! I’m a curious person so will be delighted to tune in.

Home your blood test result is good Blossoming. Waiting for news can be anxiety-inducing (with me anyway).

Talking about matters of a medical nature, I’ve been invited by letter to take part in some research concerning personalised screening for breast cancer. I have my routine mammogram next month then I will be randomised into a group for observation over the next 3 years. I went on line this afternoon to input my details and answer some questions. Is anyone here doing this or know of someone who is?

Blossoming Mon 23-May-22 19:16:33

I’m not too worried Urms , it’s to check if my uric acid level is going down. The Dr has started me off on the lowest level of Allopurinol tablets to prevent gout. It can be increased if necessary.

I haven’t heard of that cancer screening research myself.

Sorry, I’ve not read any posts, busy day here in Shepton Mallet. The prison tour was informative, grim and sad.
Hope all is well with kitcheners, we’re off to watch Silent Witness, sleep well x

Yiayia4 Mon 23-May-22 21:54:29

Wheniwasyourage welcome hope your husband makes a good recovery.
Have a good break Jax
So glad your doing well Mr.Soop.
I miss having a cat, I looked after Milo for my neighbour, this was his second home and they moved last year.I really miss him as we’ve always had cats.I will get my Greek cat fix soon but seriously thinking of getting a rescue cat maybe a Greek one.

Naughtyneine Tue 24-May-22 10:21:11

Thank you for all your lovely welcomes....to me and the other newbies who have crept into the kitchen and found wonderful people. I loved reading about Mr Soop....I have a similar problem when I give my date of birth and
always think... That can't be right surely. !!!!. I hope all injured souls improve really quickly...and send a big hug to those caring for them. I've just come out from having an abdominal scan... Apparently they were checking my aorta... I'm glad I didn't know that before I went in as both parents died of AAA....but mine is a normal diameter so the mid rib pain and breathlessness may be down to a hiatus hernia (we've moved ourselves twice in the last year so may well be down to moving heavy items) . The trouble is in my head I am still in my twenties and can do anything....my body tells me a very different story that I ignore. !!!!! I felt very low yesterday...and not even discovering Morrisons have an amazing range of perennial and annual plants really cheap lifted my spirits much. That said I did still fill the trolley... So guess what I'll be doing today... I've popped some warm croissants on the side for anyone to have with morning coffee/tea.

Two minutes in the Kitchen for me, which is a darn sight more restful than my own! The removals men arrive tomorrow so all is chaos in my kitchen as I throw away eight-years-out-of-date food and chipped glasses and try to persuade Dh that he doesn’t need that kitchen drawer full of tools that might (but won’t) come in handy.

Welcome to the newcomers in the Kitchen! There’s always room for one more. ❤️

I hope all the invalids are improving. I broke my leg about eight years ago Wheniwasyourage that day before we were going on holiday to the Caribbean! I was being attended to in A&E for a double tib & fib fracture but was still asking if I’d be allowed to get on a plane the next day. grin The answer turned out to be no, you’re going to spend ten days in hospital instead. ? Still, we had our holiday the following year and very nice it was.

Back to my boxes and packing tape! TOYA. Xx

Blossoming Tue 24-May-22 10:41:23

Hello again Naughtyneine I hope you’re feeling a bit better today. The kitchen is a good place to come to when you’re feeling low. A croissant would be lovely, thank you. Good timing, as Mr. B has just made coffee.

I’m feeling rather tired as I didn’t sleep well. No idea why, I wasn’t in pain or anything.

Wheniwasyourage Tue 24-May-22 10:57:45

Thank you all for your support and good wishes. Much appreciated!

Good luck with the move, SueDonim. No wonder it's supposed to be one of the most stressful things we do, but it's worth it when you can slump into a chair in your new house, breathe out and relax! wine

The breast cancer research sounds interesting, Urmstongran, and even if you never find out all the details of what it is achieving, you will have done your bit for research into a horrible disease. ?

Baggs Tue 24-May-22 10:58:15

The Soop Kitchen's good vibes are needed once again. A gransnetter known to many as baubles is seriously ill. Her daughter sent me this message:
"I just wanted to let you know that my mum is ill in hospital. She became ill very suddenly on Friday and had an emergency operation on Saturday night during which they had to remove her entire colon which was necrotic and septic. The surgeon said the decision to operate when they did saved her life. Yesterday was not a good day and she had multiple organ dysfunction and was on the verge of being ventilated. Today she seems to have turned a big corner and they have removed heart support and reduced support to lungs and kidneys. I was able to see her tonight [Monday] and she is talking and telling my dad what is in the freezer to eat! She asked me to let you know and if you could let other gransnetters know.
It’s been a huge shock however we are now hopeful that she is going in the right direction"

dustyangel Tue 24-May-22 11:06:33

Oh what a shock Baggs. Poor Baubles and her family, I did wonder why she hadn’t been on the Good Morning thread but as I’m only intermittent myself especially over the last week, didn’t think too much of it. I’ll be sending positive vibes in her direction.

Thank you for letting us know.

Charleygirl5 Tue 24-May-22 11:42:54

Thank you so much Baggs for letting us know. It sounds as though Baubles was operated on in time and she is now slowly on the mend. That must have been very frightening for her.

cornergran with the extra skills that Mr C has, he can come here anytime for an extended holiday and I promise you he will not forget his skills- they are a rarity in a man.

I hope Mr. Soop is resting his body as well as his eyes. You will have a fabulous break in the near future, you being able to sit down co,fortably and Mr.Soop being able to see again.

Hellogirl1 Tue 24-May-22 12:14:01

So sorry to hear that Baubles has been ill, hopefully she`s on the way to being well again.
Pleased to hear that Mr. Soop is seeing clearly now, especially as he can now see YOU more clearly Soop, and realise how lucky he is!
Welcome to WhenIwasyourage, stick with the kitchen and you`ll love GN!

SueDonim Tue 24-May-22 12:15:15

Oh my goodness, poor Baubles! sad Life really does turn on a sixpence, doesn’t it? I hope her recovery continues apace.

Wheniwasyourage I’ve got to do it all again in three months! We’re buying a new-build which won’t be ready until August so we’re going into a one-bed flat for now and most of our goods and chattels will go into storage. It’ll be fun living in a city for thee months, with buses and shops and stuff like that, though!

brook2704 Tue 24-May-22 12:24:27

Baggs thank you so much for letting us know, what dreadful news about baubles wishing her all the very best for a speedy recovery ? Also so kind of her DD to take time to let us all know at such a worrying time ❤️

Naughtyneine Tue 24-May-22 12:29:10

Sending love and prayers to Baggs and Baubles... Keep us posted please

gillgran Tue 24-May-22 12:36:27

What a traumatic time for baubles & her family, best wishes for a good recovery.
Thank you Baggs for letting us know, do pass on our good wishes.

soop Tue 24-May-22 13:00:42

Baggs That is shocking news about our dear friend, Baubles. We both send every good wish to her and her family, who are going through such a stressful, unexpected event. Baubles is a lovely, kind lady. I can hardly begin to imagine how desperately ill she became, and so suddenly too. flowers
Thank you for informing us, Baggs

Pittcity Tue 24-May-22 13:30:53

Sending gentle hugs to Baubles and her family.

Bellanonna Tue 24-May-22 13:46:44

My goodness, what awful news about Baubles. What a shock, too, as it was so sudden, I’m sure you will pass on the Kitchen’s very best wishes to her daughter for continued good progress, Baggs.

soop Tue 24-May-22 15:13:46

Naughtyneine My good wishes to you. Mr Soop has an AAA was on the cusp of needing treatment when it was last scanned. I have had a hiatus hernia and my meds work wonders. You have been ultra busy. Perhaps a wee breather from time to time would be a very sensible plan.

Sue GOOD luck with persuading your husband that a certain kitchen drawer's contents need serious sorting. Mr S has stuff up in the loft. He keeps thinking about disposing of many use--ful--less items...to date, nothing has changed. I cannot climb into the loft. If I could...wink

soop Tue 24-May-22 15:15:57

My thoughts keep going back to Baubles. She must have been feeling awful for some time prior to having to go into hospital. Please get well soon, dear lady. flowers
