A ‘happy to be celebrating the jubilee’ thread.

I shall go to the Picnic in the Park in our neighbourhood on Sunday, weather permitting. I watched the Trooping the Colour yesterday and learned a thing or two that I didn’t know before. In the afternoon I went to have a look at the church flower decoration that my granddaughter did in her village church. She’s not a church goer but grows a lot of flowers so was asked by the village shop if she’d do an arrangement for them. Today it’s just a but if gardening. I have my bunting up and am happy to celebrate our Queen’s long and successful reign.

I thought the Archbishop of York gave a very good address. He comes across as much more natural that the AoC who always seems very pompous.

Catherine looks wonderful, but then she is a dress designer’s dream, so tall and slim.

We are very happy to be celebrating such a momentous occasion. We have never seen it before nor will we, very probably, ever see it again. I do not believe she will abdicate - it would go against the natural law of succession.
We are having a street party - organised by the younger members of our road. We are probably the oldest residents?? looking forward to it.
I think we are lucky to still have a monarchy - it may not last much longer- but the existence of it, denies absolute power to anyone else - a useful tool when there are despots like Putin around.
I was so pleased to hear David Dimbleby again - he had some help with identifying some of the congregation but no matter, he has such a good voice for presenting serious occasions. Also am so delighted the wonderful Kirsty Young is back again - such a great presenter - good health to her in the future.

Yes, I’m celebrating the whole Jubilee Weekend. And I’m performing in the Jubilee Pageant in London on Sunday - watch out for the fish behind the float with the huge oak tree with Maypole-type ribbons.

Why bother posting..... it was started as a happy thread I thought .

I’m not particularly a Royalist, but it’s a preferable arrangement to President Johnson! ? I think the Queen is a lovely person; she didn’t choose her destiny, but I don’t agree with all the pampering and curtseying and doffing of caps. At least the younger royals have made themselves more accessible to the general public. If we go back far enough, maybe we’re all related to the royals, like Josh Widdicombe/Ralph Fiennes/Danny Dyer, etc…?

After the last few years down to the Covid virus it was great seeing everyone looking happy yesterday on The Mall. My DS who lives at the other side of the world was watching with his family. It gave me a feeling of pride in our country. Going now to celebrate my mothers 102nd birthday at her care home the bunting n cake, balloons etc all ready to take. Well done for starting this post after the ones I read yesterday

We have our bunting up, watching everything on TV. I have quite a few older neighbours and made them all afternoon tea for yesterdays Trooping The Colour.
I really like the Queen, a marvellous lady.

Monarchy is an anachronism and I would like to see an end to it. It is time we became a ‘grown up’ democracy with a proper constitution. However, I regard the Jubilee celebrations in exactly the same way as I do a sporting event, such as a Wimbledon tournament or football cup final. I have no interest in the game and definitely no emotional investment in the outcome, but appreciate that some people do have that, and wish them all the best in their enjoyment of the experience.

I,m Welsh and live in Germany and we,re having a street party tomorrow organised from the British womens club . Just finished baking elderflower cupcakes for the celebration . I must say I am feeling a bit homesick after watching the celebrations . Us Brits really know how to celebrate ????????? And I’m so proud of our Queen .

Well, Mike Tindall was singing the National Anthem lustily, and obviously knew the words!

Not sure if he was so knowledgeable with the hymns.

Our Queen's Green Canopy tree which was planted today. A permanent memorial for a wonderful jubilee. I hope her Majesty likes it.

Yes I played my Bagpipes both before and after the lighting of one of the beacons last night, after really enjoying the Trooping of the Colour on TV where I felt the Micks did a fantastic job fir their ‘Boss’ and the two Royal Princes carried their function in an exemplary way; today watched the service on the TV and tomorrow I am once again playing for a feté and then later at a Senior’s Tea.

I think this has been a marvellous celebration of a very long, duty laden life, that our local villages have really bought into, more as a celebration of ‘getting through Covid’ than as a Royal occasion

We're enjoying the weekend celebrations from the comfort of our sofa. Bottle of wine and a Platinum Pudding (trifle) in the 'fridge.

No parties or events in our village, no bunting just the odd flag here and there. We watched the Trooping the Colour yesterday, so impressive! I watch it every year. No other country does events like that as well as we do. Makes me very proud to be English and especially a Londoner. If we were still in London I'd probably have camped out on the Mall, but DH hates being in large crowds of people. He would have come with me but he wouldn't have enjoyed it.

We didn't see the service from St Pauls this morning, we overslept, but will certainly follow other events over the weekend.

It's lovely to see so many young people, and visitors from overseas, appreciating and celebrating the exceptional lifetime service the Queen has given to our country and the Commonwealth.

It was Avaline, ever so many people came up and commented positively on the way out, I was waiting for my lift home, but not a single negative comment and the children particularly enjoyed ‘God Save the Queen’ at the end waving their paper flags and dancing.

We're having a lunch party on Sunday for about 25 people. Not so much jubilee celebration though, just fun. I'm a bit worried about the possibility of rain though..

Zara looked amazing. The hot pink and periwinkle combination was right on.

I loved Eugenies dress, but not her hat. A bold color choice like orange would have supported a bold hat as well.

They all looked happy and relaxed.

I know the school my daughter works in had a party yesterday but haven't seen or heard about anything happening in the city of Aberdeen
