Just watching the concert at Buckingham Palace and who should pop up but Her Majesty doing a beautiful clip with Paddington Bear. Even better than her appearance with James Bond

Joseanne

And the wrist bands in the audience are controlled by someone lighting them up in different colours.

I noticed everyone in the royal box were also wearing the wristbands.

Love that picture cossybabe I saw it on Twitter earlier and it bought a tear to my eye. So poignant.

Larsonsmum Mon 06-Jun-22 12:23:53

HM the Queen with Paddington totally outdid her encounter with Bond!! Loved it !!

If Neil Diamond too ill to perform Sweet Caroline then it really should have been left out. (Don't understand how it was voted the 'jubilee song?)?Yes i agree Rod would have been better doing one of his own well- known numbers.Although he did Baby Jane and let his back up singers perform most of it sadly....?

I thought the Queen and Paddington was magic! Excellent performance by both. I didn't see the whole concert, will catch up once back hone (no catch up TV at our caravan). Agree it's not possible to please all of the people all of the time, but fair play to whoever put together a programme with something in for a mixed age, mixed taste audience.
I'm probably being controversial here, but when watching the pageant yesterday, I had to wonder at the expression often on Prince George's face - a sort of bewildered sneer sonetimes? However I do get that the younger royal children were in a very long and tiring set of events and hats off to their parents for keeping them engaged as best as possible for such long events.

Best of night was definitely Her Majesty with Paddington bear.?

No way will Prince Charles hand over the reins (reign?) to William, well I for one will hope not. Just because he’s over 70 doesn’t mean he’s not in touch with the modern world.

harrigran Mon 06-Jun-22 12:34:32

The Queen with Paddington was the best part of the evening. It's a wonderful world song was horrible, I think the singer ruined it.
I don't know who decided to feature a lot of old has beens, they were not particularly entertaining.

Loved it all though thought Sweet Caroline was absolutely tortured by Rod Stewart. Think Diana Ross spot was bit odd. At one stage she was talking and singing at same time. Not worthy of the finale IMO. Should have been QAL for a rousing end to the show. Adam Lambert as always was phenomenal and I cannot tell you, as a Glambert of many years standing, how fabulous it is to see him on prime time TV strutting his stuff and getting widespread attention. I imagine he was pinching himself to see if he was dreaming. Still underrated despite heading up Queen for many years now (Queen are touring UK at the moment. If gigs are your thing GO SEE THEM. Phenomenal show) Delighted to see Jason as Joseph. A long time favourite in this house. Overall a brilliant night. Lasers, lights, spectacle. Bravo.

David Attenborough is 96, is he out of touch with modern world ?

TiggyW Mon 06-Jun-22 12:41:32

Surely Sweet Caroline was included because of the football connection, but I think that Rod’s voice is getting weaker now with age (sadly). ?
I thought Queen should have done the grand finale rather than being on at the beginning. ?
Andrea Bocelli was fantastic.?
I think I was too busy having children to appreciate Duran Duran in the 80s! I love them now!?

Alioop Mon 06-Jun-22 12:53:52

The Queen was fabulous with Paddington, so funny. We now know what she carries in her handbag. I thought Diana Ross was great, although I was nervous watching her in her frock and the steps...Rod Stewart let his singers do the work for him and as for Duran Duran, as an 80s fan, I loved them.

I really enjoyed everything especially photos of the Queen through the ages. Reminds me my Mum was co-driver with the Queen they were called the Fannies probably spelt that wrong. A thoroughly enjoyable weekend. I hope I’m right in saying loved by all. Only the British in their uniqueness could pull off a pageant like that.!!!

I thought it was all rather wonderful but I have to admit to having tears in my eyes seeing the Queen on the balcony. It did feel like goodbye and thank you Ma’am. It made me sad tbh.

I haven’t managed to watch the pageant from yesterday as we were at a neighbourhood gathering.
I enjoyed most of the concert . Not the awful versions of Sweet Caroline or Wonderful World though.
Queen should definitely have been the final act.
I must be rather odd as a I seem to be the only person who didn’t think much of the Queen and Paddington. I found it a bit cringey. Takes all sorts I suppose.

Aepgirl Mon 06-Jun-22 13:11:07

Who doesn’t love Paddington Bear, and for those of us who love the Queen, it couldn’t have been better.

Daisend1 Mon 06-Jun-22 13:27:06

Noticable that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wasted no time in returning to the USA. Wonder the hurry.?

volver Mon 06-Jun-22 13:28:14

Because that's where they live...?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 06-Jun-22 13:30:10

The Queen tapping her teaspoon was fab.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 06-Jun-22 13:30:11

I’m not complaining.

Lizzie44 Mon 06-Jun-22 13:36:35

The Queen and Paddington? Not quite enough to eradicate my republican tendancies but adorable. It confirms my respect for the Queen herself and my feelings about her - she's a good egg. And her Jubilee has given our nation a much-needed positive and feel-good boost.

Attended the Thanksgiving Service, seen the Queen, nothing else left for them to do.

Yesterday’s pageant with the gathering of Royals and all the children made it patently clear that they are no longer part of it all.

Which is what they wanted.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 06-Jun-22 13:45:48

Perhaps Netflix had done all the filming they wanted.

Elton was much better than Rod.

Yes I personally thought Rod was dreadful .... needs to pack it in now!

Celeste whoever she is murdered What a wonderful world in my opinion too .... overall though I thought it was good .... as was the parade yesterday.

Prince George needs some face training, every time the camera caught him he was pulling a weird face! Not as blessed as the other 2 sadly .... whoops, is that treason?

Only caught up with the concert last night. It was fabUlous. I enjoyed every single moment. What an honour for all the participants who gave their all.
I did say to Orlin that I wish we’d gone to London just to be part of this special occasion but he pointed out that sitting sipping a pink gin cocktail whilst being comfortable in my pyjamas was probably better for me. He’s right again of course ?.
