That was a right old strop prince Louie pulled off watching the parade with poor Kate trying to be firm in the midst of the worlds eyes He pulled faces, he thumbed his nose tried to smack her face a few times I think that he needed the naughty step , I wonder if that’s where he went when they got home He’s obviously ‘the character’ in the family

When I was a religious maniac my children were expected to sit through a church service every Sunday. Of course they would have been bored, but they were brought up not to behave selfishly as to discomfort other other people. I could trust them to behave in all social situations. Can you imagine Queen Elizabeth hitting her mother in the face?

“Can you imagine Queen Elizabeth hitting her mother in the face?” asks Jaxie.

No, but I can imagine Princess Margaret doing it.

I expect Crawfie would never allow it!

JaneJudge Thu 09-Jun-22 20:41:36

I was smacked really hard at home so I behaved well in public. I thought the young royals parenting was refreshing and of its time

Vintagejazz Thu 09-Jun-22 21:06:36

He was behaving like a normal 4 year old bored at being dragged along dutifully to an occasion that was unsuited to his age.

Kate was behaving like a normal 'smiling through gritted teeth, but I'd love to give him what for' parent stuck in a public place with her misbehaving offspring.

In other words a perfectly normal mother and child.

Lot of fuss about nothing

GrannyGravy13 Thu 09-Jun-22 21:08:55

Vintagejazz totally agree ??

Iam64 Thu 09-Jun-22 22:04:43

Vintage jazz (and JaneJudge) - spot on

Lucca Thu 09-Jun-22 22:08:01

criticise Megan and Harry and the fires of hell descend

Such rubbish. Harry and MEGHAN get far more “criticism “ on GN.

Anniebach Thu 09-Jun-22 22:12:36

They are adults.

volver Thu 09-Jun-22 22:18:25

Anyway, nobody has criticised any children except for saying Louis was badly behaved, which he was.

The days of deference to Royal children and pretending they are perfect, those days are over I'm glad to say.

Callistemon21 Thu 09-Jun-22 22:22:55

It was quite a relief to see he wasn't perfect.

Part of the modernisation of the Royal Family!

henetha Thu 09-Jun-22 22:38:41

Imagine the criticism if he had just sat there and hardly moved
His parents would have undoubtedly been accused of repressing their children. They can't win can they.
Thankfully most of us parents know what 4 year olds can be like.

merlotgran Thu 09-Jun-22 22:46:19

The teaching of good manners has clearly changed a great deal since I was bringing up my children.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 09-Jun-22 22:47:12

Couldn’t agree more.

Callistemon21 Thu 09-Jun-22 22:50:11

Mine never behaved like that as far as I remember but then, perhaps they were never put in a situation like that.

volver Thu 09-Jun-22 22:52:19

And another here.

DH, completely out of the blue watching the news tonight, said "That's awful, why does he think he can make that rude sign to his mother?"

Callistemon21 Thu 09-Jun-22 23:24:18

He's started nursery, apparently.
He didn't learn it from nowhere.

Joseanne Thu 09-Jun-22 23:41:15

He probably didn't even "think", he just reacted.
Why?
Because he has been made to sit in a chair for 3 hours.
Because he has been told off or made fun of by 5 family members.
Because he is not a machine that can be programmed.
Because he has, due to frustration, completely forgotten what he has been told about behaving.
Because he may have difficulties articulating his problem.
Because he has been fed too many sugary sweets.
Take your pick.

merlotgran Thu 09-Jun-22 23:54:59

Not sure I believe the sugary sweets explanation from Mike Tindall.

Nice try.

BlueSky Fri 10-Jun-22 00:16:35

Agree Merlot I doubt the children are allowed any sugary sweets!

Grannynannywanny Fri 10-Jun-22 00:44:20

Looking at this photo they certainly enjoyed their sugary sweets.

lemsip Fri 10-Jun-22 00:53:04

The thumbing the nose is a fun thing seen on tv kids programmes over the years.........

Lucca Fri 10-Jun-22 06:24:55

Anniebach

They are adults.

Not my point at all. You claim criticism of m and h brings down fires of hell! On the contrary ! Criticism of them is probably the most popular opinion on GN

Joseanne Fri 10-Jun-22 06:36:12

And my two are always mischievous, so it was just trying to keep a lid on it. There were a lot of sweets out back though, so they had complete sugar-highs
Mike T's own words.
(Just like many of us heard Meghan's own words on Oprah or Birbalsingh's own words and go by them.)
Although I don't consider the sweets as the main catalyst for his undesirable behaviour.

merlotgran Fri 10-Jun-22 09:47:20

Grannynannywanny

Looking at this photo they certainly enjoyed their sugary sweets.

This is the funniest photo of the whole weekend.

All that Norland nannying and expensive education undone in a second by a solemn faced three year old and a packet of sweets! ?

Is it comfy in the tower, Mike?

Glorianny Fri 10-Jun-22 10:39:01

There is a Horrid Henry story where Henry tells Perfect Peter that thumbing his nose is the proper way to greet the queen. I wonder if someone read it to Louis?

BlueSky Fri 10-Jun-22 10:55:07

I knew about ‘The Terrible Twos’ but not about ‘The Terrible Fours’!
