Virtual cruise Lyon to Avignon and Arles

CaravanSerai Wed 22-Jun-22 21:36:03

Here’s a plan. We are in the South of France and that to me says glamour. I say we hire a colossally vulgar gin-palace motor cruiser in Marseille. I can skipper it along the coast (trust me, I am qualified).

We can stop off in Toulon, Saint Tropez, Cannes, Nice and any glamorous resort in between, finishing in Monte Carlo.

Then train from MC to Basel takes 12 hours costs only 60 Euro.

There we pick up a new cruise Basel to Amsterdam taking in Strasbourg, Koblenz, Cologne etc.

If we hit the 1000 post mark before we get to Basel we can start Rhinemaidens anyway. Things don’t have to be that neat and tidy.

Is that the kind of thing you had in mind when you suggested the Rhine Maw or am I barking up the wrong arbre?

I'm afraid I don't understand your input on these discussions, SD.
Your posts seem to distance yourself from the action. For example, you are using the words you people themselves.
Thus you convey the impression that you are not so much a participant as merely a detached advice-giver.

Sounds great CS.
I'll keep on with the bunny food?
Thank you.

MawtheMerrier Wed 22-Jun-22 21:47:16

Well thought out CS- should keep us all happy

Well, as it is RhineMaidens it is clearly an all female trip, so I cannot be coming along, so I am just trying, as I started this thread, to be helpful with showing you options for your virtual journey.

MawtheMerrier Wed 22-Jun-22 22:03:31

Oh, were you aboard SD ?
Can’t say I noticed - thought you had jumped ship way back.

CaravanSerai Wed 22-Jun-22 22:09:58

OK folks! I have found us a craft lying Marseille which I think is very glamorous. It's actually a sailer cruiser called the Aresteas. It only cost 12,000,000 euros but who cares? This is fantasy. Three photos of the boat and indoor and outdoor dining spaces. Berths are very luxurious and it has a sauna! What do you think?

StarDreamer Wed 22-Jun-22 22:11:49

Enjoy your trip. I started the thread for people to enjoy, and you all are, so I succeeded.

Mollygo Wed 22-Jun-22 22:13:09

That looks ideal for the next part of our voyage. Where do we sign?

ixion Wed 22-Jun-22 22:21:47

We're not going to have a disgruntled Russian oligarch (or henchmen??) on our backs, are we??

CaravanSerai Wed 22-Jun-22 22:21:49

You're onboard Molly. Here's your berth for the next week or so. Do you think you'll manage?

And for Joseanne a couple of pics of the galley. Notice the very large wine fridge on the right.

Doodle Wed 22-Jun-22 22:27:40

Stardreamer it was a good idea for a thread and people are enjoying it thank you. We don’t need advice or ideas though, we can just ramble on as the cruise, train, yacht take us.
Perhaps you could read some of the other threads and see how people just chat, that might help you mix in a bit better.

Caravan my goodness you’ve come up trumps with that.
I might need a whole new wardrobe. ?

Mollygo Wed 22-Jun-22 22:39:23

Thanks Caravanserai, that looks perfect.

Doodle Wed 22-Jun-22 22:41:38

If anyones looking for me…..you know where I’ll be ?

StarDreamer Wed 22-Jun-22 22:42:49

Of course I couldn't have mixed in with a group of women talking in the manner they have been, it is just not done!

CaravanSerai Wed 22-Jun-22 22:43:01

ixion The marina was chocabloc with oligarchs flogging off their assets. I am assured this yacht has impeccable provenance but best not to ask too many questions.

Doodle Diamond-studded bikinis de rigeur.

Doodle Wed 22-Jun-22 22:43:18

Or in my bedroom … might need more than one bottle of champers though

CaravanSerai Wed 22-Jun-22 22:49:29

You found it Doodle. It's fab, isn't it?

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 22-Jun-22 22:49:46

Count me in! I feel a whole new wardrobe coming on too … ????

CaravanSerai Wed 22-Jun-22 22:55:51

I suspect the least used facility will be the onboard gym but who knows? Someone may just feel it necessary to work off a JoseannePud.

We shall need an onboard masseur to go with the onboard massage table, obviously.

Anyone who wants to look at all the phones just bung Fraser Aresteas into your Google box.

MawtheMerrier Wed 22-Jun-22 22:57:15

Of course I couldn't have mixed in with a group of women talking in the manner they have been, it is just not done!

Was it the “group of women” or “ in the manner they have been” ?
Why is it not done to mix in or contribute to a good-humoured chat?
Therein lies the problem or as the physio said, ”Aye, there’s the rub”..

CaravanSerai Wed 22-Jun-22 23:03:39

Is the physio already on board Maw. I radioed ship-to-shore for a masseur. Not always the same thing is it? wink

MawtheMerrier Thu 23-Jun-22 03:40:01

Joseanne Thu 23-Jun-22 07:04:32

We're you messing about on the pole CaravanSerai ? You should have taken your heels off, it's pole fitness on board, not pole dancing. (Big difference, actually being considered as an Olympic sport alongside the cross bar routines.)
Anyway, is there any chance of getting to St. Tropez for lunch?

Joseanne Thu 23-Jun-22 07:05:07
