I’ve bought the new book about Meghan by Tom Bower. The reason, he is credited with being an extremely accurate reporter and will not include information in his books unless it can be verified twice over. I’m reading the book in order to find out the truth.
I may buy his book on Boris Johnson next.

Prince Harry’s speech
(458 Posts) Couldn’t resist
What do you all make of Prince Harry’s latest venture into the world of public speaking?
Chestnut
Meghan has brought so much bad feeling and backstabbing into the Royal Family, it is really tragic. All these books written not only by them but others, telling lurid tales from behind the scenes, who said what and who did what. It's horrible.
Oh come on if you know your history you would be aware the RF have been at it for years. Roughly
Duchess ofWindsor v Queen Mum
Queen v Margaret
Margaret v Tony (when they were divorced)
Philip v Duchess of York
The bad feeling, back stabbing, bad press-ing and lots of other stuff isn't new.
Keeps the peasants occupied, doesn’t it ?
Absolutely agree with you Glorianny but that doesn’t lesson my interest in what happened with regard to Meghan. We are constantly told that we don’t know, we weren’t there. Well Tom Bower is extremely well respected for his books which are carefully and thoroughly researched. He writes nothing that can’t be verified. Therefore I want to read his book to find out. My choice.
Did the Queen Mother, The Queen, Lord Snowdon, Margaret,
Phillip, give Oprah/ Bashir type tv interviews ?
No, they didn’t did they Annie. I think that’s why people are so interested. They want to know the truth. That interview was an appalling thing to do. What was the motivation for it? That’s what I want to know.
I think things have changed a lot in the way that people speak out now if they feel they have been wronged. Fair enough. It's a bit like a blame exercise and these days there are so many ways in which to do it, books, interviews, social media etc. The royals who put up and shut up actually in my opinion have it harder than the ones who sound off. The issue is, however, is M & H's version the truth?
Incidentally I am on holiday in Brittany this month and what is on the shelves but Scoobie's book about M & H "Libres". Either the French are very interested too or someone is doing a good marketing job.
It all boils down to getting your word out there and convincing people.
I agree the interview and its timing was appalling. And now there's more to come.
Maddy there has been no back stabbing by the list by Chestnut, it has all been reported by the media, this is the reason I asked. Diana , Megan and Harry have given tv interviews and they plunged the knife in.
We will never know the truth about the Queen Mother and
Duchess of Windsor, we are told the Q.M. couldn’t forgive because of the abdication , I think she wanted to marry the
Duke of Windsor but he didn’t want to marry her, I don’t
.know.
Yes the interview was appalling.
A holiday in Brittany Joseanne
How lovely! I guess the weather is similar to here, hot and sunny, yet without the possibly extreme heat of the Med?
I think I will try to get Tom Bower’s H and M book from the library. Like others have said he is a well respected author with a reputation for meticulous research.
Harry and Meghan. The gift which keeps on giving as they say!

Tom Bower used to be respected for his books and his research, the last two, especially the Corbyn one was slated for its inaccuracies www.theguardian.com/books/2019/feb/24/dangerous-hero-tom-bower-jeremy-corbyn-hatchet-job-failure
And the Johnson one for its lack of content www.newstatesman.com/long-reads/2020/10/the-gambler-boris-johnson-biography-tom-bower-review
Perhaps he is now too busy jumping on bandwagons and making money.
Approaching 30 degrees next week ,
* JenniferEccles*. Unusual for the area, all very dry and even recent fires across the moors.
My limited experience, via the local twinning association, of the French is that they are all absolutely fascinated by the Royal Family. At the time they all believed that Prince Philip gave orders for Diana to be killed because obviously it couldn't be the fault of the French driver.
You're right eazybee, they are fascinated. When they talk about La Reine in France you know straightaway it is our one despite there being umpteen queens around the world.
I think they sometimes feel a bit of nostalgia, maybe even regret! Even a bit of envy!
That’s hot enough Joseanne!
Well for me anyway!

I thought he did at the time,so did a lot of people. Now I believe it was MI 6 or whatever they call the people who protect the status quo.
Nothing to do with not wearing a seatbelt, speeding, and a drunk driver then?
Nothing to do with leaving a luxurious apartment in the Hotel
knowing the paps were outside just to speed through Paris to
another luxurious apartment at night
Annie I'm convinced the parading around the yacht in the Med was done expressly for the paps, but why didn't they fly directly home to London from Sardinia? I don't get the Paris stopover. Maybe someone can enlighten me.
Joseanne they stopped in Paris because Diana wanted to see
the home of The Windsors, Al Fayed owned it, her visit was
announce prior to her visit.
Sow now apparently Harry is filing his second lawsuit against the UK government and Scotland Yard over the decision to ban him from paying for Police protection in Britain. Apparently he doesn't feel safe coming over here.
Prince Harry second lawsuit
I imagine most people would imagine he could afford to pay for his own protection, and he's not a member of the RF any more so why should we pay it.
Why does it always feel as though someone else is pulling his strings?
Why does it feel as though someone else is pulling his strings?
Probably because they are!
I'm getting confused. Which system does Harry want to be part of? He can't be in both.
Thanks Anniebach about the Paris stopover, but I'm still not sure why they needed to go into Central Paris to dine at the Ritz. There must have been a few good takeaways near Dodi's appartment.
Joseanne because they chose to dance with the devil ?
I also find it puzzling that Harry wants to be ‘just Harry’ but also wants privileges that are only given to senior royals. He certainly isn’t a senior royal anymore is he?
When Meghan and Harry arrived here for the jubilee celebrations, it was reported that the Queen sent her personal car for them. This car is bullet proof and has darkened windows at the back to protect the privacy of the occupants.
Meghan wound down her window and looked at the crowds! She was photographed doing this. If they are seriously worried about security, why would she do this?
I find it very odd that someone has offered to pay for their personal security which would mean there would be no cost to the taxpayer and has been refused the right to do so, but the government is prepared to instead spend thousands of pounds on a legal challenge, which they may or may not be able to recover if they win. I'd far rather they'd just let him cough up.
