Couldn’t resist grin What do you all make of Prince Harry’s latest venture into the world of public speaking?

Stiller Thu 28-Jul-22 18:29:32

Harry did well! I’m really happy he is finding his way out in the world.

Prentice Thu 28-Jul-22 18:57:32

I am not at all sure that he is coping well with life in the US, but that is his choice after all.
I do try not to read about his ramblings or that of Meghan either.
the stardust of British Royalty may start to wear thin soon.

Just to keep everyone up to speed ...
it's time for Tom Bower to move over because Scobie has just announced he can now share he is working on a BRAND NEW BOOK!! Apparently the whole world will be talking about it, so GN isn't that different!! What with Harry's own memoirs later this year it is all getting a bit silly, tit for tat, but at least my dog gets more paper chewing in!

Lady Colin Campbell has a few choice things to say about Meghan and likens her to Rebekah Vardy. She says both are 'women with no apparent talent who think they know everything.'
Lady Colin Cambell on Meghan

women with no apparent talent who think they know everything.

Says the woman who claims descent from Charlemagne and married someone she had known for only 5 days before getting divorced a year later. Yet still uses his name 50 years later. Don't know about you, but I hang on her every word.

Joseanne Wed 03-Aug-22 12:57:25

I'm not very keen on Lady Colin but she has a point that there are definite parallels with M and RV. On the other thread, someone here mentioned how the mention of mental health issues conveniently comes into play when someone feels wronged, not that I am dismissing them outright.
It's just that I start to feel uncomfortable about all the claims lies which suddenly surface in these laying it bare interviews.

Meghan has brought so much bad feeling and backstabbing into the Royal Family, it is really tragic. All these books written not only by them but others, telling lurid tales from behind the scenes, who said what and who did what. It's horrible.

I’ve ordered the ‘Revenge’ book from the library.

Looking forward to reading it.

Why?

Masochism?

Anniebach Wed 03-Aug-22 16:05:35

I am reading ‘Revenge’, very balanced book

volver Wed 03-Aug-22 16:07:52

When people are so enraged/disappointed/angry about Meghan and Harry, and think they push themselves forward too much are are never off the telly....why do they read books about them?

Joseanne Wed 03-Aug-22 16:23:39

Woo-hoo! Glad I'm in good company, that's at least four or maybe five of us reading 'Revenge'.

Anniebach Wed 03-Aug-22 16:52:48

Joseanne with Tom Bower you won’t get ‘inside sources’ , he
names sources and certainly has researched

Joseanne Wed 03-Aug-22 18:27:04

Yes Anniebach, the Scobie books are written as the mouthpiece of one person, (and we all know who that is). The Tom Bower book as I understand it is corrobation from many sources who all seem to agree fundamentally.

Anniebach Wed 03-Aug-22 18:35:37

Scobie is now attacking William, William has asked that the
Diana interview with Bashir will not be shown again, this following the court case and the BBC being fined.

Scobie claims it’s a move to silence Diana !

merlotgran Wed 03-Aug-22 19:40:29

Diana’s dead! How much more silent can you be?

That is absolutely ridiculous because Diana, I am sure, would be very upset at being hoodwinked into saying things she may not have said had she known.

Poor woman, leave her to RIP.

I hope he hasn't named his sources.

They may spoken in confidence

You ask ‘Why’?

Because I’m interested in the Royal Family actually, not just M&H, but they are the gift that keeps on giving, providing plenty of reading material.

Am reading Anne Glenconner’s book at the moment, all about her life as a Lady In Waiting.

Have also read books about Diana, the Windsors, the Queen, et al, not forgetting the one that was written about Meghan when she was about to marry Harry, think it was called ‘Meghan, A Hollywood Princess’ or similar.

A very apt title as it subsequently turned out.

Joseanne Thu 04-Aug-22 08:14:33

Don't worry Calendargirl, I'm sure you're aware that reading "Revenge" won't cause you any serious lasting damage! grin

tickingbird Thu 04-Aug-22 08:26:13

You really don’t have to explain yourself Calendargirl. After all, as someone stated yesterday we aren’t a police state smile

Anniebach Thu 04-Aug-22 08:51:16

Another Diana book, Ken Wharfe

Calendargirl Thu 04-Aug-22 10:02:05

we aren’t a police state smile

Sometimes feels like it on GN.
