Oh my goodness, just the thought of that has made me feel sick! shock

Oysters. We were told at primary school assembly by headmistress not to eat them as they were polluted and a child had died. The seaside town is now famous for its oysters !
Rabbit, my mum lied to us as kids that pet rabbits had gone on holiday. No they were served in rabbit stew the next day ! Times were hard then but still am traumatised that I ate Fluffy !

Meat fat - except very crisped up streaky bacon.
Cream
Raw oysters - vastly overrated IMO - no wonder that in Dickens’ time they were considered poor people’s food. Much nicer cooked, I’m sure.

And oddly enough, chorizo. For ages I had a recipe for an Andalusian chorizo/bean stew which I had often meant to make. When I eventually got around to it, the amount of fat that came off the chorizo (it had to be fried first) and the extremely strong smell, absolutely turned my stomach. No way will I touch the stuff or cook with it now.

Many, many things. Especially slithery, fluttery or alive ones.

pensionpat Sat 13-Aug-22 11:10:34

Oysters. Most offal. Anything slimy.

Oh I was served the same tea the day after Jacky Fluff died, Jaffacake. I just had the one mouthful before it dawned on me that we weren’t in fact eating chicken, as I’d been told. angry

I really dislike the bit of the biscuit that breaks off when dunked - but would eat it for a fiver!

Hot milk is a no-go for me but again, if the price is right....

Gillycats Sat 13-Aug-22 11:28:34

Meat and fish.

Oldbat1 Sat 13-Aug-22 11:40:27

Milk, puddings, cream, cheese (other than cheddar), yoghurt, kidneys, tongue, rabbit, horse, olives, anchovies, sardines, snails, oysters. My list goes on and on so I’ll call a halt!

MissAdventure Sat 13-Aug-22 11:41:36

I used to get in terrible trouble when mum made rabbit stew.

I can remember tears running down my face, and my spoon shaking as I tried to raise it to my mouth. (Having already been warned not to "start") grin

Baggytrazzas Sat 13-Aug-22 11:44:05

at least your mum didn't lie to you and tell you it was chicken.

nanna8 Sat 13-Aug-22 11:45:37

I love oysters, my favourite food. Another thing I don’t like is silverbeet though I do like spinach.

HowVeryDareYou Sat 13-Aug-22 11:54:05

any offal
oysters, whelks, cockles, mussels

MissAdventure Sat 13-Aug-22 11:55:36

She used to do that too, and we both knew I knew!
It was a no win situation.

Bodach

I have occasionally answered the question "Do you have any specific dietary requirements?" with "I prefer large portions"...

heh heh this is what my husband would say.

Mine Sat 13-Aug-22 12:03:12

Runny egg yolk
Dates or figs
Trifle
Jaffa cakes
Don't know which is the worst......think it would be runny egg yolk(boak)....

MissAdventure Sat 13-Aug-22 12:06:52

"Skirt".
I still have no idea, but it was a cut of beef that my mum made stew from, and I hated it!!!
Everyone else tucked in, but I always asked "Is this skirt"? (With tearful eyes, again)

The word "skirt" haunts me to this day.

Anything that's alive. Anything that was cooked while alive.

I had battered cod at the seaside, in an attempt to make myself eat fish, and found a worm in it.

That was about 40 years ago. Never again!!!

adrisco Sat 13-Aug-22 12:20:28

Mustard. Olives.

Maggiemaybe Sat 13-Aug-22 12:29:05

Oh no, worms in fish! I’ve never found one, unless I’ve eaten it without noticing. envyenvy

I love fish, but will always be wary of skate since I was served skate wing that reeked of wee, and tasted just as I’d imagine it (if I had to) as well.

HousePlantQueen Sat 13-Aug-22 12:29:52

I dn't eat meat now and haven't for many years, but when I did, I was repulsed by offal. I can't stand anything with jelly on it, just seeing jellied eels makes me gag. The thing most likely to make me heave though is a lump in mashed potato. Blimey, my eyes are watering just at the thought as I type this.....

MissAdventure Sat 13-Aug-22 12:32:03

I used to get told off for inspecting every mouthful as a child.

I'm surprised I've managed to get so fat!! smile

Probably if you enjoy something you're likely to just tuck in and miss seeing any "extras". shock
