Disgusting? A pretty strong word for something that is natural IMO
Good Morning Saturday 25th April 2026
HMRC slightly angry is an understatement
Just watching the news on TV and a hideous beard appeared. What is it about this latest trend?
I seriously can'too stand looking at them and I ALWAYS end up sitting on the opposite table in a restaurant to one, ughh i see soup dripped upon this ugly mound of hair, I see spaghetti caught up on the bristles as its been sucked up, ohhh my life there is absolutely ziltch attractive about them.
Get this, last christmas I even saw a chap decorating his beard with miniature baubles.... no need for words as my expression said it all hahaha.
Yes, each to their own, Im all for each to their own BUT beards are excluded hahahahaha.
Disgusting? A pretty strong word for something that is natural IMO

I think I've told the story on GN before but here goes anyway. MIL would not allow a beard or moustache in her house, made DFinL shave off his moustache the day he came from WW11. We married and went off on Honeymoon to Italy where DH got sunburnt on the first day, Did not shave for a fortnight and turned up to work (family firm) with a full curly beard. His DM went ballistic when DH refused to remove it and contacted me to insist that I MADE him shave it off. He never did but kept it neat and tidy. Friends DDs & DGC find it quite strange to look at our wedding albums and see him beardless. I tell them it is my first husband, which is true - First & Last.
Brilliant story... ohh heck your MIL sounds as if she were enraged....
Spice I agree I find the title of this thread quite nasty It’s the posters opinion and it really would be fine to read I think beards are disgusting but to call them disgusting is really insulting half of the husbands, sons, grandsons, and friends on here and in the country itself I don’t think many men walk around with dirty, food encrusted facial hair, I ve never seen any and I would say most men take great care of their beards
It’s something that has come in and out of fashion throughout time, and is just personal choice like wearing lipstick or plucking eyebrows
I m not sure where the original poster has been to call it the ‘latest trend’ it’s been very fashionable for some years ?
My DS has a beard.
It often looks rather unruly, it’s ok when he has had it trimmed, but doesn’t stay like that for long.
To me, it makes him look older (and fatter, tbh) but hey ho, I’m only his mum! My opinion isn’t requested, or given, it’s his face.
My husband has had a beard all of our 43 year marriage and before. I find it very attractive. It is always well groomed and has never given me a sore face or a sore anywhere else! Stupid OP.
My DH has a beard, he is absolutely fastidious about personal grooming and it is neat and well trimmed, I have never ever seen him with any traces of food on it. During the years we have been married there have been many many remarks about my distinguished husband.
The whole concept of grown men being unable to eat without getting food on their faces is risible, though I would certainly avoid eating in any of the establishments that Serendipity22 frequents. Like BlueBelle I find the title of this thread quite insulting.

I can only say that person I find them disgusting, whether thats a strong word for then or not, that is how I personally find them. Where have I been to find them the latest trend? Maybe I am a bit late in stating the 'latest trend' because as you say, they have been going a while, but the ones I am referring to are usually accompanied by lack of hair on top and resemble ZZ Top ... ughhhhh.....
Just my personal dislike, certainly no harm intended. Sorry if I have caused annoyance x..

I love a man with a beard. The husband is currently sporting the Col Sanders look.
Surely life's too short to take offence at the OP's opinion. We're all entitled to our viewpoints.

Yes, we’re all entitled to our opinions hence some of our replies to the OP.

Orlin and all four of my sons have a well kept beard. I love them all. I see people with spinach between their teeth more often than I see food in a beard and I’ve only noted the spinach once.
Agree with Monica about the scratchy faces of shaven men, not for me.
The only one on tv I don’t much like with a beard is Faisal Islam. We refer to him as fancymouth, if auto correct had done its job properly you’d get my drift.
My nephews have them. They keep them neat and they look great. My husband grew one for the first time at the start of the pandemic. It is grey, short and neat and it suits him.
When I was younger I hated a beard and cried when my husband grew one. However, now I'm a grown up, I live and let live.
My DH grew a goatee when the Fire Service decreed beards were banned from a certain date but you could have a moustache or goatee. The whole station grew a beard in protest before the cut-off date. I liked it so much that when the cut-off date arrived, he made it into a goatee. He shaved it once and I asked him to grow it back.
I find kissing a man with stubble (if memory serves me correctly
) makes my face sore but a beard softens so it is no problem.
To see some of the harsh reasons people think men grow beards is quite puzzling. To me it is a life choice like long hair or short hair or shaving it all off. Nobody would think women are hiding shortcomings with a hairstyle!
Serendippity of course you are allowed an opinion but your title wasn’t an opinion it was written as a fact
Beards …disgusting
Had the title been ‘I find beards disgusting’ I wouldn’t have bothered writing because that’s just your opinion which is every bit as valid as mine

I see "having a different viewpoint" as different to "taking offence"..... but that's just my viewpoint.
My DH has had a beard for many years and it is immaculate, he showers daily and never has food in it. If he hadn't been a vet he would probably have gone into the Navy where beards are totally acceptable.
I don’t mind them so long as they are not mucky or unkempt. I prefer clean shaven men, though. My brother in law has one and I don’t like it on him but we only see him about every 20 years or so so it doesn’t matter !
It's not written as a fact fact it's an expression of her feelings.
There is a difference between a fact fact that has evidence to support a claim, and a subjective feeling or even a subjective belief.
Did Serendipity people claim people who disagree with her are wrong? No, she did not.
What is a fact fact? Is it different to a fact!
Ooh, I love a man with a neatly trimmed beard....
There seems to be a lot of a certain type of beard at the moment. Tanned faces, teeth you can see from the moon and a trimmed beard.
I can take them or leave them .
love a man with a stubble or beard my Dh has one , can’t stand the clean shaven look, sign of a man! Very sexy, agree with redhead
I always think men with beards are trying to hide some ugly feature, or have an insecure personality.
So sad. That's the sort of thing women say about other women who wear more make-up than they do.
