Written in 'honour' of our ex sil - commonly know as the ar****le.

I don’t like to see criticism of what a much loved lady wrote, which has been enjoyed by many, on the anniversary of her death.

Callistemon21 Fri 19-Aug-22 14:45:33

StarDreamer perhaps Cursing the Gammon might be more to your liking?

Easily done though FannyCornforth, if you're not 'up' on GN history.

If you don’t ‘get’ something, it’s best to stay schtum, rather than jump in and insult the op.

Why Fanny?

It has been published.

Therefore it is A Matter of Public Interest.

Therefore the OP has opened the door for public comment on what the OP has chosen to publish.

Oh really? Interesting to hear you say that.

Oh Dear! sad
So sad to read this thread which was meant as a humorous reminder of a much loved Gransnetter.
I know whatever I say someone will take exception to it so I will leave it at that.
RIP Phoenix

StarDreamer Fri 19-Aug-22 16:33:07

But the opening post did not say so.

There was no context other than what was in the post.

How was anyone expected to know the context?

AGAA4 Fri 19-Aug-22 16:43:17

RIP Phoenix. Sadly missed by many.

kittylester Fri 19-Aug-22 16:45:56

People who read the thread about remembering a much loved poster who only died a year ago having been hounded off gn when she was terminally ill.

Yes, that was shocking.

Can feel you smiling phoenix ?

Grannybags Fri 19-Aug-22 17:08:27

For once I'm part of the 'clique' and know what people are talking about!!

Thanks for posting The Curse again

This thread sums up everything that has changed/gone wrong with GN

Smileless2012 Fri 19-Aug-22 17:11:05

Thank you kittylester. I hope she is smiling Bridie smile.

Smileless2012 Fri 19-Aug-22 17:15:30

TBF if you never 'knew' Pheonix I can understand why there would be some confusion.

nadateturbe Fri 19-Aug-22 17:18:35

Thank you Shirley48.
I remember Phoenix, but I didn't know about the poem.

They only had to ask nicely

Lucca Fri 19-Aug-22 17:20:43

Exactly. Too
Much hounding people off

Missie22 Fri 19-Aug-22 17:26:08

I do remember the lady in question. BUT I dont feel a need to know everything that is posted on here, good, bad or indifferent.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 19-Aug-22 17:35:31

Meaning?

I belong to other chat sites. Some I haven’t been on very long.
It’s obvious from some of the threads that these people have known each other a long time and have a history together.
I wouldn’t dream of interrupting their conversation.

Missie22 Fri 19-Aug-22 17:39:24

The poem was posted in a light hearted way .......I accept that we all have a different sense of humour. Not all posts have to be serious surely. Thats the point of a forum, we all have views if you dont understand what the comment is all about ask nicely or keep quiet.........easy eh?

Well, my advice to myself is to ignore posts that don't interest me and then there's no need to comment.

Callistemon21 Fri 19-Aug-22 17:40:51

X post

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 19-Aug-22 17:42:10

Maybe others should follow the same advice, Calli. And show some respect for the departed.

Delila Fri 19-Aug-22 17:42:26

The OP was ok, if confusing, it’s the response by those in the know to those not in the know that’s unnecessarily exclusive. People were just asking for clarification - what’s wrong with that?

toscalily Fri 19-Aug-22 17:49:38

Unfortunately some people even when given an explanation do not accept the answer and still persist. Sometimes it is wise to retire gracefully rather than cause more upset.
