Well thank goodness this new PM debacle is over.. just have to see if what is promised is delivered and hope we all get the support we need?

Annaram1 Mon 05-Sept-22 13:03:20

Let's see how she gets on after a few months.

Oldbat1 Mon 05-Sept-22 13:04:08

Thank god I’m a Scot! I can distance myself from the disaster. We need a huge shake up in the way politicians are elected.

Smileless2012 Mon 05-Sept-22 13:04:15

Even by their current standards, it makes no sense.

LadyGracie Mon 05-Sept-22 13:04:47

I despair!

DaisyAnne Mon 05-Sept-22 13:05:31

As expected. A Conservative won.

Fleurpepper Mon 05-Sept-22 13:06:45

The puppet of the ERG, who will fill her Cabinet with the ERG.

Ok so apparently UK ends at Carlisle according to Liz ? Might need a passport to visit Balmoral in that case

What did she say?

(Is Truss a secret supporter of Scottish independence?)

Beckett Mon 05-Sept-22 13:11:54

Let's face it - no matter who was elected you would all be saying exactly the same thing - newsflash this was an election for a leader of the Conservative party - did you expect Sir Kneels a lot to be elected (you know the one who doesn't know what a woman is!). Perhaps you would prefer the PM to be elected by a Presidential style election - where the candidate with the most money wins

Just thinking how fortunate we are living in a 'democracy'. Just imagine living in a country in which the over-whelming majority have no say who is their Premier Minister, who is their Head of State and who has all the control and rights in the second chamber!!!!!

The voting members of the Conservative party don't seem to be very good at it.
I cant understand why they would choose someone who was not the favourite of the M.P.s

Why did Tory Party Members vote for Causasian Liz Truss.

Actually the majority voted for a Conservative government that IS democracy.

Not in my country they didn't!

Fleurpepper Mon 05-Sept-22 13:22:08

oh no they didn't!

Don't be silly. Who has said any such thing?

Gawd help us !!!

Can't think of a better way of putting it. Thank you Fleurpepper!

Casdon Mon 05-Sept-22 13:44:57

The only consolation is that it won’t take her long to ? ? it up.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 05-Sept-22 13:46:14

Liz Truss was not my choice, I shall reserve any judgement until such time as the announcement regarding the energy crisis is made along with what she intends to do regarding inflation etc.

Curlywhirly Mon 05-Sept-22 13:49:35

As a Labour supporter, I can't wait for PMQT - I almost feel sorry for her ?

Zonne Mon 05-Sept-22 13:51:00

I retract part of my earlier post. Not even the majority of party members voted for her.

And to those sniping about how it’s the same for all parties: I know that. Just because everyone does something, it doesn’t stop it being a flawed process.

And ‘Kiev’? And awkward pause for the applause.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 05-Sept-22 14:22:01

I do not want Liz Truss to fail, neither would I want Mr. Starmer to fail if he wins the next GE, I didn’t want Mr. Johnson to fail but he let himself and the Country down.

To wish failure on a PM goes hand in hand with wishing failure on the U.K. as the two go hand-in-hand.

I expect the PM to do what is in the best interests of the U.K. whatever the colour of their rosette.

So, if my maths is right, c98,300 people have just chosen the leader of 67 million of us.

Seems fair.

81,326 I think

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 05-Sept-22 14:26:33

Well said GG

FarNorth Mon 05-Sept-22 14:26:34

Thanks Daddima.

I think she's wrong about that grin

nanaK54 Mon 05-Sept-22 14:27:06

My reaction was 'shoot me now'!
