Apart from death , what are your worries for your Grandchildren?

Franbern Sat 22-Oct-22 08:24:46

The current Government!!!!

I have hopes and dreams for my Grandchildren.

They are the same I had for my children, I want them to be healthy, live their best life, find a job they enjoy and a person they love who loves them in return.

Getting beaten up by teenage gangs. At the moment he is picked up by parents but even some adults have been attacked walking up the road where they live.

For the little ones I want them to continue to being healthy have a good education and be happy within their family always.

For the older grown up ones to enjoy the life they have and enjoy the work they do and prosper with their chosen careers most of all for them to be happy with their families.

The environment, the state of our planet. Huge weather changes will make some places uninhabitable.
Wars, especially in Europe. Will Russia ever become a friendly country?

Fleurpepper Sat 22-Oct-22 10:39:43

climate change.

Getting beaten up and filmed etc by feral gangs and the possibility that the UK will become an Islamic country - that worries me a lot.

Kate1949 Sat 22-Oct-22 10:52:27

Being attacked. She drives a fair way to work each day on the motorway. I worry about that.

Witzend Sat 22-Oct-22 10:54:34

I just hope they’ll be healthy and happy. I try not to worry about Bigger Issues, like global warming, or the possibility of a parent dying far too young - admittedly a black cloud at the moment, since a friend of a dd, only 6 months older, has been given only a couple of years max to live - bastard bloody cancer. ?

If I do get depressed about the state of the nation/the world, I try to think of my parents, who lived through such dark and scary WW2 years, and emerged to have pretty good lives afterwards.

AmberSpyglass Sat 22-Oct-22 11:43:05

tickingbird What do you mean by the UK becoming an Islamic country? Is that likely?

pascal30 Sat 22-Oct-22 11:47:13

civil unrest.

nanaK54 Sat 22-Oct-22 11:48:44

Why do you ask bb2013

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 22-Oct-22 13:39:55

I worry about their safety, which I never gave a second thought to with my own children.
I worry that Climate Change will force them to live differently as we certainly aren’t moving fast enough to avert a disaster.

Looking back we seem to have had carefree upbringings, but I’m sure our parents worried about our futures too, just that the News wasn't on 24/7 and we just didn’t hear of World Wide problems on a day to day basis, which my GCs find very troubling. As they mature I’m sure they will realise that there are some things that you really can’t do anything about.

One of my GDs, now in her mid teens, has MH problems. I hope they get sorted so she can live a happy life.

My oldest DGC have more initiative than I had at their age. Whatever stumbling blocks they encounter, I believe that they have the character and education to overcome them. Theirs is the generation who will have to try to undo the damage ours has done to the planet and it's an onerous responsibility but I believe that they and their contemporaries are aware of it.

Climate change

GrannyGravy13 Sat 22-Oct-22 15:16:16

Yes quite possibly and I do worry for my grandchildren.

Blondiescot Sat 22-Oct-22 16:08:09

Of all the things I might worry about for my grandson, that would NOT be one of them. Wouldn't even have crossed my mind.

paddyann54 Sat 22-Oct-22 16:49:06

I only worry about the here and now no point in worrying about the future I have no control of. 3 of my GC have been helping to care for their sick mum for several years ,,I worry that its too much responsibility for them but we live too far to be there every day .I'm concerned it has affected the girls mental health as they panicked about bringing Covid home and what it might do to mum.
I dont really worry about the others they are very capable and the wee one is just starting nursery ...I might worry about the staff as wee madam thinks she's the boss .lol

I do hear from most of them most days ,and see at least two of them weekly and 3 for weekends .They msg me with queries and to share music with me and anything else they think I'll appreciate ,silly cat pictures ect .

glammagran Sat 22-Oct-22 22:59:37

Nuclear war

glammagran Sat 22-Oct-22 23:05:28

tickingbird I’m inclined to agree.

welbeck Sat 22-Oct-22 23:29:16

seriously ?
i just cannot understand that.
you think it's quite likely, why ?

FarNorth Sat 22-Oct-22 23:57:19

Ruination of the climate and planet.

Getting caught up in trans ideology and/or DGDs having to pretend that some male people are girls and women.
