Apart from death , what are your worries for your Grandchildren?

I worry that we are becoming too urban and we have lost our connection to the earth. The population of the earth when I was born was 3 billion, now it is over 7 billion, mostly urban in 1st world countries.

How many people can be sustained, and if something dramatic were to happen, new generations do not have the skills to farm, preserve food, fix or build things.

I was wondering how long it would take you to get around to throwing Islamophobe into the mix. So predictable. This from someone who considers this government a totalitarian regime. You’re a parody woman!

You think the UK is suffering Sharia law. And I'm the problem?

Get a grip.

Prentice Tue 25-Oct-22 19:53:58

Am not sure what you mean by suffering Gagjo do you mean allowing?
We do allow Sharia courts, there are about 85 in the UK, so I have read.
They mainly deal with divorce and disputes within the Muslim communities.

A response to this, from tickingbird, Prentice.

I don’t want my young grandchildren to live in an Islamic country and, in spite of your politically correct denials, nor do you. We already have Sharia law, calls to prayer and segregation of sexes in the UK. Don’t try and tell me I’m offensive and that applies to you too Franbern.

Seems to be under the impression we're overrun by Muslims, out numbered by them and will all be required to follow Sharia law at some point. Which is ludicrous and doesn't bear any relation to the life of the average Brit.

My hopes for the future are a cure for cancer. My brother is so very ill at this present time.

Fleurpepper Tue 25-Oct-22 21:21:03

You do realise there are many single sex schools in the UK. Most of the private, many not. Many other faiths have single sex schools and segregation. I don't like it, and would not choose it- but ...

As said, NO school should be exempt from the National Curriculum, and NO school should escape proper supervision. Not just Muslim ones.

One of my GCs suffers from a rare and deadly allergy. He will be going to Uni in 2 years, and that is a huge worry, as it will be very hard to avoid all traces of the food he is so allergic to.

Doodle Tue 25-Oct-22 21:21:16

Jimjam so sorry about your brother. I hope he can have treatment which helps.

Fleurpepper Tue 25-Oct-22 21:22:37

If anyone mentionned Jewish schools, segregated, and without supervision, not following the Curriculum- we would be accused of antisemitism.

Serendipity22 Tue 25-Oct-22 21:34:58

Heck ... modern day life full stop. Gangs, knives, drugs, illness, money worries, relationships .

the list goes on and on and on...

We all have problems and our grandchildren will also experience problems, despite us wishing they don't.
sad

Chris732day Tue 25-Oct-22 21:39:45

My worries for my grandchildren and my great grandchildren are many, but my main is the country debt that has now been landed with them.

What a future for them and that may not be the last to come.

I'm so sorry Jimjam1. Such a hard thing to be going through.

So sorry, I know exactly how you feel I went through my brother Jimmy’s journey with him and bowel cancer….. this was in 2003…

You seem incapable of understanding the written word. As so often happens on here, things get twisted in order to suit your argument. I haven’t said the UK “is suffering Sharia law”. As far as the authorities know there are 85 sharia law courts in the UK. Therefore, you need to get a grip on your facts.

For the final time I’m not anti Muslim. I know it’s difficult for you; I do understand. If you’re unsure go and live in an Islamic country - there’s plenty to choose from and the majority have shocking human rights records and YES I don’t want my young grandchildren to ever find themselves in a country increasingly dominated by Islamic practices.

Jimjam1 Wed 26-Oct-22 08:45:09

Thank you all for your kind words.

GagaJo Wed 26-Oct-22 09:15:41

I'm not engaging with you anymore tickingbird. There is too much bigotry in the world to tolerate it when it's unnecessary.

Staple response when one has run out of anything remotely credible to say.

for example, i have never personally been caught out by the off-side rule in association football, nor do i have any fear concerning its purview.

Whilst you may not be caught out by the off side rule one of your grandsons might!

Bit of an own goal there dear ???

but surely sharia courts do not affect anyone who does not choose to be bound by them.
they are akin to the court of the chief rabbi, aren't they, and traditional orthodox jewish secondary schools, and weddings etc are also segregated by sex.
they are a sub-group of society, with their own rules and customs which their adherents choose to follow.
and they can leave the sub-group if they wish.
it doesn't affect the majority of society who are not members of that sub-group.
whether muslim or jewish, or any other religion.
there are ecclesiastical courts which determine fine points of canon law, matrimonial matters etc.
i really cannot understand what the fear is about.

Thank you. This exactly. It seems always fine to attack anything to do with Islam, and yet not at all when it applies to similar practices in other faiths, like orthodox Jewish.

Now, I am NOT in favour of either. And I certainly believe schools should never be organised by such groups, and that girls and women should be protected.

Fleurpepper Wed 26-Oct-22 19:39:18

If my grandkids get beaten up in the street (please no, please) I am 100% sure it won't be from kids from Muslim gangs!

Are you aware of hell that abused Muslim women suffer if they go to a sharia court for help.
