She's opened and is fully funding a place for female victims of sexual violence. It's called Beira's place (Beira is Scottish goddess of the darkness ie winter). They'll provide whatever support and help that these women actually need. JK's great!

Transmen have female biology or else they wouldn't be trans. Simples!

Galaxy Thu 15-Dec-22 19:47:34

Except a number of them are now saying they arent men at all and that many factors including homophobia, sexism, history of sexual assault, and other trauma led them to transition.

VioletSky Thu 15-Dec-22 19:51:21

I didn't copy and paste any of my comment, I explained some basics to you guys that you can easily look up for yourselves

The X and Y are information packets just like all the other chromosomes

Also there are other variations than XX and XY

I'm right

You do not know everything and even scientists are not immune to having personal opinions. Only a very small percentage of the population is trans and the very few scientific studies done have shown inconsistencies in genes

That's the truth, like it or not

I'd love to have a real discussion about it with you all but how can I possibly? You need an open mind to possibilities

It's sad

Maybe another time when we learn more

Lathyrus Thu 15-Dec-22 19:58:08

“I’m right.”

Think that says it all.

🙄😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

VioletSky Thu 15-Dec-22 20:00:03

See what I mean?

Doodledog Thu 15-Dec-22 20:15:40

The moon is made of green cheese.

I have explained it - look it up if you don’t believe me. That’s the truth, like it or not. If only you’d open your minds you would agree. It’s sad.

I am right.

Galaxy Thu 15-Dec-22 20:22:31

You would need an open mind that you cant change sex. Again it works both ways.

VioletSky Thu 15-Dec-22 20:24:40

OK I'm wrong and so are GCSEs

No wonder we are in such a pickle lol

Galaxy Thu 15-Dec-22 20:26:10

Yes none of that says people can change sex. No wonder we are in such a pickle.

VioletSky Thu 15-Dec-22 20:32:38

Oh well, I am sure transgender people will all go away and stop exhibiting medical signs they don't fit with your view of sex if you just keep saying that

*sigh

Galaxy Thu 15-Dec-22 20:35:33

I am sure that people will be able to change sex if you just keep saying it often enough.

VioletSky Thu 15-Dec-22 20:40:04

Galaxy

I am sure that people will be able to change sex if you just keep saying it often enough.

Show me where I said that?

I said

That there are more combinations than XX and XY

And that there is more to chromosomes themselves as they contain genes

And that scientists have identifies differences in the genes of trans people

Prove me wrong

Doodledog Thu 15-Dec-22 20:54:05

GCSEs??

What have they got to do with this?

grannydarkhair Thu 15-Dec-22 20:57:11

And yet another article, in the Independent this time, which equates trans rights with Black civil rights, towards the end of this piece. But opening with arachnophobia. The writer asks “could JKR’s latest venture be the final nail in the coffin for her reputation?” I know this is all serious stuff and I know I shouldn’t but really 😂

Wyllow3 Thu 15-Dec-22 21:00:43

Thats an opinion of an article in twitter, its not the article.

Very very different, I really don't think we should rely on twitter!

www.independent.co.uk/voices/jk-rowling-trans-sexual-abuse-victims-women-b2244829.html

there is a video, but the article is behind a paywall.

Lathyrus Thu 15-Dec-22 21:01:23

There are more combinations than XX and XY. True. Ref The Focus Foundation.

They have nothing to do with being transgender.

I am right.

Galaxy Thu 15-Dec-22 21:01:44

VS I dont want to prove you right or wrong really. You believe what you want. It has no influence on me. That might be the difference actually. I dont care what you believe.

Galaxy Thu 15-Dec-22 21:03:54

Are these real articles. By adults?

grannydarkhair Thu 15-Dec-22 21:07:48

Wyllow3 If you click on what I posted, you can read the whole article, it’s not behind a paywall, and it infers exactly what Sonya Douglas says it does. Have you read the actual article?
And btw, I find nothing funny about the actual article, it’s the supposition that JKR’s reputation is at stake that I found so funny.

grannydarkhair Thu 15-Dec-22 21:10:23

Galaxy In a previous post, I mentioned how long QT and trans ideology had been getting “taught” in universities. Articles like these are the result of that teaching imo.

Wyllow3 Thu 15-Dec-22 21:10:36

I believe that the XX and YY stuff is not pertinent to the gender choices - when genuinely and heartfeltedly - and non aggressively - made. Our society needs to be kind enough and bold enough to accept difference.

This arises both from a conviction that we are all born equal; that what matters is *how we treat each other*: despite or perhaps because of having been a female victim of abuse and experienced what its like: and talking to a counsellor who has worked in the NHS for 25 years in sexual and gender counselling and known hundreds of transgender people at their most vulnerable.

Wyllow3 Thu 15-Dec-22 21:14:10

I'll read it, of course.

Galaxy Thu 15-Dec-22 21:15:41

Yes I know lots of transgender people. I am not sure what that has to do with anything. I dong think gender is kind or bold, I think its oppressive.

Galaxy Thu 15-Dec-22 21:16:05

Dont that should say grin

Doodledog Thu 15-Dec-22 21:19:58

blogs.scientificamerican.com/voices/stop-using-phony-science-to-justify-transphobia/

That is a spoof, surely?

Transpeople are real? What does that even mean?

The hormones betwixt? Is that meant to be scientific language?

Transgender humans represent the complexity and diversity that are fundamental features of life, evolution and nature itself. That is a fact. It is a pretty meaningless fact.

^The brain - where stuff gets made up' Er, I'm not sure what to say about that one.

I wonder if the author might have a vested interest? Just a thought grin. I notice that Scientific American distances itself from the views of the author, and that it is not a scientific journal in the academic sense of the word - the articles are not peer reviewed, and a quick glance at the submission guidelines shows that the contributors are likely to be inexperienced.

They have another article on the return of the clitoris. Apparently it has been lost to science for centuries. No comment.
