Quick response from St Anthony!

My theory is that St. Anthony hides things in the first place. Otherwise how could he be so successful at finding them?

You may well be right!

The other method is to buy a replacement item and the lost one appears exactly where you thought it was.

St Anthony was my Irish granny’s favourite along with “the help of God and two policemen”.

Grammy Grammy are you a born again? A local event was rather spoilt when the DIL of the chairman got up as the folk dancing he arranged began, and started ranting about it being pagan and Antichrist!

If St Anthony knows where a letter I have been hunting for days has gone, I would be very grateful for his help.

Perhaps he would prefer it if I just put things in the right place instead of piling them up and then having to hide them in a hurry when visitors come...

I am not familiar with the idea of St Anthony. It does seem a lot friendlier than the other helper I have heard of. ie sticking a needle in the back of the sofa saying "Pin the Devil"

I always ask St Anthony if i have mislaid something, and he has always been there for me. Amazing.

St Anthony never lets me down! I once lost my precious engagement ring, looked everywhere, even down the loo in case I'd dropped it in by accident. Finally, in desperation, I got the loo brush and felt right down and round the bend. Lo and behold, it was out of sight - I'd cleaned my face with tissues, picked them up from the surface, and dropped them down the loo with the ring stuck to them. Gave it a good wash! Thank you St Anthony...

Years ago when I was a nurse , we had a bank nurse on the ward one day . She was newly engaged and showed us her diamond ring . A short while later she panicked because she had lost it from her pocket where she had put it as no jewellery was allowed to be worn .
We all searched everywhere on the ward but no sign of it . An Irish nurse suggested that she ask St Anthony to help her , which she did . A short while later during a lull one nurse said to the girl , ‘look’ pointing at the floor of the nurses station, and there was the ring totally unharmed. The nurses station had been searched thoroughly including the floor so goodness knows how it was there but she was so happy to have it back .

I've never heard of St Anthony before, its a sweet and harmless belief. I'm not religious in the slightest but do live in a very old rectory and being absent minded often mislay things. I like to think that we have a friendly 'finder ghost' as lost things are always turning up.....I always thank them for their help of course.

How far back will he be prepared to go to find things? I lost a book about five years ago which had a bookmark made by my very young DGS at that time, I know it’s in my small house somewhere!☹️

I love st Anthony he never lets me down. And those who so rudely criticise us for having faith and enjoying religion should stop their harsh over the top responses, and mind their own beeswax!!

My Aunt was a great one for praying to St. Anthony. I have, too. I don't know a Catholic who hasn't relied on him sometime. No, absolutely you do not have to be Catholic. You simply must be sincere. Good results to everyone out there who will be praying to St Anthony.

I do not think so anyone can ask i always ask st Anthony I always end up finding what I am missing. Pray to st Christopher when travelling for a safe journey, padre pie for healing when anyone is sick.

I've been reading about St Anthony who predates the reformation - when we Christians were all Catholic. phew

It's sad that he is mainly known for finding missing things, including missing people, while his work amongst the poor and his life is mostly forgotten. Thanks Marydoll for pointing this out.

When I worked in the Recird Room of a very large hospital, we had thousand upon thousand of patient records filed in numerical order, so of course some sometimes got "misfiled". We had a supervisor who was very religious, and used to go home and pray to St Anthony that the missing file would turn up the next day. And do you know it did ....and if not the next day, sometime very soon after....the power of prayer and St Anthony seem to go hand in hand.

I think “Don’t put it down! Put it away” is more helpful.
