Do you remove engagement ring when doing messy work?

No, for the simple reason I never had one. We could not afford it. Never bothered since.

I never take off my wedding ring but don't wear my engagement and eternity rings while doing jobs around the house.

No engagement ring, wedding band and eternity ring on left hand, keeper ring on the right. I rarely take them off, only when I’m making something like stuffing, a hands in job. I’ve never taken rings off at night, even in my previous marriage when I had an engagement ring. I wondered why you do?

I did get an engagement ring, but only 23 years after we were married. It doesn't fit now but when I did wear it I never took it off while doing gardening, cooking etc. Occasionally I would take it off and clean it (usually by soaking in gin, which is what my mum used to do with her engagement ring!)

I now wear my mum's engagement ring and also never take it off apart from occasionally giving it a clean. I'm always so worried that I'll put it down somewhere and forget where it is!

I am another, who takes off my engagement ring, around the house. My eternity ring stays on.
It has been repaired a number of times and has a new flatter setting.
I don't want it damaged again.

I only wear my engagement ring if going ‘out out’. I’m not much of a jewellery person. I never take my wedding ring off though, nor my mother’s eternity ring which I wear on my right hand.

My wedding ring stays on my hand all the time.

My engagement ring is in its' box and has been for years. I was worried that I would lose it if I had to take it off frequently so that was the safest way.

Sometimes rings are of different gold quality. If they are worn together the harder one will wear away the softer as they rub against each other.

I had my engagement and wedding rings enlarged last year as a treat for our golden wedding. (Very expensive.) I hadn't worn them for years but am enjoying wearing them now. I take off the engagement ring when I help cook the senior citizens lunch in the village hall, also something jobs : pastry, making bread etc.

I do, mostly because the fiddly bits get full of gunk and are a patio clean…

A PAIN to clean

Oh dear I often have to remember to put on my wedding ring, let alone engagement or eternity ring.

Don’t remove any of them. I probably should because they have got looser.

I'm bad, I never remove them and confess to having lost a diamond from my engagement ring after 35 years. I still wear them all the time.

Married, never worn an engagement, wedding or eternity ring. It's enough that I know I'm married, not an indicator to others, plus I get occlusion dermatitis under rings.

I wear my wedding, engagement and eternity rings all the time along with a marcasite ring that has great sentimental value.

Never take any of my rings off . Never lost any stones . It helps having a jeweller as a husband so he can retip if need be though .

Yes engagement ring on first thing in the morning and removed for messy like gardening even though I wear gloves.

I take all my rings, except my wedding band, off when doing messy jobs around the house and garden even if I'm wearing gloves.
I also take them off when using hand cream or cosmetics.
I was advised to do it by a friend who was a jeweller and who made my engagement ring.

She told me that, over time, chemicals and debris can build up in and around the stones which dull the appearance and also could potentially damage the settings, risking the loss of the gemstones.
I do clean them from time to time by immersing them overnight in gin. It's interesting to see the gunk that comes out, most of which, I imagine is my dead skin cells!

I don’t often wear my rings when I am at home and sometimes forget to put them on when we go out. DH always remarks on it saying “ oh are we not married today ?” Seeing as he has never worn a wedding ring , I take no notice. Certainly I would take my engagement ring off for making pastry or would need cleaning afterwards.

For about 30 years I never took off my wedding ring but had to have it cut off when my hand became swollen after an accident. Nothing dreadful happened we are still married after nearly 48 years.

I am not a jewellery person either but never take my wedding ring or engagement ring off!

I never wear a ring with stones when doing housework or cooking and certainly would never make pastry with a ring on.
I remove my wedding ring at bedtime as fingers swell during the night and it can cause discomfort. I also remove my wedding ring when cleaning windows indoors, I have a lasting memory of someone I knew losing a finger after catching her ring finger on the catch and falling.
