'Queen Camilla'?

Hmmmm. I gather she's to be called Queen Camilla despite the late Queen stating that she should be Queen Consort. Albert was only the Prince Consort. Poor old Prince Philip wasnt even that. What's so special about Camilla? I was warming to her but I'm not so sure now. They're taking a risk with the public support.

Queen Camilla is fine, also the talk of tampons was only found out by phone hacking.
The conversation was private and engaged in by two people who clearly love each other. I know I am not perfect, and I have said things privately in a phone call I would not want others to hear.

Who knows Anniebach?

Indeed. So much speculation surrounds this whole sorry saga that it's impossible to know.

Is it on record - did Charles actually say that he resented Diana's popularity with the public? Or was it assumed?

You mean James Gilbey? He dated Diana before Charles

You may well be right, Annie. One does tend to lose track of the men Diana threw herself at adulterously while married to the heir to the throne. You do have to wonder why they all dropped her soon after.

.............................................

he said in a speech that he needed two wives as the public only wanted 'his wife' and not him when on walk about.
each side calling for Diana and not wanting him.

In the words of Rhett Butler in the closing scene of "Gone with the Wind" : "Frankly my dear...."

I would have thrown myself at Boris Johnson if I had been in Diana's situation. Why didnt she just do as she was told like a good little girl. Either adultery is wrong or it isnt. If it is then Charles and diana both behaved poorly.

lemsip JFK said similar about his wife - ‘I am the man who
accompanied Jacqueline Kennedy to Paris and I have enjoyed it’

Joke,get it ?

Aveline I don’t mind what Camilla is called, isn’t every wife of a king called a queen?
Who knows what the great British public think, but I would bet a tenner that not many are bothered by it.

I bet JFK enjoyed Paris how many women did he have?
At Least as far as we know Charlies has only had Camilla. They were made for each other or maybe deserve each other.

Anniebach Thu 06-Apr-23 17:56:21

We know Diana had many more than one

IrishDancing Thu 06-Apr-23 17:56:51

You miss the point the point Dickens “LOL”!

NanKate Thu 06-Apr-23 18:56:24

Charles should never have been forced into marrying Diana.

Camilla is great and I would like to meet her and have a meal with her and others. I am sure she would be great company and we would have a good laugh.

She makes King Charles laugh and smile. You often see them giggling.

Hermother Thu 06-Apr-23 19:01:42

Camilla seems like a good egg, she does a great deal for her chosen charities, genuinely seems to enjoy meeting people and she seems to be able to handle Charlie's occasional tantrums with aplomb. I like her.

buffyfly9 Thu 06-Apr-23 19:30:53

Anniebach, regarding your comment that I possibly was turned on by imagining Charles as a Tampax says a lot more about you than me I suggest!

Me too! Bread and circuses comes to mind.

Nicegranny

I cannot forgive her or forget that Camilla was Princess Diana’s tormentor.
She’s no queen, she’s just the mistress that got very lucky.

Get over yourself! Camilla is probably the most dignified member of the RF. perhaps you can advise her from the perfect life experience

JRTW2 Fri 07-Apr-23 11:25:07

Agree 100%

Mark the day in your calendars - I agree with Anniebach!

Charles did not say he wanted to be Camilla's tampon. Gird your loins before you read the rest of this ....

He said he wanted to live inside her trousers but God Forbid, he'd probably end up being flushed away like a .... well you get the gist.

These people have decided they don’t like her and won’t let the facts get in the way of a good reason to diss her. I liked Diana but she was very immature and not suited to the role. Charles should have been allowed to marry Camilla in the beginning

TBH, it all started to go downhill when royals started marrying outside of other royal circles Born royals grow up understanding the role

CazB Fri 07-Apr-23 11:42:55

I totally agree with you Nicegranny. Camilla may be supporting Charles well now, but I can't forget her treatment of Diana. I can't think of her as The Queen.

Anniebach Fri 07-Apr-23 11:45:32

Diana’s treatment of other women is acceptable?

GagaJo Fri 07-Apr-23 11:57:53

Agree with CazB and Nicegranny. I'm very 'whatever' about Diana, but Camilla was conniving. Obviously, the blame lay 99% with Charles. He was the one married to D. But women who stab other women in the back are not to be trusted either.

Not a queen.

maturefloosy Fri 07-Apr-23 11:58:13

What a lot of ancient bitterness! - They are like any other family and have their problems - - Move on and embrace the future - the past is gone!
I think Camilla is good for Charles and has conducted herself well - as the other woman in the past - she never uttered a word about her relationship and could have done - it happens in lots of families and the kids learn to accept the new partner .

Galaxy Fri 07-Apr-23 11:59:05

If it's an affair they often dont I am afraid.

Irismarle Fri 07-Apr-23 11:59:15

When Queen Elizabeth II died, a lot of us liked the tribute from Emmanuel Macron on behalf of the French. He said, ‘To you she was ‘Our Queen’, but to us she was ‘The Queen’. He was right to an extent, but to most Brits, when you say ‘The Queen’ you automatically think of the late Queen Elizabeth. Given Camilla’s age I don’t think there is time for us to get over that. I’m happy for her to be called ‘Queen Camilla’ or Queen Consort but not ‘The Queen’.

Spot on. But there are also many who view Diana as some kind of saint who couldn't put a foot wrong.
