'Queen Camilla'?

Hmmmm. I gather she's to be called Queen Camilla despite the late Queen stating that she should be Queen Consort. Albert was only the Prince Consort. Poor old Prince Philip wasnt even that. What's so special about Camilla? I was warming to her but I'm not so sure now. They're taking a risk with the public support.

Diana’s treatment of other women is acceptable?

No but 2 wrongs don't make a right. Diana was obviously a damaged person and her behaviour was probably unsettling for anybody who was used to a different sort of behaviour. I would suspect that her early years and loss of her mother would have given her mental health issues she would have needed a lot of help to overcome. Using her to produce an heir and spare would have just damaged her more. In any other walk of life we'd be horrified but because it is Royalty it appears to be ok.

I also think Charles and Camilla's private conversations should have stayed private so whilst I find the whole think a bit stomach churning I wouldn't hold that against them. Quite honestly, if the conversation had been between 2 people I adored, I'd feel the same ugh factor. blush

"She’s no queen, she’s just the mistress that got very lucky."

That made me laugh out loud! grin Funniest thing I've read in a long time! grin

I have long held the opinion that Diana was a convenience and there only to provide an heir - I have heard some describe her as a "Royal incubator". I guess we will never know the truth surrounding her untimely death but the worldwide outpouring of grief spoke volumes, there's no denying that.

I don't even consider Charles to have been an attractive man at all, certainly didn't make me swoon in his youth, in fact I always thought of him as a bit of a sop. Quite what Camilla or Diana saw in him is a mystery to me too.

Camilla is certainly not my cup of tea although I do agree with some of King Charles opinions on the environment etc

I don't care about the intimacies. Very 'whatever' about them. We all talk tosh in our relationships. But to an extent, Diana was groomed. And Charles and Camilla were part of that.

It was inevitable that at least one of her children would hold that against them. And the country. After all, we watched a lot of it happen.

As I said before though, most of the blame lies with Charles. He's the one that should have kept her in the background. If he didn't push her forward, this discord wouldn't be occurring. Very reminiscent of Edward and Wallis. He was the weak spoiled one but she got all the blame.

Well once they start digging into how they all got to be there in the first place, with a bit of luck, they will all be gone! I just wondered when the investigations would start on the ‘slavery’ issue!

Charles was not involved with Camilla when he became involved with Diana.

Diana wanted to give her father the prize her sister failed to give him. She was not ‘shy Di’,

Personally I'm in favour of a republic as Royalty has no place in 2023.
But Charles took an innocent naive girl and married her solely for the purpose of producing heirs. A breeding machine
And all the time he was seeing Camilla a married woman.
I think they are both disgusting people and neither are fit to rule our country, if we really need a king and queen anyway.
I know many people have affairs but not many take a wife just to breed. He even told Diana he didn't love her the day before the wedding. And Camilla didn't walk away when he married. She's nothing but a married man's tart.

Moggycuddler Fri 07-Apr-23 12:38:54

Who cares really? They are all just ultra-priveleged twits.

Anniebach Fri 07-Apr-23 12:39:10

Why didn’t the tabloids print of the alleged relationship between Charles and Camilla ?

Still no mention here of Dale Tryon yet the tabloids had much to say

I agree with yo, well said

Is a tart worse than a trollop?

Asking for a friend.

Galaxy Fri 07-Apr-23 12:46:09

When I wore my wedding dress a colleague said, that's very you galaxy, stylish with just a hint of trollop.

In the greater scheme of things, what difference does it make. They are all very privileged people and the younger generation are really not interested in them. It seems that older people are the ones who care. There are a lot of out of date customs that they should get rid of. Camilla seems a lot more humble and I think she should be respected for that.

I don’t think it’s true that the younger generation isn’t interested, there are more Royal threads on Mumsnet than there are on here, obsessing about every detail - they even have a running clothes they wear thread every day.

Tattooedfidelma Fri 07-Apr-23 12:52:49

I’m stunned at how nasty this thread has got. This is why I rarely take part. I’m not a fan of the royals but Charles and Camilla seem like nice people who are doing their best. I know many people who have affairs and remarry after divorce and they aren’t condemned for years afterwards.

LadyHonoriaDedlock Fri 07-Apr-23 12:54:29

Has anybody mentioned yet how vile Diana was to ber stepmother, Raine Spencer?

After their father died Raine was told by Charles Spencer, who is a nasty piece of work in his own right, told Raine to get out of the family pile. Diana stood and watched her packing her belongings into suitcases. Then she told Raine that the suitcases weren't hers and she wasn't having them. She emptied the suitcases on the floor and then she and Charles stuffed Raine's clothes and other belongings into bin bags and threw them down the stairs.

"Poor, innocent, shy Diana" was as much an act as bumbling, dishevelled, Boris Johnson and just as calculated to deceive.

Anniebach Fri 07-Apr-23 12:57:04

Diana pushed Raine down the stairs

Galaxy Fri 07-Apr-23 12:57:11

The royalists tend to talk about them in a way I wouldnt talk about my worst enemy.

I don't think anyone is condemning them for being married. or even for her being Queen Consort.

They set the rules, after all. No divorcees. So if they make the rules, they should stick to them.

No one begrudges their marriage.

Damaged by the late Queen and Prince of Edinburgh?

I agree. The royalists are supposed to like royalty aren't they?
Why be so vile, especially about a woman who died young over twenty years ago.

Nannashirlz Fri 07-Apr-23 13:26:27

Really wish ppl would do our history on kings and queens one she has earned her place by marrying our king and glad to see you were all regular at having a brew and chat with our late queen for you all to know what she wanted. I don’t have a problem with Camille being our queen.

Oh I think some on here do. Very much so.

Mollygo Fri 07-Apr-23 13:32:47

When I first got married, by convention, I was supposed to be known as Mrs Molly Go, because my MIL was the real Mrs Go.
My MIL told me I was Mrs Go as soon as I married her son, and not to be silly!

Nope, I just don't see she is the sort of person I want to see as Queen. Nor Charles really. I have always been a royalist but I am having a definite rethink.
