Following a discussion about a GNers friend who was off her food I wonder what you favourite poorly food was?
A few days ago I was felled by the onset of the worst sore throat I have ever had. My GP diagnosed a strep throat infection. For days even if I had wanted to eat I couldn't as my throat was just too sore. Even drinking water, which I did out of necessity was excruciating. ( I wondered if the accompanying headaches were part of the illness or caffeine withdrawal). Today I am feeling slightly more human so I have just reverted to my favourite childhood " poorly food". Two softly boiled eggs beaten up in a cup with butter and salt. It does have to be in a cup. I tried it in a bowl once and it just wasn't the same. It did take its toll on my throat, but I did enjoy it.
What is your favourite , go to, poorly food?

Hot toast with butter, or scrambled / poached egg on toast, swede and potato mash, cheese and tomato sandwich. All of the above served with a nice cup of tea

Mashed potato made into a volcano with a bit of Bisto gravy.

Mashed potato. Never ever eat it even I'm well but it's such a comfort when feeling poorly

Marmite on toast!

I feel for you with the throat problems.last year I had a terrible bout of tonsillitis with a large ulcer on the tonsil, even water came gushing out. On that occasion I found small sips of sparkling water helped as it also cleared some of the guns which normal swallowing deals with. My voice also disappeared!

My earliest memory is of my mum giving me chicken soup after a nasty bout of measles. Thank goodness for vaccinations now!

Caramme

Birds custard, made with half evaporated milk, half semi-skimmed. If it’s got thinly sliced bananas in it, even better.

Ooh- I’ve got a sore throat and I just bought some birds custard ( it’s hard to find here ). Deffo going to try this !

Hot Ribena for a cold or chest infection. Sadly not quite the same now as even the regular one has sweetener in it.

Tinydancer re Ribena, Is it my imagination or did it used to be more of a syrup?🤔
