Just that really. I hope all goes well and baby Brooksbank arrives safely.

I did think it was meant as actually you were right, mistakes like that can cause rumours to spread. I certainly wasn't trying to cause offense and am astonished that any was taken.🤔

seemed obvious to me that it was a humourous comment.

Yep!

Sounded rather reprimanding to me. But quite frankly no harm done so who cares about something so trivial. Hardly worth making it into an issue.

No news?
I'm beginning to feel exhausted on her behalf now.

Someone somewhere out there on the internet mentioned that she was having a planned C-section because of her back. She had steel rods put in her back for scoliosis when a child and has lived with them ever since. Not sure if the first birth was a C-section though. Quite honestly, I wasn't interested enough to delve any deeper. Either way, it sounds quite a gruelling experience and I wish her all the best and await news of a baby.

I stick by my feeling that the initial report was incorrect. It's been 3 days now. Simply wouldn't happen to someone in her position.

FannyCornforth Mon 05-Jun-23 09:12:28

It does seem a bit odd Calipso.
All the reports of her being in labour come from one source only - Phil Dampier

I have a feeling that the OP was deliberately provocative!

Esmay Mon 05-Jun-23 10:24:33

I wonder if it wasn't fake news .

Three days is a long time though my DIL had five days of on and off labour and is damaged .

I was wondering if , as she has a history of back problems if that was the reason why she's in hospital for a lengthy period without a baby being delivered .

I asked my friend , who is an experienced tutor midwife and she thinks that it's either fake news , a back problem or a condition like pre-eclampsia - either way a c - section would have been performed .

So it's probably fake news .

She looked as though she was about to give birth at any minute in a photo that was taken about a week ago so I bet she’s already had it and is back home laughing at the speculation.

Yep! She had a boy, Ernest, last week.

Princess Eugenie gives birth to baby boy
Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank was born on May 30 and takes one of his middle names from the Duchess of York's father, Ronald

Ha! well blow me over. Good for them! But I was right about the fake news 🤪

Oh, brilliant - that’s made my day. (Not that a Royal had a baby, but that this thread was fake news!). Excellent.

Welcome baby Ernest .
Not keen on the name .
Strangely , I thought of the name just before I read it !

Patsy70 Mon 05-Jun-23 18:43:50

Ernest? Not one I would have chosen! Well, it appears that they kept that quiet. Hope mother & baby are well.

Grandma70s Mon 05-Jun-23 18:54:05

One of his middle names is Ronnie, which is a diminutive of Ronald. Why on earth not just use Ronald? This is a trend I’ve noticed recently. Alfie, Ollie, Charlie and so on as given names.

Ernest to me is an old man’s name, but I suppose they are too young to be familiar with it.

lemsip Mon 05-Jun-23 20:09:48

ernest and august who is called augie so it will be ernie

Grammaretto Mon 05-Jun-23 20:14:02

It's very fashionable at the moment. I know of at least 3 Ernies. One is aged 15 so been popular a while.
Ronnie reminds me of the Kray bros along with Reggie.

Grandma70s Mon 05-Jun-23 20:41:17

I haven’t come across any Ernies, either among my own acquaintances or in the Daily Telegraph Births column, which I follow online - the only place outside my own circles where I can find what people are calling their children.

lemsip Mon 05-Jun-23 20:43:41

ronald is after sarah ferguson's father ronald .

Rosie51 Mon 05-Jun-23 20:47:20

Nice photos of the baby and one has big brother in it too. I'm not keen on the name but as long as they like it, that's all that matters.

Iam64 Mon 05-Jun-23 20:47:59

I’m always entertained by critical comments about babies names. The old trad names are making a comeback, being reclaimed by a generation. I rather like the full name, Ernest, Charles, Archibald etc rather than the shortened forms but then I’m an old grannie 😉

Forsythia Mon 05-Jun-23 21:05:36

Ernest is a name in our family too, my grandfather was an Ernie (Ernest) and now my sisters grandson is an Ernie. Lots of them about apparently 5 and under.

I like the full names too, generally, but not always and I do prefer Archie to Archibald.
Presumably the elderly Archies I know/knew are Archibalds.

Ernest is preferable to the shortened version, Ernie, imo.
I can't stop thinking of the song. 🥛
