I usually get between £50 and £150 - but this month it is £350!!!!! - hooray!

Anyone else had any luck?

£200 for me £100 for OH. I worked out that my wins this year work out at 3.6%. I am not a gambler but enjoy this little safe gamble.

Nothing for me 😥 my last win was 8yrs ago and DH 22yrs since he won it was just after he took early retirement.

Nothing for me this month, I usually average six to eight hundred pounds a year.

NannyJan53 it’s difficult to be certain about the minimum amount needed as of course the chance of ‘winning’ is entirely random but as a rough guess I would say about £ 10,000 should get a fairly regular return during the year.

Interestingly there have been a few one million pound wins over the years for folk with just a few hundred pounds invested!
How lucky they must have felt!

Now as the rise in interest rates means we can get about 6% on our savings in normal savings accounts, some people don’t like the uncertainty of Premium Bonds, but they are a bit of fun each month!

annsixty Thu 03-Aug-23 09:44:56

I think you need much more than £10,000 invested to get a regular return however small.
You would be very lucky to get more than £25 a few times a year but I may be wrong, it is luck after all.

Another thing I like about PB is that’s the winnings are tax free.
At the moment we can earn £1,000 per year tax free interest on our savings which sounds a lot but really isn’t especially now interest rates have risen.

The Mail is currently running a campaign to try to persuade the government to raise it to £2,000.

There was a member of GN who a few years ago told us that as well as her own maximum holding (£50,000) she had also invested the maximum in the name of 4 other members of her family.
I don’t recall her ever saying how much she won.
I don’t know if she still posts.

Thank you JenniferEccles I suspected £10,000 would be a minimum to win anything at all

BigBertha1 Thu 03-Aug-23 11:53:38

I've just started buying them again so I hope for something later in the year. I don't know how long the qualifying period is.

My oh won nothing on 10k for years. He withdrew it and reinvested 5k and has won one £25 since. To win sums of £150+ pm each month and a yearly return of £1k+ you need 40 -50k invested and even then need to be lucky. Already withdrawn some of mine to invest in a guaranteed interest bond paying 5%. The rest will be withdrawn to pay for new boiler in a couple of months.

125 for me after quiet few months

dogsmother Thu 03-Aug-23 12:37:47

Nil again……not maxed but do have plenty. Ready to reinvest elsewhere, they are not being kind.

icanhandthemback Thu 03-Aug-23 12:47:43

I got £175 this month as did my husband. I don't have as many as him so I was quite impressed. Although investing in other forms of savings might get a guaranteed return, so far, I have managed to get a decent return so I am not going to move my money yet.

lexigran Thu 03-Aug-23 12:52:21

We got £175 between us, had £750 so far this year smile

ShepherdC Thu 03-Aug-23 12:57:43

Had 200 worth of bonds for 15 years and not won anything.

Stillstanding Thu 03-Aug-23 13:19:02

Got £200 this month. I have never won £100 once before and now I get 2 £100 wins on the same month. My winnings are automatically reinvested but I also spend an equal amount on "me-treats".

gillyjp Thu 03-Aug-23 13:29:43

Same here as well smile

hazelnuts Thu 03-Aug-23 13:31:36

Nothing this month
My friend won £1,000 2 months ago
If you find old bonds best to cash them in and buy new ones more chance of winning

Maria59 Thu 03-Aug-23 13:53:18

£25 this month every win is welcome

inishowen Thu 03-Aug-23 13:56:55

We got £300. A very good month.

NoraBone Thu 03-Aug-23 14:19:42

Nothing this month. sad

I've had £1,525 from Jan to July this year though, on max funds in PB, properly thrilled with that.
