Angela Rayner as Deputy Prime Minister God help us šŸ™

What do you think?

foxie48 Mon 21-Aug-23 08:58:37

We cannot get any worse than a bunch of scum, homophobic, racist, misogynistic, absolute vile … banana republic, vile, nasty, Etonian … piece of scum,ā€ she said at the event, before adding that she had ā€œheld back a littleā€

She's not a hypocrite, she stood by her comments and there's lots who would agree with her sentiments. I wish she'd not said "scum" as she'd already made her point. She's on the left of the LP and that's where she still sits and she supported Tarry during his deselection . Nothing hypocritical about that. Why you are comparing her with Hancock completely escapes me, perhaps you can explain???

Oreo Mon 21-Aug-23 08:58:48

I didn’t know that she sided with the trans lobby, if that’s true then a worry to have Raynor in an important political position.😲

maddyone Mon 21-Aug-23 09:01:16

Snobbery is pretty vile.

Yes it is. We judge others by what they do and say.

Anniebach Mon 21-Aug-23 09:03:32

All conservative MP’s are Etonian ?

maddyone Mon 21-Aug-23 09:03:50

She’s not a hypocrite, she stands by what she says….

She does, and for that reason, given what she said, I find her to be unsuitable for the role of deputy prime minister.

Maremia Mon 21-Aug-23 09:04:19

Was Raynor the one who threatened to nail journalists testicles to the floor using her own front teeth, or am I confusing with 'Never in Parliament' Dorries?

I think she's uncouth and vulgar besides being uneducated that my opinion. Just a light hearted thread that's why I put it in Chat. Actually I think Starmer would like to get rid of her (she's the Unions patsy).

If you watch the way the 'educated' politicians behave in the House, and listen to what they say, and the terminology they use - you'll see that they can also be "uncouth" and "vulgar". There are times when those educated individuals sound more like a herd of braying donkeys.

Perhaps telling immigrants to "f*ck off" (etc) is more refined when it's said by someone who isn't a Labour politician?

foxie48 Mon 21-Aug-23 09:04:40

GB News 17.08.23. Seems a pretty sensible approach to me!

Rayner said: "It's really important that, as part of the Gender Recognition Act, people that are transitioning are given support. And that's what we want to see.
ā€œWe want to see a more humane process, and I think that's where the public are, actually.""But we also want to see protections for women-only spaces, which is why the last Labour Government, in the Equalities Act, put provisions in there to make that happen."
"No woman should feel insecure or unsafe, whether it's a transgender woman or a biological woman.ā€
She said: ā€œEverybody should be able to feel safe and comfortable in those spaces.
ā€œAnd we should be able to find a way forward on that. I think
we can."

Who is the woman that gave the finger to the press?

Remind me who is uncooff and vulgaršŸ˜„šŸ˜„šŸ˜„

Wasn’t that Coffrey?
I think she’s unsuitable to be a cabinet minister too. Especially Health Minister, which she was for a short time.

Maremia Mon 21-Aug-23 09:06:40

If we are judging by what politicians say, remember 'Let the bodies pile high'? And he wasn't kidding.

maddyone Mon 21-Aug-23 09:09:01

Sorry Coffey

Posters are expressing support for vile language but disgust for education. I went through higher education as did my husband. Our three children all went to university, one of them to Oxford. I’m proud of their achievements and find the disgust expressed, especially re Oxford University to be inverted snobbery.
I’m an ex teacher. I believe in education for all whatever their background. However I am able to understand the difference between a degree and and a college education resulting in NVQs or their equivalent today.

I cannot believe how many think that she would not be an embarrassment as deputy PM. Uncouth and uneducated. Appalling.

Uneducated. Who does that actually include?

Whether your education ends at school, college, university or further, it is a life-long process. It should always contain a modification of behaviour and experience gained from understanding and hopefully experiencing other ways of thinking and living. There are some on this forum whose veracity I have doubted when they've described their education because all they seem to have obtained are systematic and predetermined facts.

Some complete their formal education believing they know everything. The wise come out of their formal education knowing they know a fair bit about their subject, a little bit about how to learn, and very little about anything else. They are the ones who decide to continue learning for the rest of their lives.

I would put Angela Rayner in the second category. Far ahead of many of those who think themselves superior to her.

I don’t want anyone not of current politicians anyway. Labour will be not much if any better than the Tories. So many acts of parliament that the majority of people don’t agree with but they are forced on us anyway by the party in power claiming a mandate. We voted somebody in but a whole package comes with it that we didn’t vote for.

maddyone Mon 21-Aug-23 09:32:44

I agree Avalon.
I don’t know what to vote at the next election. I have voted all three parties in the past but have settled, as I got older, to be more on the right. However they don’t deserve my vote this time around and neither do Labour. What to do?

westendgirl Mon 21-Aug-23 09:37:41

No one is expressing disgust for education, but rather trying to point out to the blinkered that education can and does come in different forms.I went to university in the 50's ,but think thatI have learnt a lot more just by living through the following years. My degree however does not make me a better person than the next.I do not think that anyone has the right to sneer and look down on someone because they did not have the same chances.I remember being told by a friend who was doing teaching practice in a school for children with severe learning difficulties that the staff had taken several years to teach one child how to knit . That child's success is , in my eyes a tremendous achievement , as good as success in NVQ's for others.
The sobbery on here is shaming and I can only hope this attitude is not passed on to the next generations.

westendgirl Mon 21-Aug-23 09:38:36

snobbery, sorry.

maddyone Mon 21-Aug-23 09:40:55

And the inverted snobbery here is shaming too.

nadateturbe Mon 21-Aug-23 09:41:31

At least it would mean we had a Labour government!

westendgirl Mon 21-Aug-23 09:48:52

Andre Jenkyns , an Education Minister, was the M. P. who gave a finger to the press.

Of course it does. Otherwise you would need a party for each person. I do believe some posters actually think that is what they are entitled to. Democracy doesn't work that way, communities don't work that way and countries cannot work that way.

In the end you have to chose the party travelling roughly in the direction you want the country to go in and stop thinking its all about you. It isn't. You are no more, or less, important than anyone else. Democracy is about all of us.
