Food costs...am seeing no decrease in prices...perhaps I'm not shopping economically ..
Still waiting on NHS referral appointments - too exhausted to say more

No had a quick google and it appears it’s not recommended. I have it in front of a fan on cool don’t really hold out much hope for it.

No, GG13, it isn't unreasonable and it is highly sensible to ensure that they don't get a future claim for the same thing in a few years time. It also ties you into the same insurance company or to declare it and get higher premiums. It is not a satisfactory state of affairs to be in.

My local pharmacy, where I collect my prescriptions, is open Monday to Friday, 9 to 6pm, closed for lunch for an hour every day; the pharmacist (and owner) is only present three and a half days a week, which means we are unable to collect prescriptions on the remaining day and a half. Plus it takes about five days to process regular prescriptions.

The previous owner was open six days a week, and was nearly always available; the present owner has three other pharmacies and is clearly running it as a business venture on a shoestring; shop is poorly stocked but charges top prices for everything.

Technology! And the impotent FURY that you get when you don’t understand what to do , and there’s no one to ask for help!

I have received my letter to book vaccination and OH hasn’t. Tried the help line but my patience ran out. Logged on to the NHS site and it auto fills in OH’s details and books an appt, tried to book mine and it doesn’t recognise me - just love auto websites.

Sorry about your phone, rosie1959.
Accidental damage insurance? Might work.
Modern phones are magic. But I remember how my old Nokia was fine after I dropped it in the sea grin

Thank you Romola the phone is under contract and registered under our business so will not be covered by our insurance cover.

Have you tried Google or YouTube?
I recently had a problem with WhatsApp on my new phone and have finally sorted it out this way.
Irritatingly I then realised it was something I'd come across years ago, but had forgotten 🙄

Lying politicians. It has got to the stage where it is just expected as a matter of course.

Youths with hoods up & dark scarves around their faces deliberately riding dangerously in the town centre on those stupid scooters nearly knocking people and dogs over! They just couldn’t care less about anyone’s safety.. even their own!!

Albertina, hope you are soon feeling better after contracting covid. I’m with you on this, just getting over it. Took me at least 2 weeks to feel any better, felt awful and exhausted.

My rant is about car parks where you can only pay by credit card. If your car, credit card not registered you have to go through the entire process. Just an unnecessary nightmare. Groan

A while ago one of them was behind me when I was getting cash out of an ATM. I had Mr Dog with me, but would have felt nervous if I'd been on my own.

A local Tory council near me has gone bust. I expect that’s the fault of the last Labour government too nicenanny?

Bea65 Sun 10-Sept-23 12:07:46

chickkygran totally Annoying...had such a panic when the local NCP didn't recognise my details and this type of payment is excluding many of the older generation who don't use cards..feel very mad and sad that this puts restrictions on many who just want to be out leisurely or need to go shopping and there's no pay and display anymore...

People living in a street about 2 miles from us found 9 cars had been damaged overnight. All four tyres on each car slashed through the side walls. The hunt is on for CCTV but for goodness sake - why????? I’m so cross on their behalf, it’s not a wealthy area and I imagine for most the replacement cost will be difficult or impossible.

Typing a long and very interesting post ( in my opinion!) only for it to vanish when I press "create"

I type as a draft email, then copy and paste. Draft saves automatically.

Dangerous out of control dogs. I only walk mine in private fields or remote areas. I’m fed up

Wheniwasyourage, I'll join you in your detestation of the use of the present tense in historical documentaries. I think the idea is to make the past become more vivid. It grates on me.
And another rant - but this has been discussed earlier - about the increasing tendency to insist on cashless and online transactions, preferably by mobile phones. This is entirely for the benefit of the supplier, not for the customer.

I thought of a rant!
Came home from work and called in at my Co-op to buy my favourite ice cream cones (Co-op make, four to a box, choc caramel swirls cones) and the freezer was empty where they should be.Felt like having a toddler tantrum right there on the spot.

People who take a load of food from the breakfast buffet (I’m on last day of hols) and leave much of it, to be thrown away. Makes me want to slap them!
Most are not Brits, in case anybody’s wondering.

Doodledog Thu 14-Sept-23 18:14:12

I remember a buffet-style restaurant in Malaysia which charged for food left on the plate. I think there was a flat rate for the food, and you could go back for more if you wanted, but if you left any you had to pay extra.

I don’t eat breakfast but places I’ve stayed at don’t like me making myself a sandwich for later and just having a cup of tea.
