Marks &Spencer. No bags

Paper bags disintegrate if they get caught in the rain. Not at all practical for some.
I have clear memories of seeing broken jars of jam etc tumbling from paper carriers on the bus when I was little. Paper bags are not a new invention😐

Though it has to be said that many more food items were delivered to your home and it was quite “normal”. Apart from milk there was a veg van, a pop van, even I recall a laundry van. And a bread van. This in an area with butcher/baker/candlestick maker virtually on the doorstep! Good times🙂 lots of cardboard boxes in use as well.

I went along as usual with a bag ready to carry the teddy fleece hooded blanket I'd ordered and was surprised when it was handed to me in a sealed plastic bag. It is literally feather-light and possibly difficult to cram into a shopping bag. I'm almost looking forward to those chilly nights in front of the TV!

No problem with it at all, wouldn’t bother me to carry clothing, including underwear through the store. Do some people screen their washing lines?

I always have 4 roll away into a tiny bag shopping bags in my handbag, one is devoted only to clothing, so clothes do not get damaged and soiled.

Personally, this isn't a problem and I couldn't care less wheather I am seen wandering through a shop clutching new underwear I ambuying/bought, for everyone to see. How does it differ from putting underwear in your shopping trolley at Tesco and putting it on the belt with all your other shopping while you wait for it to be scanned?

What happens if you go shopping in store carrying a basket?
All kinds of clothes might go in the basket, do some people buy a jumper they dont really want so that they can cover up the underwear in the basket?

An update on marks &Spencer no bags. I collected my order. Still arriving in the green plastic bags but I asked the assistant what will happen in the future. She said your orders will come in a cardboard box , phew , I had visions of walking around the shop with a 6 pack of full briefs , double gusset on view for everyone to see , 🤣🤣🤣🤣

We don’t get bags now and haven’t for some time. Just take your own.

Actually when I lived in UK I did pick up packs of knickers en route to the food hall and paid for everything together. I keep a waterproof fold up bag with me all the time now, so useful.

When I went to pay this summer, for some underwear and there were no bags offered, I asked for one of the plastic bags I saw, which had been used to transport the goods from the factory to the shop, that was lying in a pile behind the assistant. She was astonished but gave one to me.

Good to hear the items will come in a cardboard box instead.

I was beginning to wonder how they would know whose was whose without packaging.
