Good afternoon to you lovely lot.

My youngish sister who is being treated for cancer has had a scan which indicates that there is "something" on her liver. She's to see the oncologist tomorrow. She is in her very early sixties.

I have received appointment for 8th November for an abdominal X-ray at Oban hospital.

Mr Soop's scalp is looking less angry than it did when he returned from the zapping yesterday.

Nannytopsy Arthritis in the hip joint is a buggeration. I applaud your tenacity. Yes, Mr S needs the scalp zapped frequently. It is not a pretty sight.

Urms I wish that I had the skill to crochet like those Happy Hookers Your photograph does them proud.

Blossoming Your photograph is one of true peace and tranquillity.

I wish happy days to all of our Kitcheners who are taking a break and those meeting up with family and friends.

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people.

I'm sorry to hear of so many suffering one way or another, Soop and her dear sister, poor MrSoop's head, YiaYia, Grandmabatty's sciatica, Annsixty's upsetting experience, Urms' anxiety, poor Rosie's dew claw, sorry if I've missed you, I'm sending love and prayers for everyone wishing healing in mind, body and spirit. 💕🙏

Happy holidays to SueD and Brook, and all enjoying family visits. Special times, making lots of lovely memories.

Today DH and I visited the his dear sister's grave in the local cemetery, with flowers to mark the third anniversary of her death from Covid. We met her daughter, granddaughter and wee great grandson there, very sad.

TOYA, take care, wishing everyone a peaceful Thursday evening.

Grandmabatty Thu 26-Oct-23 16:27:44

Grannmarie a sad day for you all. 💐

Grannmarie Thu 26-Oct-23 16:59:23

Thank you, Grandmabatty.

Jaxjacky Thu 26-Oct-23 18:49:11

Oh dear soop hope your sister’s scan proves harmless.
Grannmarie 💐
Tried a new hairdresser today, a much better cut and £6 cheaper - result, then had a hefty shower as I left, oh well.
Apart from the shower, a pleasant day, a little cooler for my walk, but considering the date, not too bad.
Grandchildren are here Saturday night, my favourite band are playing in our local, the two don’t mix, we might do a car park session. They are a very loud rock band with full Halloween garb, customers usually dress up, we’ll ask the grandchildren, but I bet they’ll say yes.
SueD I visited Minnesota some years ago on business in late November, the Thanksgiving/Christmas displays outside of houses were amazing.
Hope todays visits, family meets, friendly chats and your day in general has gone well.

Grannmarie Thu 26-Oct-23 20:33:52

Thank you, Jaxjacky.
I'm sure your DGC will have a brilliant time on Saturday night. They'll feel very cool and grown up, going to a live gig down the pub, even if it is the car park!

brook2704 Thu 26-Oct-23 20:53:10

Good evening kitchen pals, all quiet here. DD1 and SiL have gone out for a meal and I’ve just put the DGSs to bed. The youngest has definitely been off colour today so we’ve not done much. He perked up a bit this afternoon so we had a short walk to the library and got a few new books to read. We’ve also been busy putting Halloween decorations up and drawing some scary pictures.
A sad day for you and your DH grannmarie sending 💐
A worry for you and your dear sister soop, hoping for a positive outcome
Sounds like your DGC are in for a real treat on Saturday Jax!

Grannmarie Thu 26-Oct-23 20:58:15

Thank you, Brook, have a lovely family time in Cambridge.

RosiesMaw Fri 27-Oct-23 00:02:05

Here’s the stained glass ornament I made looking bright and colourful in the sunshine. I’ve signed up for a course next year, one day a week for six weeks. I will make more stained glass objects and can’t wait.
Back to more mundane things. I sent an engage consult message at 7 am to the Health Centre. They called back at 1 pm. I have a minor UTI and have been prescribed antibiotics. OH is out this afternoon so will collect them for me.
Have a good rest of the day.

Yiayia4 Fri 27-Oct-23 17:21:08

Such a sad day for you Grandmarie.💐

Have a great evening tomorrow Jax

Thinking of you Soop.

We got home yesterday. It took 4 days to fix and what a nightmare it’s been!!So thankful we have family near and and a blessing although unwell,I was testing negative. My D.IL was a star and really looked after us.
Sadly my number 2DS is in a bad way again he’s back on the medication and is very distressed it’s very difficult,I need to go and see him as soon as.
It’s so very true it never rains but it pours😔
Have a good evening everyone.

Blossoming Fri 27-Oct-23 17:30:27

Good evening dear Kitcheners. I fell asleep after dinner yesterday and missed popping in to the Kitchen!

Granmarie a sad day for you and your family flowers. Glad MrSoop is looking better and hopefully less painful too, hope your sister has a good outcome soop. Sorry you’re poorly again LadyLFL, love your stained glass work.

MrB looks I have been to Lytham for some fresh air and exercise. It’s very cold but we’ve had some sunshine and I was snug in a thick hoody, fleece hat and gloves. Baked potatoes later, probably with beans and cheese. Hope I don’t fail asleep in my dinner grin

Blossoming Fri 27-Oct-23 17:32:53

Crossed posts Yia, I’m glad you’re home but sorry to read your son is unwell again. It’s so difficult to know how to help sometimes ❤️

RosiesMaw Fri 27-Oct-23 21:40:26

Rosie and I are so excited at the Rugby World Cup third place play off grin 🐶

Jaxjacky Fri 27-Oct-23 21:50:57

I’m so sorry to hear about your son Yia you must be very upset, it’s so hard to help with your loved one in a dark confusing place, I hope you can see him soon.
That was a quick response llfl hopefully a speedy recovery too.
It’s rained again off and on today, I managed a quick walk, Tesco delivered, so the fridge is full and our early evening in the local was a fun catch up with friends.
I could happily eat baked potatoes on a regular basis Blossoming sadly MrJ is not a fan.
Sleep well all, (after dinner Blossoming🙂)

Grandmabatty Fri 27-Oct-23 22:05:04

Yiayia I'm so sorry to hear about your son. I hope the medication works quickly.
Back home after babysitting the boys. They were very good and it was the easiest shift I've ever had. Both in bed by 7.30. I wish you all a peaceful night.

brook2704 Fri 27-Oct-23 22:21:24

So sorry to hear about your DS Yia I hope things improve a bit soon 💕

Catterygirl Fri 27-Oct-23 23:24:15

Good evening,

Hope everyone sleeps well and your worries will be less tomorrow.

Nannytopsy Sat 28-Oct-23 04:27:45

Good morning all! I didn’t open the bedroom window when we came up last night and I woke up dripping. Just cooling down.
DD texted last night to ask if they can come up for 24 hours. It will be lovely to see them but they will have to put up with the mess! A decorator in the kitchen has of course meant that all the other rooms are in chaos. I can’t see the diet doing well either 🤣.
You must both be worried Yiayia & soop - it’s more difficult when you’re away from them.
Well, I think I have cooled now so NNGB

soop Sat 28-Oct-23 16:00:16

A soggy good afternoon to you lovely lot.

I enjoyed a blether with our Baggs on the telephone this morning. We hope to meet up in the not too distant future.

I have good news to share with my favourite peoples (as Torben used to say).

I spoke to my young sister late yesterday afternoon. The lesion on her liver is benign. She and I shed tears of relief when she told me. She is half way through the chemo she needs as a result of the malignant tumours on her pancreas and part of the duodenum. Both surgically removed. So, deep breath, one worry less.

Second item of good news is that my youngest son (almost 50) has run up 1400 stairs, 58 storeys of London's tallest building in 12 mins and 51 seconds. He had the 37th best time out of several hundred runners. The money that he raised through sponsorship, is to be donated to the RNLI. I apologise for "showing off", I simply had to share with you all.

Yia my heart goes out to you. Your dear son will be foremost in your mind. Your friends here in the Kitchen send healing thoughts and a comforting virtual hug for you.

RosiesMaw Rosie looks sooooooooo stressed. wink grin

Grannmarie flowers I wish that they were real. smile

Llfl Your stained glass ornament is stunning. It suits the location in which you have placed it.
Sorry to hear about the UTI. Drink plenty of fluids and take the meds. You do not deserve such a buggeration.

I shall say farewell and hope to be with you all again tomorrow. Enjoy your weekend. smile moon

gillgran Sat 28-Oct-23 17:59:42

soop, better news from your sister, healing wishes for her continuing treatment.
Your son did fantastically well, all those steps in that short time! & what a good charity, RNLI is one of my favourites.

Sorry to hear your son is distressed, Yiayia, I hope things improve for him. It's such a worry when our loved ones are unwell & sad.

That's how I like to watch the rugby, Rosie!! grin

Enjoy your visit from your daughter, Nannytopsy, she comes to see you, not the house. wink
(that's what I tell myself!).

Safe journey home brook, hope your enjoyed your family time in our County City.

Our DD & DGDs went home last night, they have swimming lessons on a Saturday morning. We had a lovely time here for the past 4 days, it's so good to see them. (but that's maybe why I look like Rosie in repose..!!

Warm wishes to you all.

brook2704 Sat 28-Oct-23 18:28:56

Good afternoon kitchen pals, I’ve just arrived at Gatwick airport and I’ll be getting the flight up to Inverness soon. Thank you all for your good wishes.
We’ve had a lovely day today, it’s been quite warm so after a morning in Cambridge centre we drove out to a nearby country park for a walk around the woods and a treat for us all in the cafe. Much laughter when the toy boomerang the boys were playing with got stuck in a tree. Luckily we retrieved it. The picture is some gorgeous autumn colours on a house near DD1s - just had to take a picture. It’s been so lovely seeing everyone, it’s always hard to say goodbye but I’ll be back again soon.
Thinking of you and your DS Yia I hope you get to see him soon
Goodness nannytopsy you had either a very late night or a very early morning- hope you sleep much better tonight
I’m so pleased there’s good news from your sister soop, such a welcome relief. And a very big well done to your son too, a brilliant achievement - such a fast time for all those stairs. I always notice the difference when staying at DD1s house as she’s got a 3 storey townhouse and we’ve got a bungalow!

SueDonim Sat 28-Oct-23 19:11:11

A few more fall photos.

I hope you’re feeling better, Yia. My DIL has a cold (and my dd and my GS and GD! 🦠) and thinks she’d getting a sinus infection, too. Your poor son, it’s awful to see your children in distress. flowers
Wonderful work in that topper, Urms.
I laughed at your mention of yogurt splatters, GMbatty. Same for me after we’ve looked after the GC.
Glad you’ve had a good time, Brook. The guided buses sound intriguing! Are they driverless? What an extraordinary amount of berries on that plant!
Granmarie flowers for your SIL.
There are some extraordinary Halloween displays here, Jax? The 15ft tall skeletons in front yards freak me out!
That’s beautiful, LLFL. We certain,y have some talented folk in the Kitchen!
It’s good to get out into the fresh air, isn’t it, Blossoming?
I see from your photo that Rosie and I share the same enthusiasm for sport, Maw. grin I am chuckling at Gillgran resembling Rosie.
Hope the decorator has done his work and gone by now, Topsy.
Huge relief for your sister your family, Soop. Well done to your son. I read last week that climbing the stairs is as good an exercise as many others for using calories and fitness training!

This is our last full day with my son. At least it’s a Saturday so the GC are around keep us cheerful. We’ve had a few very warm days, in the high 70F’s. Overnight temps plummeted so it’s about 50deg today. It seems we’ll be returning to perpetual rain until at least 7th Nov. How can there be so much rain in the clouds??

We’re off out for some retail therapy this afternoon and then to enjoy a last evening meal together for a while, though indoors, unlike the last few days when we’ve been able to eat outside.

Enjoy your extra hour’s sleep everyone - I feel that I’m missing out as the clocks don’t go back here until next month! TOYA. Xx

brook2704 Sat 28-Oct-23 19:24:33

Safe journey home SueD , I hope you don’t have as much disruption as you did on your outbound leg. Love your colourful fall pictures too - just gorgeous. The guided buses do have drivers like any other bus but who knows in the future!

gillgran Sat 28-Oct-23 19:38:01

SueDonim, You would chuckle even more if you met me! smile.
I meant that I'm weary after DD & 6 & 9 year old DGDs visit.
I do wish I was as slim & sleek as MawsRosie. !!
