My back has “gone” again. I think it’s sciatica and I strongly suspect am aggravating it by possibly walking awkwardly on account of PF.
So I’ve got the electric shiatsu manager going full blast and if it is still bad tomorrow I may try to get the dog walker to take Rosie out for me. I don’t “have a bad back” normally and this is totally unpredictable. Having just finished 6 weeks of shockwave therapy for my foot at some expense, I don’t really want to start with osteopaths too!
Sorry to moan - Englands performance in the World Cup,is not doing much to cheer me up either sad

brook2704 Sat 07-Oct-23 18:31:01

Take care blossoming and look after yourself, hope all is well

Hoping your back eases soon too Maw, take care all

Grandmachrisy47 Sat 07-Oct-23 18:31:11

Get well soon Bossoming and RosiesMaw and take care Naughtyneine

Jaxjacky Sat 07-Oct-23 18:34:22

Oh no Blossoming I was just thinking you’d got through your jabs ok too, hopefully rest will help you.
Your grandson sounds delightful Sue.
I hope ouir Scottish contingent are fry, warm and safe.
Newspaper day, I’ve read it front to back, crosswords for later, I had a pleasant warm in the sun that appeared briefly, it’s about 19 now.
Scotland v Ireland rugby later, we’ll be rooting for Ireland.
Thoughts for those of you down in the mire 💐

Jaxjacky Sat 07-Oct-23 18:34:41

Fry! Dry..

SueDonim Sat 07-Oct-23 18:54:32

He won’t need paying, Charley, he’ll do just about anything for food! grin

Your garden sounds like Sleeping Beauty with all the roses, Corner. I don’t think I’ll be seeing any more flowers on mine this year. Im glad MrC enjoyed his drive.

Hope you feel better after a good sleep, Blossoming.

Welcome, RosiesMaw. Back problems are the pits. flowers

It’s still raining here. I can’t imagine how it can possibly be sunny elsewhere when we’re inundated with cats and dogs. 😂

The cakes are in the oven but there was a hiccup in that my Magimix has stopped working. The poor handbeater had to do the work instead, it got rather hot under the strain. Puds are made but I’ll steam them tomorrow.

I suppose I should get something to eat now but I could just shut my eyes and have a quick nap instead…zzzzzz.

cornergran Sun 08-Oct-23 07:50:45

How are you today blossoming? Hope you slept. What about you maw? Discomfort eased overnight? Pain is debilitating.

Only two climbers to be tamed sued, its a tiny garden. There are several roses in tubs though, I do love them. I’ll also tackle the weeds and other climbers if I can, although I love it gardening slipped off the list and it’s a bit (very!) untidy out there. Will have to re-think soon, designing the garden ten years ago I gave no thought to the impact of time on my body. Hope you slept well after your hard work. All will be enjoyed I’m sure.

First cuppa of they day has arrived. Thank you Mr C smile. More getting back to normal. We’re very fortunate I think.

Blossoming Sun 08-Oct-23 10:32:50

Good morning all. Thank you for all your good wishes. I have had a very long sleep and I’m still in bed. Not feeling good but better than yesterday! I thought I had escaped any post vaccine issues but it seems not. I hesitate to go into details and I don’t want to put anyone off having their vaccine. I know it will wear off and it’s preferable to catching Covid.

Lovely to read everyone’s news and I’m really pleased you’re gradually getting back to normal Cornergran.

Gransnet is my window on the world and I do feel like I drop into a friendly and cozy kitchen here, so comforting.

Nannytopsy Sun 08-Oct-23 11:04:58

Morning all! Hello RosiesMaw 😉
I’m off to cut the lawn - I may be some time …

Jaxjacky Sun 08-Oct-23 11:08:54

Hopefully more rest and time will sort you out Blossoming.
Glad Mr c is returning to duties corner! Good luck with the gardening.
I’m just waiting for the washing machine to finish doing its thing.

RosiesMaw Sun 08-Oct-23 11:13:51

Relieved to hear from you Blossoming and that you are “listening to your body”
Hope a gentle day will get you back on your feet very soon flowers

RosiesMaw Sun 08-Oct-23 11:17:52

Back seems to be OK thank you - but it’s depressing, when it has “gone” once I feel I’m constantly on the alert for twinges and tweaks.
Got to keep moving, though, yesterday’s World Cup did me very little good (and even less to the Scottish rugby team)

brook2704 Sun 08-Oct-23 14:53:33

Good to hear you’re a bit better blossoming and hopefully over the worst. Funny isn’t it how there’s so many different reactions to the vaccine. You just never know
Also good to hear about your back maw hope it behaves from now on
I wish we were being fried Jax better than being soaked like we are just now. The rain stopped briefly for half an hour this morning so I put on my wellies and went to look around the garden. Lots of big puddles and soggy plants but hopefully it’ll drain away soon.
I’m just waiting for DD2 to drop the terrible twosome off here, they’re staying over tonight and if it’s dry tomorrow we’re taking them for a day out at the Highland Wildlife park. It’s the start of 2 weeks school holidays here so it’ll probably be busy. They’ve both got Blue Peter badges so you can get free entry to lots of attractions with a paying adult, worthwhile having that these days.
Hope you got your lawn mowed nanny
I’ve just made some healthy-ish flapjacks to take with us tomorrow and I’ll get some sandwiches made later - these DGC have been brought up on soggy picnics since they were tiny! 🤣

Grandmabatty Sun 08-Oct-23 14:58:54

Brook good luck with your childcare days! A soggy picnic sounds grand. Blossoming I'm glad you are taking things easy. Hopefully you'll feel better soon. RosiesMaw the same to you.
I have been very lazy today. I've made a slow cooker steak casserole which I'll have later with a piece of homemade apple tart for dessert. I might do a little ironing or I might leave it til tomorrow. Have a good afternoon kitcheners.

Baggs thanks for updating us happy to read your daughter is doing ok on treatment, long may it continue.
My Dd used to do wall climbing a few years ago she enjoyed it while it lasted then children arrived 😆

soop Sun 08-Oct-23 15:54:15

Belated greetings to you lovely lot. A very warm welcome to our Kitcheners who have returned to share time with us.

Many thanks for some marvellous photographs. Oh, those azure blue skies are almost too good to be true. West coast of Scotland has been flooded in several areas.

Baggs A good many years ago I would have enjoyed the challenge of the climbing wall. Such fun and beneficial for maintaining strength and stamina.
Your dear daughter is an inspiration. flowers

Our lovely Aussie family shared many happy memories and lots of laughter. Our nephew is quite amazing...he has clocked up goodness knows how many miles on the hire car clock. He has travelled to Wales to call on friends before taking to the road to Kintyre. After leaving us, due to road closures at The Rest and Be Thankful (landslides) they had a 60 mile diversion before taking the road to Yorkshire. Ten and a half hours later they arrived in Beverley. They have a full itinerary over the next two and a half weeks. Going a long way further south in England and fitting in visits to other family members and friends. Such energy. Most admirable.

We tried to watch the rugby match between Ireland and Scotland but chickened out because our team was in for a thrashing. Aren't we lily-livered?

soop Sun 08-Oct-23 15:58:11

RosesMaw Back troubles are a bane of anyone's life. Listen to your body. the same goes for more of our lot that have aches and pains and strains to contend with.

soop Sun 08-Oct-23 16:03:41

Although I have been absent for a short spell, I feel very much out of touch. Our next visitor isn't due for ten days. In the meantime I shall do my very best to play proper catch-up.

TOYA smile moon

Hello Kitcheners, settled back in our new home after a lovely holiday. Now I need to sort myself out health wise.My mobility is getting worse I’m finding walking for more than five minutes so painful.I can’t ignore it anymore It’s very frustrating so I will try and see my rheumatologist as soon as possible.

That’s a enough of me.Hope your feeling a bit better Blossoming.

Home from Italy where yesterday morning we had a temperature of 30C and beautiful blue skys to flooding and rain. Driving home from the airport last night was difficult as although the flooding on the motorway had subsided there was a significant amount of surface water. There was also the usual idiot drivers who refuse to slow down making it more difficult for everyone else. One road out of Dunblane closed due to damage caused to it by all the water. The last time this happened it took them months to fix it ☹️. One last picture the Pizzomunno Rock in Vieste.
flowers and hugs especially to Urms and Baggs.

SueDonim Sun 08-Oct-23 20:39:58

Oh my goodness, the rain! It woke me up overnight, it was hammering down so hard on the roof. It stopped for an hour or so this afternoon and then the skies opened again, giving all the dogs and their poor walkers a sousing. We then had half an hours watery sunshine before nighttime closed in. Dh and I haven’t been out since Friday. grin

Instead, I’ve steamed the Xmas puds, one large one and four small ones which will be split between my boys. Goodness knows what the X-ray machines at the airport will make of my Xmas goodies when I go to the US. 👀 I also turned out a cupboard in the recess that is optimistically called the utility room in this house. Threw away some odds and ends, earmarked things for recycling and others bits to go and live in the garage.

I ordered a lot of spring bulbs last night which will keep me busy with planting later on in the season. It’s mainly daffs and tulips with some iris and crocus. I received a belated birthday present today, a new Kindle. I’d asked for vouchers for my birthday to put towards a new one, then this week A*mazon Prime has a special deal on so I ordered it on Friday. My old one is almost 10 and is really quite ploddingly slow now.

Blossoming your comment on this place being your window on the world is just so lovely. ❤️
Hope you manage a not-too-soggy picnic tomorrow, Brook!
Soop it sounds as though you’ve had a lovely time with your visitors.
flowers for Yia.
All this rain must be a shock to your system after Italy’s gorgeous weather, Scapa. Turn the heating up to full on!

TOYA. Xx

Good morning, Soop and lovely Kitchen people! Soop, I'm so glad that you enjoyed your visitors, they sound like great company. I'm sorry they had such a detour because of the landslides.

Grandmabatty, relax and enjoy your wee break from child care. You are an absolute marvel, looking after your wee boys and attending your Mum well, so spoil yourself this week!

Cornergran, it's great to hear that MrC is enjoying driving again, he's regaining his strength and confidence thanks to your TLC. Take good care of yourself too !

Thinking of all who are under the weather, and all caring for their loved ones. I hope Blossoming is feeling a bit better today.

Good luck to Brook and all Grans helping with childcare during the Scottish October break, I hope you get some picnic weather after the floods.

I arrived home from Nice in the early hours 2ish, so I'm having a lazy morning. My sisters and I had a wonderful time together, we enjoyed each other's company and appreciated being fortunate to have sisters' time together. My sisters are my best friends.💕 We had a great day out in Monaco on Saturday, open top bus tour, champagne 🥂 in Monte Carlo, a wee paddle at Larvotto beach, then Vigil Mass nearby, followed by steak dinner then late train back to Nice. Sunday was a restful day by rooftop pool and jacuzzi, enjoying the last of the sun ☀.

TOYA, apologies if I haven't mentioned you by name, I've got a lot of kitchen news to catch up on! Wishing you all a good Monday.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 09-Oct-23 12:54:58

Hello kitchen people. I’m curled up on the sofa with covid and a cat! Such a pain as I had a busy week planned. I’ve had to cancel my covid and flu jabs for a second time. Third time lucky sometime? I heard from my sister yesterday and apparently lots of people who were in France at the wedding have got covid, including the groom.
Have a good day everyone 🌺

Grannmarie Mon 09-Oct-23 13:20:57

Aww, Ladyleftfieldlover, I'm sorry to hear that. Plenty of fluids, paracetamol and rest should help. Take care.

Grandmabatty Mon 09-Oct-23 15:38:13

It definitely seems to be on the rise again Ladyleftfieldlover. Grannmarie what a wonderful time you have had. I'm quite jealous.
My house smells of cinnamon and cloves with a hint of wine vinegar. I'm making the Christmas spiced red cabbage which is braising in the oven. I've done an ironing and put the clothes away and hoovered. I slept really badly last night so a nap is now in order. Have a good afternoon kitcheners
