Annoying noises

On the radio here just now they have a phone in about what everyday noises really irritate people. Apparently there is a link between OCD and the extent to which noises get on your nerves. Things that were mentioned was the crunch of someone eating an apple, noisy eaters and slurpers and sneezing. All of these irritate me ( I don’t have OCD ), especially sneezing and another one is a chesty cough, probably a Covid thing, because if I hear someone coughing in a supermarket I shift aisles quickly and head off in the opposite direction ! I also can’t stand the noise of someone talking on the phone loudly.
What annoys you, if anything?
Oh, and dogs barking at night!

Kalu

Motorbikes and mopeds. The horrendous noise they emit unsettles me to the point of fear and anxiety whenever I hear them approach.

I'll try to remember never to ride near you then! My 1100cc Custom makes a bit of a noise (though not as much a (Harley!) grin

I'm autistic, so certain noises really get to me on a visceral level, far too many to list here, though! I also can't cope with competing noises such as someone trying to talk to me whilst the TV is on in the background, or indeed, trying to watch TV whilst someone else has a conversation in the same room (no matter how quietly they talk). I can hear both but can decipher neither. My partner has ADHD and has a similar problem, it seems to be fairly common in the neurodiverse. There are other noises that just simply annoy me; children shouting and screaming in restaurants, anyone talking loudly on a mobile whilst on public transport, dogs that are allowed to bark non-stop, loud music in neighbour's gardens in the summer..... maybe I'm just a female Victor Meldrew grin When I was married my then-h snored. It was a nice, fairly quiet, rhythmic snore and I didn't mind it at all. Then he developed sleep apnea and I couldn't cope with the erratic and loud snores that he then produced. He had a CPAP machine but didn't like wearing the mask so he often didn't. A new bedroom called for me! Lol!

Curling

People who scuff their shoes along the floor without picking their feet up.

Yes, it's coming to Ugg boot season 😟

Ticking clocks in the bedroom

Things annoy me rather than people.
Microwave pings or beeps. Wonder if they can be muted 🔇

Loud voiceovers announcing the next programme on TV whilst I am still “digesting” the current one and whilst the credits are still running. (Especially if it’s something infuriating such as Eastenders or Mrs Browns Boys 👹)

Almost all of the sounds mentioned so far annoy me. A local one drives me nuts though - our caretaker loves his petrol driven leaf blower and seems to use it all the time instead of a brush. I can see him chasing round with it after a single leaf or crisp packet!! Drives us all nuts.

I dislike the sound of... well... I think many people can relate. The other day I was walking to the bus stop to head to my daughters house, when at the stop there were two young kids going at it. I almost didn't get on the bus. Even whilst on the bus the pair didn't stop. I think the young generation need to show more respect. Am I still allowed to hit them with my bag? Besides the young boy tried swinging at me for trying to help the poor young girl. No respect for old people anymore, its not very fair.

●Dripping taps.
●House or car alarms that keep going off - I already have tinnitus and some alarms may have stopped but not in my ears, and that is very annoying!
●Ticking clocks in or near my bedroom.
●Random little noises that seem to appear out of nowhere, or if I've moved/visited a new place and hear them, they have to be found. Once identified, I'm usually ok with them, as long as they're not drips or clocks!!
●Screaming - anyone - just for the hell of it!
●Definitely yapping or barking dogs that go on and on. Theexwife I'd have reported the barking dog to the noise abatement team at my local council or/& the RSPCA!
●Loud talkers - unfortunately, I love with one but he's learning to quieten down when I glare at him or tell him the volume is too high!
●Noisy, slurpy eaters - babies are excused, they don't know any better, but adults are not!
●The sudden start up and revving of loud motorbikes and music blasting from cars. The music blasting is supposed to be illegal nowadays. Supposed to be!!
●Loud music, sudden loud noises, loud fireworks going off all year round.
●Loud crowds, crowds in general as I panic!
