I am a singer and of course rehearse christmas music earlier than december but that is for a reason. Other than that I am a traditionalist and very bossy about it in my own area!! I will not even contemplate anything to do with christmas until bonfire night is over. Everything in its place. It ruins it for children I think as that lovely anticipating things is lost when you do things too far in advance. so after bonfire night the next thing is making christmas cake or whatever and checking on posting dates for overseas friends by normal mail not airmail!! I avoid as much as possible any over decorated places, if i go into a cafe that is playing christmas music in november or even first week december I will politely ask for it to be switched off. If I get a negative reply I get up and leave! dont come singing carols at my house before the last week before christmas day!! I am not a scrooge and love it all at the right time. spend many hours singing in concerts, carol groups for charity etc etc. when I used to do hospital car had many patients who lived alone and my little gift to them used to be a little paper plate on which I had put home backed sausage rolls 2 made with flaky pastry, 2 very posh mincepies which were made with butter and orange juice pastry and home made mince and then a spoonful of philadelphia cheese mixed with sugar. Very rich but delicions and a few nuts etc and a satsuma or something. I enjoyed making them and it meant they had a little special treat to go with a christmas drink or whatever. So my place is very much everything in its time and place to enjoy and not ruined by overkill!!
