Soop's warm and welcoming kitchen for kindly folk.
(1001 Posts)Welcome, dear Kitcheners. Enjoy the new kitchen and, once again, thank you all for helping to make it a very special place.
and a huge group hug.
That’s not good yia. Hope you’re both over it very soon.
Too much news for me to comment on so I’ll wish you all a good night, especially urms. TOYA.
Urms, I think that’s very understandable.
I think I missed that your Dh was unwell, Dusty. I send him and you my good wishes for a speedy recovery.
Granmarie your family getogether sounded lovely, despite the wet driving. We seem to have avoided most of the rain, don’t know how. Good luck to your Dh tomorrow.
I
at your two-hour chat with your GD, Corner. I sometimes feel like that after my DC have called. Yesterday dd2 phoned me because she had a flat tyre. I’m five hours drive away - what did she think I could possibly do?? 🤷♀️ It was all sorted eventually, thanks to the RAC.
Aw, Milo, LLFL. 😍
Hope the dentist visit is ok, Soop. We have that joy to look forward to in January. 🙄
It was indeed dark today, Jax. I had a dream last night that there was a village in Scotland where it never got dark. It wasn’t Brigadoon, though!
😱 at the bloody nose, GMbatty! I just managed to dodge my GD doing that to me on Saturday. My glasses would have been impaled on my face if she’d made contact.
Enjoy your trip to Cambridge, Brook! I’ve bought two Radio Timeses (is that a word?). It’s the only RT I buy each year but then my dd said she couldn’t get one so could I buy her one if I came across them. I did indeed spot some and got her one. No payment has been forthcoming so my RT has cost me £11 this year! 😂
I’m sorry you’re so unwell, Yia. This round of Covid seems to be knocking folk for six.
Urgh, Topsy, you poor thing, dealing with dog poo, and not even your own dogs.
Lovely photo, Blossoming.
My latest news is that we are home! There didn’t seem any point in staying away any longer and the humidity levels in the house are reducing quickly, thanks to the dehumidifiers. We’ve put things more to rights eg put furniture back where it had been moved for access and moved spoiled stuff into the garage. The insurance people phoned today to arrange for the loss adjuster to come in. Not until second week of January! I’ve said I’ll take a cancellation if there is one.
We brought the tree in last night. It’s got a fairy on the top but nothing else yet! That’s tomorrow’s job. I’ve collected orders from shops and wrapped almost all the presents and I’ve turned on the spare fridge freezer in the garage so can but some Christmas food now.
I’m off to my lovely bed right now - it’s nineteen days since I slept in it. 🥱 😴
Yiayia 💐&☕️ Get well soon!
Granmarie -GL w/ parking 🚗& yr dhs app't
SueD Being back home & able to sleep in yr own bed must feel wonderful!
Urms (hug)
Mr & Mrs Soop GL @ the dentist
Blossoming Trains🚂 & boats⛴️nearby to home - lucky u!
Brook Safe journey to Cambridge.
V late post from me, the delay was b/c I was on a Christmas card mission! (finally)
I've been awake for 2 hours. I had a really distressing afternoon. A missive from S2 reminding me of a message that D2 sent after my sister's funeral. She enclosed a copy of it. I couldn't understand what she meant as I hadn't received the original. The shock and adrenaline have made me feel very unwell. It turns out that the original was dropped at my friend's house and she bought it and my Grandmother's rings down when she visited in September. She and DOH decided it was kinder not to show it to me but with yesterday's message arriving DOH had no choice. It appears this latest onslaught is due to my meeting with my DGS a few weeks ago. It isn't however from his Mother or Father both of whom knew we had met. It was vindictive and I'm sad to say typical of my youngest daughter. She apparently knows that I intend to marry next year and I wonder if that has something to do with this too. I hope this tight chest and fast heartbeat settles soon.
Dusty... I will pray for you and your DH and hope he is home soon.
Urms. Ditto prayers for you and your DH.
Safe journey Brook and enjoy your early celebrations.
GrandmaB...I hope noses and heads are not too bruised.
Yia... That's not nice just before Christmas...wishing you well very soon.
Good Luck for today for your DH Grandmarie. I hope it all
goes smoothly and the two of
you are not too worn out at
the end of the day.
SueD... I'm so pleased you are back in your own home at last and you can enjoy Christmas now even if it isn't as you planned.
Blossoming... Lovely picture and lovely to read you are out and about again.
Topsy...I feel your pain ..DDog 1 that we lost 2 weeks ago ran under a farm gate on the way back from the beach and rolled in a cow pat. The journey back to our holiday cottage was a nightmare. The smell was overpowering. We were staying in a very swish holiday cottage with no outside tap and I had to resort to throwing washing up bowls of water over him all watched by other holiday makers breakfasting outside. The odour of eau de cow stayed with us for days.
How did you get on in the quiz Jax?
LLFL...our 22 year old cat does the same as Milo too.
DOH is stirring beside me so I can finally get a cup of tea I haven't wanted to risk disturbing him by getting up before.... I hope Tuesday is kind to you all.
So sorry to hear of this latest upset neine, I really feel for you. Cant really offer any advice but sending much ❤️
Pleased you’re back home now in time for Christmas SueD hope you’ve not lost anything too valuable and things can get replaced.
Thanks for the recommendation Jax unfortunately we don’t have Sky but might be able to watch it in catch up at DD2s!
Hoping all goes well with your DH today grannmarie
I’m sat in the lounge at Inverness airport, the flight appears to be on time. The airport here is so small and friendly, theres no queues for security or anything like that, Im making the most of it before the mayhem at the other end!
I’m so sorry neine, hope there is some pleasant distraction for you today to help you regain equilibrium
It must feel wonderful to be home sued.
Good luck with the dentist to the soops.
Safe travels brook. Say hello to Cambridge for us.
Not at all sure what we’ll do today. The rain is supposed to stop late morning. If so we’ll go a wandering.
So unnecessary neine I’m stuck for advice, try and have a gentle day.
Oh bugrit *Yia I’m sorry to hear that, hopefully you’ll both recover swiftly.
Welcome news from you SueDonim, nothing quite like home and your own bed.
Quiz was great fun, very, very busy, the team of two who won were strangers and allegedly were a bit naughty. The evening was well advertised with a top prize of £50, shame if the allegations were fact. We came fifth, MrJ won best Christmas outfit!
brook if you like it, one off Detectorists on Thursday, BBC2 9pm, have a smooth flight.
I'm sorry you've been distressed again, neine, sending warm, comforting thoughts to you.
grannmarie, hope all goes well for your DH today, take care.
Pleased to hear that you are back in your own home, SueDonim. Water leaks are worrying, do you know where it came from? We had (a lesser) one a short time ago, turned out there was a small split in our dishwasher outlet pipe, it took ages for the concrete floor to dry, ( in the meantime, the dishwasher made an island in the kitchen!).
Hope you've had/are having a good journey to Cambridge, brook. After 4 dry days, we've had rain for the past 12 hours, it should stop for you soon!!
I now must try to finish wrapping Christmas gifts.
Kindly greetings to you all.
Oh Neine that is so mean of your D.
How she can sleep at night, I do not know.
Jax your quiz sounds as though it has the ingredients for a crime novel!
Hi gillgran I’ve almost arrived and it’s still raining ☔️ Never mind though I’m just about to get off the train and hopefully DD will pick me up from the station. I’ll be busy wrapping gifts this afternoon too whilst munching on a mince pie or two !!
Thanks for the recommendation Jax I’ll definitely watch it 😀
Urms I understand. I am fond of my bed and the peace and quiet.
Yia Getting Covid for a second time is a buggeration with bells on. Plenty of fluids and plenty of rest.
Grannmarie Both you and your husband are in my thoughts. We look forward to a positive update.
Dentist visit was a doddle. We return in six months time. I'm betting that the weather will be a good deal warmer than it is today. The sea is rough and the waves are white-capped. Apparently, the west coast is in for a period of high winds.
Neine I am so sorry that you have been treated with such a lack of compassion. I completely understand how hurt you must feeling. I wish you peace of mind.
SueD Home is where the heart is.
Yia I also wish your husband a speedy recovery.
brook May your journey be safe and uneventful.
I have a few local cards to pop into the village shop tomorrow. Every Christmas there is a box by the counter into which the villagers file their cards in readiness for collection.
I also have a fragile gift to wrap for our friend who celebrates her birthday on Christmas Day.
Love to you all. I hope to join you again tomorrow.

Good evening Kitcheners. That is Grandma's childcare closed til January. The boys have been dropped off and are both hyper. I am having a cheeky half hour on the couch. Then a lazy evening. Soop your village sounds like a proper community. Neine I hope you are feeling better about things tonight. Brook I expect you are in the throes of wrapping. Jaxjacky I'm a big fan of the Detectorists. Grannmarie I hope all went well today. Take care all
Evening All’.
A wonderful day with L’il Miss. 🥰 We both had our nails done at the salon this morning.
This afternoon, rather clumsily, I managed to spill a hot drink over my iPad. It won’t boot up. It’s quite old & Himself has just said I’m to get myself a new one - saying he didn’t know what to get me for Christmas anyway. I felt quite upset. It doesn’t take much these days to make me tearful.
So I’ve just had a nice hot shower, washed my emotions down the plug hole with the suds and put on clean pj’s. I’m sharing an iPad with Himself for now. That’ll curtail my habit somewhat ….
Urmstongran, how lovely to share the pleasure of a manicure with your L'il Miss. She will have enjoyed such a grown up occasion with you. Sorry that you have iPad problems, sometimes " just another thing" triggers our emotions.
Take care, dear lady. x
Warm thoughts to you & all in soop's friendly kitchen.
I was indeed wrapping Grandmabatty while MrJ is at bowls I’ve got his completed but done ‘not much else’ today apart from housework and cooking, it rained until about four, miserable
Easy done Urms both the laptop accident and the flood of emotion, it just catches you sometimes when you least expect it ❤️,
Hoping to hear from Grannmarie and dusty at some point, wishing them well.
A quick hello 👋 to everyone, thank you so much for your kind good wishes for DH'S procedure today. We are just home from the hospital, I've popped dinner in the oven, he's starving after all the preparation and fasting! The hospital gave him a sandwich but thats just a starter for ten...
I was called to collect DH at 7pm, I'd left him at 2. He said the surgeon told him she was pleased with today's work, 2 and a half hours of polyp removal, samples sent for biopsy, a return visit in the New Year to hopefully complete the procedure.
DH is contacting the boys now to update them, I'm going to set the table.
I'll come back later to catch up on all the news, thanks again for your kind wishes. 🥰
Hello all, just popped in to see if any news and there you are Grannmarie. That’s wonderful news about your DH.
Glad you’ve had a good day Urms, iPad mishap notwithstanding.
Enjoy your well earned rest Grandmabatty.
Neine that is such a mean and spiteful thing for your daughter to have done, any fault here does not lie with you. Just be glad that you have a man who loves you and who you love in return. You have a wedding to look forward to.
I have been out for a walk again today, my gratitude journal is filling up nicely. The sun came out, the light was beautiful and the wind was freeeeeezing! No ice on the water.
Good news Grannmarie chop chop with food, he’s a growing lad🙂.
And you sound positively glowing Blossoming 👏👏.
Tiredness is creeping in, we were later to bed last night and I didn’t sleep well, shandy at the quiz all evening tends to mean bathroom visits, annoying as I usually sleep through, tmi people!
Grannmarie I'm glad to hear that the procedure went ok
Dear Urms, we can cope fine until something small goes wrong and then it floors us completely. But tomorrow is another day and a new I-pad will demand so much attention you won’t have time to be overwhelmed. Sleep well.
Good to hear all went well today grannmarie
Sorry to hear about the iPad Urms but pleased you’ve had a lovely morning in the salon with your L’il Miss ❤️
A lovely evening here, we had roast chicken and vegetables and watched the Sing2 film which I really enjoyed. It’s the last day of school tomorrow for the DGSs and they’re both super excited about Christmas.
Lovely picture blossoming pleased you got out and enjoyed your walk
Grandmabatty hope you enjoy a wee rest over the holidays and have some ‘me’ time to recharge your batteries
Pleased to see good news granmarie.
Hope you’re asleep by now urms and not fretting about the accidental iPad bath. You had such a good time with your granddaughter, don’t let it be spoiled by a machine. We’ve a battle raging over my iPad. It’s ancient, crawls along but until it grinds to a halt I’m keeping it. Mr C would like me to have a new one and, wait for it, threatens to spill his coffee all over it.
Pleased the dental trip was positive soop. We’re in a dental desert at the moment. Ours has left and we’re told no appointments until a replacement arrives. We may have to bite a very expensive bullet, without breaking teeth, and find a private dentist.
Rest time now grandmab. The next early morning will arrive quickly enough I’m sure.
I’m finally tired so will wish you all a good night. Sleep well.
Thank you for all your interesting posts. Kindness and consideration for others is, as always, in abundance.
We've been invited to share a fish and chip supper with our pals in the village. Fish and chips are top of our favourite food list. I almost forgot to mention that there will also be mushy peas. Let joy be unconfined.
Mr Soop's swollen foot and lower leg appears to be responding to the water tablets. He has to return to see the GP tomorrow for a check-up. His scalp also needs to be redressed.
There are a few odd jobs for us to deal with. By Monday, we should be in the mood to relax and enjoy a few wee treats.
I shall continue to pop into our kitchen. Try not to stress. It simply isn't worth the wasted energy.
Thinking of you all.
