I always enjoy your posts too Ann, so I hope you keep popping in.

I hope Mr. Soop is improving.

I feel as if I’ve lost all track of time. Probably all sense as well! I know DD’s we’re both going out today somewhere but I can’t for the life of me remember where. I’ll look on Instagram in a minute and if they’ve posted a photo that will save me asking again.

Son in law went home early this morning so DN took me to the hospital this afternoon. I’m very lucky that that they are both willing to take me but as the parking is so horrendous at the hospital, I have to be dropped off as near as possible to the door while they look for a parking space and then they either double park and stay with the car to shuffle it around or if they are very lucky find a space and either take a walk ( SiL managed 10,000steps yesterday! ) or wait in hospital waiting room until I come back down from the 4th floor ward. Then they are allowed to go up. None of us know why the hospital policy is only one visitor at a time. Is it the same in England. I didn’t go on Friday as I’ve got a cold/sore throat thing that I don’t want to pass on to DH. Otherwise I wear a mask.
DH is improving very slowly.
Did I say that he’s had 18centimetres of colon removed? He’s seeing the surgeon every morning and she has told him that she has got all the cancer.
We’re still not sure when he will be allowed home and however much he wants to, and however near to Christmas it gets, I’ve
told him not to push it as it’s more important to get really well in the long term.

I’ve just had a quick look at Instagram on my phone to find out that DDs and their cousin were at The Royal Albert Hall earlier.

dustyangel remember to take care of yourself x

brook2704 Sun 17-Dec-23 20:34:12

Well done in the draw Jax, 3 good prizes, not bad at all 😀
Good to hear your DH is recovering slowly Dusty, sounds like a hassle visiting at the hospital though. I hope he’s able to get home soon but agree that it’s best that he takes his time and doesn’t rush it
Sounds like a lovely Christmas lunch Urms , pleased you enjoyed the day 💐
DGS has just gone through to bed, we’ve played a few games and watched a bit of tv, I’m just going to chill out on the sofa now before an early start tomorrow
If you’re reading ann, sending much ❤️

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. What a busy place this week! I've lots to catch up on.
Soop, I hope you and MrSoop are doing OK, and his antibiotics are helping.
Dustyangel, I'm glad MrD is through his surgery and his surgeon is pleased with her work, very good news.
Ann, I'm sorry to hear you've been upset.
Take a wee break if it helps you, but remember that you are welcome and valued in Soop's supportive kitchen.
peli, thanks for your reply, I wondered where you were in the world to be enjoying that wonderful light. Our skies had been very grey recently.
YiaYia, I love your sofa, I'm glad you are feeling more at home now.
SueD, I'm so sorry to hear about your flood damage. Your insurance company seem to be dealing well with it, fingers crossed you can get home soon. 🤞

Apologies if I have not mentioned you by name, I've read all your posts.

DH and I have have a few busy days. I went to Glasgow Fort ( nearest M and S) for the last of the Christmas shopping, DH wrapped it. We've done most of the shopping online, our days of traipsing around shopping centres are numbered.

Yesterday we had a dreich drive up the motorway to see DGD in her Christmas show, the local youth theatre's spin on Aladdin. It was great to see her enjoying herself in her first speaking part... only a few words but a wee step up from last year.

Today, another dismal drive, lots of rain, surface water and spray on the motorway, to celebrate DDiL1's 50th birthday with a big family party at their home. We had a great afternoon, it's not often we have our three sons, partners and grandchildren all in the one place. The Wee Boy enjoyed playing with his big cousins and their cousins, all the children had a great time. My sister and brother were there too, so my grandchildren had aunties, uncles and greats as well! DDiL had a lovely day and it was good to catch up with her parents, siblings, auntie and cousins again, we last saw them at DS1'S 50th garden party in the summer.

Relaxing evening in front of the TV 📺 now. I'm disappointed in the latest episodes of The Crown, not a patch on Seasons 1 and 2.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday evening. TOYA, NNGB.

Grannmarie Sun 17-Dec-23 20:40:42

Neine, I thought of you yesterday with your ' lost sheep' ! Hope your activity went well, I'm sure the children enjoyed it.

cornergran Sun 17-Dec-23 20:55:12

Pleased to report my sniffles are still sniffling, no worse. My plan is to ignore them. Working so far smile.

Hope your home is drying nicely sued it’s surprising how long the damp hangs around. You’ll be fine soon I’m sure.

Sounds an excellent lunch urms. Lovely to be part of an established group.

The one visitor at a time sounds like covid restrictions dusty. Mr C’s recent stay was in a specialist cardiac hospital which allowed two visitors and turned a blind eye to three when he was in his own room in ITU and again on the ward. Your husbands surgeon sounds positive, good news for sure. There’s time for pre-Christmas discharge if that’s the right thing to do. In the meantime please look after yourself, hospital visiting is exhausting and can be stressful too.

I’m not so sure my brain has survived a two hour call from our goddaughter so I’ll wish you all a good evening and restful night before I say anything even more daft than usual.

TOYA.

Grandmabatty Sun 17-Dec-23 21:08:04

Dustyangel all my best wishes to your dh for a full recovery. You look after yourself too. Grannmarie " I know that panto! *Cornergran don't overdo things. Urmston it sounds like you all had a lovely time. Brook I'm with you on the early morning call.
I bought the last of the Christmas presents this morning. Did a spot of housework, then visited mum in the afternoon. Later I wrapped over half of the gifts and then tidied up the kitchen in preparation for a busy day with dgs2 tomorrow. I'm going to have an early night. Night all. Take vare

Grannmarie Sun 17-Dec-23 21:59:13

Grandmabatty 🤣 A lad in Falkirk...
An entertaining show, including The Kelpies, and a huge, brilliant Chinese dragon!🐲 Lots of hard work has gone into it. A few glitches with the sound system, but a very enthusiastic show.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 18-Dec-23 16:25:08

Hello kitchen people.
We’ve bought our tree! We drove to a small farm and bought, what we hope is the perfect tree. It is currently outside in a bucket of water. OH will bring it in tomorrow and I’ll decorate it. Because it’s only a week before Christmas we had 20% discount. It still cost several arms and legs.
I’ve just printed a list of family and the presents I’ve/we’ve bought them! Does anyone else have to do that?
I think tonight’s dinner is leftover chicken casserole and treacle pudding from yesterday.
I hope you’ve all had a good day, especially those of you with difficulties.
There aren’t many things nicer than snuggling up on the sofa with a cat.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 18-Dec-23 16:26:51

This is Milo, who manages to snore and purr simultaneously!

soop Mon 18-Dec-23 16:55:33

Dear you lovely lot, I have come into our kitchen to apologise for being absent for longer than I anticipated. We have had visitors, after which, it's been a rush to catch up with jobs that should have been done and dusted long before now.

Tomorrow we have dental appointments. After which, our neighbours will be calling in. I am hoping that, at sometime in the afternoon, I shall have the opportunity to catch up with your happenings.

annsixty Please stay with us. flowers

You are never far from my thoughts. smile moon

Jaxjacky Mon 18-Dec-23 17:12:33

Hi all, another dull day outside, means it gets dark early, or so it seems.
Day on the voluntary phone, from Thursday we’re shut until 4th January.
I did go for a walk and then fuel up my car, Christmas quiz tonight, festive garb is ready and we’re revising 🙂.
Hoping for improving news of your man dusty.
Enjoy your evening all.

Grandmabatty Mon 18-Dec-23 17:41:54

Good afternoon kitcheners. Grannmarie that's what I thought it was! Years ago I wrote a pantomime for the school called A lad in Camelon. Ladyleftfieldlover I have a notebook going back years with all the gifts bought and how much. It's so I don't replicate and everyone gets the same amount.
Today dgs2 and I posted his mummy's Christmas cards for her.i bought a Radio Times too. Then we toddled to the medical centre for my prescription which will see me into the new year. Later this afternoon dgs1 and dgs2 were playing and dgs2's head hit dgs1's nose with force. Many tears and much blood ensued. I've dropped them off home and I'm having a quiet half hour before I make dinner. Then I'll marzipan and ice my Christmas cake. Enjoy your evening all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 18-Dec-23 17:45:28

I should have said that the list is for OH! He takes no part in the present buying exercise but likes to know what I’ve bought everyone! I keep a record on my computer.

brook2704 Mon 18-Dec-23 17:52:39

Good afternoon kitchen pals, just coming into the kitchen for a sit by the fire. I’ve had a bit of a whirlwind day but all good. Dropped DGS off at school, back home for a quick tidy and to let the workmen in, a festive coffee and enormous mince pie at the volunteering centre, a aqua class at the gym and finally a trip to Aldi and Tesco. There’s lots of 15p bargain bags of veggies around in Aldi and price matched at Tesco.
Tomorrow I’m looking forward to going down to Cambridge for early Christmas celebrations with DD1 and family. She’s already got me lined up for babysitting 2 nights, cheeky girl 🤣
Nothing like having a real tree llfl enjoy 🌲
Hope the dentist goes ok tomorrow soop
Good luck in tonight’s quiz Jax I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you 🤞

brook2704 Mon 18-Dec-23 17:57:05

I looked at the Radio Times today in Tesco grandmabatty I was almost tempted but £5.50! I’ll have to rely on you to give us some recommendations on what to watch 😀
Poor wee boys! Hope the bumps and bruises go soon

Grannmarie Mon 18-Dec-23 18:31:06

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Hope all goes well for you both at the dentist, Soop, "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth!" 🎶🎵😷 Enjoy your catch up with your neighbours.

Enjoy your Christmas quiz this evening, Jaxjacky, sounds like a good night out. I'm going to watch my TV 📺 quizzes soon.

Your tree 🎄 sounds lovely, Ladyleftfieldlover. We always had a real tree when our boys were wee, we always bought it a week before Christmas so that it lasted !

Grandmabatty, I keep a similar notebook 📔 ! Sorry to hear about your wee boys banging heads together, what a shame. Hope they're OK.

Brook, you've been busy! Safe journey to Cambridge, enjoy your family Christmas celebrations.

I've been catching up in the house after our busy weekend. Monday is washing day....
Then I sat at the table and wrote my last batch of Christmas cards, a dozen for the neighbours. I checked my list, I have now written 93 cards, all done! Some are to former colleagues , our only contact now.

Tomorrow, I'll take DH to our local hospital for his day surgery procedure which was not completed last time. Fingers crossed 🤞 everything goes well for him this time. Dusty, I'll be thinking of you when I'm trying to park the car! I drop DH at the entrance, spend ages finding a space, then I have to hurry to the foyer to get a wheel chair to take DH the distance to the Day Surgery unit, he can only walk very short distances. I do hope MrD is on the road to recovery. Look after yourself too!

Thinking of you all, especially those with illness, worries or sorrow. Take care.

Grandmabatty Mon 18-Dec-23 18:33:00

Brook it is a Christmas indulgence for me. I'll carefully mark everything I want to see and hear. Dgs1 is a bit emotional these days because he's wakening up much too early and is tired early too. Christmas excitement. Both were fine when I dropped them off.

Grandmabatty Mon 18-Dec-23 18:34:20

Grannmarie best wishes for tomorrow for your DH.

Jaxjacky Mon 18-Dec-23 18:43:24

Granmabatty me too with the Radio Times, I’ve bought this weeks and the Christmas one, Green highlighter in use!
brook ‘The Heist Before Christmas, 23rd, on Sky Max if you have it, is on our must watch list.

Yiayia4 Mon 18-Dec-23 19:02:28

Hello Kitcheners, well after 2 months I have covid again also DH.We both feel rubbish so much worse than last time.Have spent 3 days in bed.I feel a bit better this evening but DH is coughing for England.
Sorry can’t catch up with you all today have a good evening.

Grandmabatty Mon 18-Dec-23 19:08:28

Yiayia how horrible for you both. Take lots of fluids. X💐

Nannytopsy Mon 18-Dec-23 19:19:02

LLFL we are in the same position - we got the tree this morning and it’s in a bucket of water. Tomorrow is Christmas decorations and maybe marzipan and ice the cake. This afternoon I have made two cushions for sis IL for Christmas.
We took DIL’s dogs to the field today, as they are too strong for us or the dog sitter to walk. Also took two miniature dachshunds, one of whom decided the car was the place to poo. 🤢. I was a very unhappy person!! Of course they walked in it, trod the lead into it etc.
The smell …
Good luck at the dentist soop - not my favourite way to spend time.
Dusty, I hope your husband is doing well and will be home soon.
Sleep well everyone 💤

Blossoming Mon 18-Dec-23 20:00:18

Good evening dear Kitcheners. What rotten luck Yia, I hope you both feel better soon. Thinking also of Dustyangel’s DH. Hope the dentist goes well tomorrow Soop.
Despite my expertise at catching any bugs going I have never had Covid. I do get impatient with the mollycoddling by MrB but I know he’s right a lot of the time.
Today I finally finished writing the Christmas cards and walked to the post box all by myself. It’s across the bridge, not too far but enough to stretch my legs and breathe the fresh air. It has been dark, drizzly and gloomy all day, some interesting light effects, very atmospheric.

Have a peaceful night and sleep well 😴

There is a Christmas tree and star in this photo of the boatyard!

Urmstongran Mon 18-Dec-23 20:02:34

‘Evening All’.

Just popping in to say that, really.
I slept spectacularly badly last night and I’ve had a busy day so I’m about to get ready for bed. Himself is using the bathroom. I’m next.
My bed and sleep are my safe space. They call to me. Oblivion. I’m grateful for it some days when I’m feeling emotional and melancholy.
