annsixty

Once again attacked on another thread for expressing my view which seems to be very unpopular but to be called lacking in compassion is a hard pill for me to swallow.
I am obviously very at odds with others views.
I feel increasingly that GN is not for me, I am too old and out of touch.

Cheer up Annsixty those of us who have known you for years know that comment says more about whoever said it than about you.
Being at odds with the views of others should be a source of pride when you would never wish to be identified them anyway.
I had to swallow a similar comment not so long ago accusing me of a “lack of empathy and objectivity.” Ouch.
It’s a source of wonder how total strangers somehow feel they have the right to be rude and dismissive from a safe distance.

Now, what baked goods are on the side this evening?
My non-existent JANUARY diet needs BREAKING

Urms...an extra special hug coming your way. You are one brave lady xxx

Hello everyone. Baggs has asked me to let you know that she has arrived safely at DD’s house after a horrendous drive in ‘fierce rain, fiercer road spray and ferocious crosswinds’.

She sends her love. ❤️

Jaxjacky Tue 23-Jan-24 21:04:06

Thank you baubles that sounds horrible, I’m pleased she’s safe, with her daughter and family.

annsixty Tue 23-Jan-24 21:25:37

My S arrived here about two hours ago after an overnight stay from work in Livingstone.I live not many miles as the crow flies from * Baggs* DD.
I can confirm how bad the journey must have been.
Some lorries blown over on motorways and several diversions.
I wish her, her DD and her family well and our most helpful vibes go to them all

benjamina Tue 23-Jan-24 21:57:31

Hello from a blustery North West,
I am happy to see annsixty still posting. I enjoy her posts and would hate for her to feel she has to leave just because she has an opinion. It is hard when someone is nasty but as others have rightly said - it says more about them than you.
I have read the replies and there is great advice
Naughtyneine your words are spot on tonight.
I read this thread and know Baggs and Urms are living through very hard times just now. I don't have a faith but can send you my sincere caring thoughts - hope I did not leave anyone out - that's one of the reasons I don't post much - I would hate to upset anyone by leaving them out. Also I wonder if I have enough to say - I have rambled on here so maybe I have!
Hopefully be back with you all tomorrow x

Thank you for letting us know that Baggs has arrived safely. I am sure all our thoughts are with her and her family.

Sleep tight Urms flowers

Thank you for the update Baubles ❤️

Benjamina I don’t have a lot to post about but I love being part of this community. I do miss people out when I’m tired or struggling with vision and typing, I catch up as best as I can reading the posts and everyone here knows I care x

benjamina Tue 23-Jan-24 23:09:31

Blossoming
I totally "get" what you are saying
Thank you x

Grannmarie Tue 23-Jan-24 23:15:47

Thank you, Baubles, it's reassuring to know that Baggs has arrived safely and is with her dear daughter now. Sending love and prayers. 💕🙏

Dear Urms, I'm so sorry to hear your news, hoping and praying that the new treatment will be helpful. 💕🙏

Annsixty, stay with us, Soop's Kitchen is our refuge from the scary side of GN.

Hello 👋 and welcome, benjamina!

Wise words, Neine. I seldom post on other threads, apart from some games, but you're right, this special Kitchen is our safe place.

I hope things went well for the Soops, what a terrible day for the journey on that tricky road.

I hope the brooks have a safe and uneventful journey home.

Acting upon weather advice my sister cancelled the Rainbows and Brownies for this evening, tomorrow's Coffee Morning is cancelled too. Time to stay cosy indoors.
TOYA, NNGB.

Grannmarie Tue 23-Jan-24 23:17:25

Crossed posts, Blossoming, I hope you and MrB are keeping well. 🥰

cornergran Tue 23-Jan-24 23:25:44

Thank you baubles, good to know baggs has arrived safely.

As usual I’ve no idea what went on elsewhere ann, anonymity can breed rudeness it seems. The Kitchen and indeed GN would be a poorer place without you.

It’s a wild night here, even though we’re low down and pretty well protected the wind is howling and will undoubtedly keep me awake. Hope you will do much better urms, sleep well

Hello benjamina. These days I find it impossible to mention everyone by name, please don’t worry about missing people, we all understand.

Goodnight everyone. TOYA

Blossoming Tue 23-Jan-24 23:29:32

Thank you *Grannmarie” we’re doing fine. MrB has just brought me a hot chocolate so I think he’s a keeper 😊

A very warm welcome to dear benjamina. flowers

Urms Both you and your husband are very special people. smile

baubles Thank you for the news update from Baggs

Our seventy mile round trip to Oban hospital was horrendous. Flooded roads, high wind, windscreen wipers hardly able to cope with the torrential rain. And now we await another storm as it approaches.

Mr Soop had his scan. The results will be forwarded to our GP and the haematologist in due course. The haematologist, until fairly recently, attended Oban hospital and Mr Soop would have appointments every few months. Now he's at the Beatson Cancer hospital in Glasgow. This will mean a separate journey to Glasgow.

Right now, he's having his scalp treated. Bless him, he is such a good natured man and never complains.

soop Wed 24-Jan-24 14:32:06

Nannytopsy That is super special news for us lot to celebrate in our Kitchen. Big hugs.

soop Wed 24-Jan-24 14:37:37

annsixty You are safe here in the Kitchen. Rest assured, you will never have to fear us lot. We are all entitled to an opinion. It doesn't necessarily follow that every one will agree...that's life. Turn the other cheek, wrap the tartan rug around your knees, have a brew and eat cupcake. grin

soop Wed 24-Jan-24 16:57:50

Mr Soop returned home wearing a protective scalp turban. He has special jolop to be smeared on the lesions daily. I need to get the hang of creating a fresh turban after each application.

Stay warm and safe. smile moon

Grandmabatty Wed 24-Jan-24 18:37:13

Afternoon all. I have picked up the virus from dgs1. I have a very sore throat and feel quite unwell. Poor dgs1 is still really poorly. He's been back to the doctor's and it's definitely viral but he can't sleep and has bad headaches. I'm going to bed soon because I have a potentially difficult meeting with my brother tomorrow and I need a clear head for it. Oh dear, why are families hard work?

Jaxjacky Wed 24-Jan-24 19:20:48

A big welcome Benjamina to this cosy thread.
Oh Mrsoop isn’t having the best of times, he’ll have a warm head though and you’ll have a new skill soop.
That’s really Sod’s Law Grandmabatty I hope you get the best night’s sleep and are recovering/dosed up enough to manage tomorrow.
Not raining today, a little tidying in the kitchen made me happy, I dislike clutter. Blood taken to check cholesterol after three months of statins, I’m hoping they’ve made a difference and I’ve tied up a climber that was reluctant to do its job.
A long call to ‘discuss’ a proposed hike in our house insurance (after spending an hour or so on comparison sites), instead of plus £52, it’s plus £20, not bad.
Baggs with her daughter and Urms with himself, thinking of you both.

Urmstongran Wed 24-Jan-24 20:00:37

‘Evening All’.

Well guess what? I found my lost earring today! Absolutely serendipitous occurrence as I opened my pot where I only keep a choice of watches and there it was as I pulled a watch out - just sitting there winking at me! Yay!

I assumed I’d lost it taking my jumper off in the x-ray department last week. I’d even rung the hospital reception in there to have a look round for me. A lovely lady rang me the next day to say no luck sadly and she’d also asked the cleaners to keep a good eye out.

I shall be going to the MacMillan centre in the hospital grounds on Friday and plan to pop into the XRD with a tin of biscuits to say thank you for taking the time to look and let them know that it turned up today.

One very happy bunny this evening as this pair of earrings have a very special sentimental value for me - bought in Málaga by Himself a few years ago. I shall really concentrate more in future! Only when I thought I’d lost one did I truly appreciate just how much they mean to me.

I’ve thought about you often today Baggs. x

Urmstongran Wed 24-Jan-24 20:19:15

Apologies - I meant also to say ‘hi’ to you benjamina 👋
It is lovely to have you join us. Soop opens her heart as well as her kitchen to all who find their way in here. It’s such a comforting and welcoming place.

Scapa1 Wed 24-Jan-24 20:34:14

Evening everyone. I am looking forward to a quieter night as the wind has died down now. Ear plugs helped but kept falling out! Is it possible to have wrong shaped ears? Like many others I have decided to do a bit of clearing out. I collected pens, pencils felt tipped pens glue sticks, postits etc from all drawers and boxes around the house. What a collection all from my days as a teacher. Have culled them and thrown out all the dud ones, now wondering what to do with the rest, seems a shame to throw them out. May see if the local primary school wants them.
Thinking tonight of all the poorlies and their families and wishing them peace.

cornergran Wed 24-Jan-24 20:39:31

Get better soon grandmab. Currently I share your sentiments about families!

Good news about your earring urms

I’m sure you’ll have no problem with the turbans soop. Hope mr soop is ok.

Hooray jax. You did well with the insurance.

Have a good evening everyone. TOYA.
