I don’t think I can catch up with everyone but my heart is with Baggs and her darling daughter and family. Also Urms and her lovely man. Welcome to Benjamina too.

I am feeling better than I was and hope I’ve turned a corner now, with help from professionals. There is also light on the horizon for the reparation of our house after the flood. A surveyor is arriving Monday to organise the stripping out that will need to be done so I hope that finally things will get moving.

Dd2 is coming for a visit next week, which we’re looking forward to very much. She’s hoping to bring a surprise visitor with her - I’ll let you all know in due course!

We’re still in Tenerife for a couple more weeks grannmarie apologies for any confusion - we’re not ready to go back to the Scottish weather just yet. Today has been much more relaxing, we looked round the Botanical gardens in Puerto de la Cruz and sat and watched the world go by. Back in the apartment now for an early night

I have been on here a while but have not posted much
I am aiming to do much better!
Today we took my lovely MIL to hospital for her results from her scan. She gets short of breath but is amazing for almost 90 (in august)
The doctor was really pleased and said they will send for her again in November for a follow up scan
I knew her reply before she said it........ "if I am still here" she said with a smile - she really is a lovely soul with a wicked sense of humour .
Had 2 of my grandsons (7 and 15) over for their tea earlier - just relaxing now - taking MIL shopping tomorrow.

Hello all, the weather has been foul again but the wind has finally dropped and I’m hoping to sleep better tonight. Although it doesn’t feel cold there’s a pretty sprinkling of frost on the shrubs, twinkling in the light of the almost full moon.

I hope MrSoop has started to heal, you’ll be creating turbans like a pro in no time Soop and as Jax has said it’ll keep his head nice and warm.

So glad you found your earring Urms, it is quite upsetting to lose something like that.

Thank you for all the kind messages regarding poorly Mr Soop I have redressed his scalp. One lesion in particular is raw and bloody. He returns to the surgery every week for a professional appraisal.

I am reading one of Richard Osman's humorous who-done-its. The book was one of a collection of used books on sale in the hospital shop. It is delightful. Have any of you read his books? Every so often, I guffaw. Then I need to explain to Mr Soop what it is that has tickled me.

Hello other kitchen people. I’ve just got back from my book group. There were 12 of us. We have decided to extend the meeting time as there are so many of us.

There is a Bol in the oven for dinner which I’ll tart up later.

Earlier I had lunch out with a friend, parsnip soup, there’s swede on the hob now, preparing for tonight’s haggis dinner with my brother and his wife. No wee drams, they’re driving and neither of us like it, years ago I was a malt lover.

Took MIL shopping -Sainsburys & small m & s food hall - she always tells me this is her hi-lite of the week - 2 shops and coffee & biscuits at mine. She is honestly a pleasure to be with. I know I am lucky.

So pleased you found the earring urms I lost one years ago that my very precious mum bought me (I lost her in 2012).
Every time I open my jewellry box and I see the remaining one it haunts me as to where I lost it. So I am very happy you found yours,

Good evening kitchen pals, another lovely day here. We got the local bus up to Mt Teide, really impressed with the bus driver on the steep twisty narrow mountain roads. We walked a couple of the mountain trails, the scenery and views were spectacular and we had an ice cream at the Parador. It was quite busy with lots of people up there today, luckily no rumblings from the volcano though. We got back to the apartment and made a quick chicken salad and chips to enjoy on the balcony. Most locals are still out and about but we’re ready for bed as usual 😴

Benjamina we’ve also been to Fuerteventura and had bad weather - just unlucky I guess. I’d been expecting much cooler and cloudier weather here in North Tenerife but its been really warm and sunny

Evening Kitcheners. I'm still feeling a bit meh. The sore throat has subsided but I have a headache now. Thank you Benjamina and a hearty welcome to the kitchen. Thank you to Yiayia and Blossoming too. I hope I haven't missed anyone out. Soop I have rested a lot today. I'm quite bored now.
Brook the meeting went surprisingly well. Which is always a concern 😂. At one point he got quite emotional. I can sympathise but I have to be careful because he's a grade A chancer. As I suspected he'd still using mum's bank account to pay for bills and she's been in hospital for nine months. I made it very clear he has to migrate the bills to his account. My aunt phoned to tell me that my uncle has had a slight stroke while they are in Spain. My heart aches for her being far away from family. He's still in hospital. They had planned to be there for three months but will come back earlier as soon as he gets permission to fly. Its been a difficult day really. I'm watching Jaws, a nice, cheery film. 😂 But I'll probably go to bed soon. I'm thinking of you all

Urms I hate losing things... I'd rather give them away. When we had to wear masks I was always losing my right earring... they were done off my favourites too. It's just lovely that you found yours.
Yia... Are you both recovered now... The 100 day cough is very aptly named methinks.
Jax... You reminded me that I've a haggis in the freezer...I did go searching for it but came across 2 lovely looking steaks that just fell into my hands so it would have been rude not to have them instead.
Soop..lots of wincing from me whilst reading about Mr Soop... He has the best head nurse to help him through though. I hope it begins to heal soon.
My lovely friend and colleague lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on Monday. She was 53. She told me in August that she only had months to live. I prayed she wouldn't suffer... That was all I could do. She is at peace now. She had a huge fondness for boots....all colours...all styles and quite often they would match her nails. She had the most beautiful smile too. I'll keep those memories uppermost.

Aww, Niene, I'm so sorry to read about your dear friend. So young, 53 is no age at all. May God bless her and grant her Eternal Rest. 🕯 Thinking of you, I hope your special memories of her bring you some comfort.

It's dry but windy here. I went shopping after Mass, I needed nine - yes nine!- cards for family and friends celebrating birthdays in the month of February. I'm making one of my never ending lists to make sure all gifts are organised and no one is missed. The Wee Boy will be four, his Mummy, Daddy, uncle, cousin and other granny all have birthdays in the same week!

This isn't getting the work done, as my Daddy used to say.... wishing everyone a peaceful Friday, take care.

We’ve had another lovely day here, a trip out on the bus to Garachico which is a gorgeous old fishing town. We ambled about up and down the narrow streets, sat in the square for a while in the shade and had wine and tapas in a pavement cafe. Tonight we’re hoping to go down into Puerto de la Cruz if we can summon up enough energy.
That’s such a lot of birthdays all together grannmarie I bet it takes some organising.

Hello Grandmarie,looks like you have an expensive February.DH’s cough seems to be improving at last, but he’s to have a chest X ray on Monday seems to be a standard procedure after a lingering cough.
I picked DGS3 up from school today for a doctors appointment.Poor boy suffers from eczema and he’s been going mad with the itching.Hopefully the new medication will help.He wasn’t very keen on going back to school but I said to him at least it’s Friday.😀

Hello kitchen people. So much sadness on here today. I’m thinking of you all.

I attended an excellent lecture at the local branch of the Arts Society. It was about Dame Laura Knight.

Our gardener popped over and pruned all the roses and dug up the Rose of Sharon, which I’ve never liked. I have seen a blue Mallow which I think we’ll put in it’s place.

OH and I had a delicious lunch at one of our favourite restaurants, I have never seen OH so enthused about a meal - he thanked the chef! The restaurant has a small library so while waiting for our food, OH enjoyed reading Diary of a Nobody.

I’m collapsed on the sofa now with both cats keeping me company. Milo manages to snore and purr simultaneously.
