So sorry for the loss of your friend Neine she sounds like a lovely lady. Another busy time Grannmarie, MrB’s birthday is in February, same day as one of my little great nephews.

Enjoy your cycling and Scrabble Soop. MrB is dyslexic and refuses to play so I have to settle for playing online.

Hope your DH is doing better Yia and the X-ray result is good. Your poor GS, eczema is such a distressing condition and not easily controlled.

It’s getting very chilly here, freezing temperatures forecast over night. MrB is cooking sausages with onion gravy and baked potatoes for dinner with whatever veg we have. Should warm us up nicely.

Hello everyone! I am back home after a sometimes distressing few days. Seeing a darling daughter in agonising pain and being unable to help is what no mother wants.

BTDD could not have a better partner to care for her and my grandsons could not have a better father. I think though that palliative care, especially with regard to pain control in DD's case, has a way to go. Communication between hospitals, GPs, District Nurses, etc, apparently leaves serious room for improvement too.

Today was a better day for DD than she has been having. Let's hope this continues and that the right preventive/dulling treatment has been hit upon at last. Sometimes I felt the medics were just winging it. Perhaps that is inevitable but it sure is hard on patients and anyone observing their trauma.

I shall pay another visit next month. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Don’t normally post on this thread but pop in for a catchup of everyone’s news and wanted to wish Baggs (and her family) a peaceful weekend.

You're an inspiration with your calm and measured way of dealing with this horrible situation and my heart goes out to you ❤️

Hi, a sunny day with a keen wind on my walk, good you were out again Blossoming.
No such wind for you brook I like Tenerife, only visited the north once though, we stayed south in Los Gigantes a few times some years ago.
July is my busy birthday month Grannmarie, plenty of time yet.
How very sad neine far too young 🥀.
Our haggis evening was great, my brother and wife are having an extension on their kitchen and were very grateful for some warmth, normality and proper grub. We played board games and will do it again soon.
Baggs your daughter has the best family, hopefully more coordinated care is kicking in to support you all.

My thoughts are with Baggs and her darling daughter and family. Also Urms and her lovely man. Welcome to Benjamina too.
We are home, leaving the little family together. DGS is intrigued by this new thing in his life - doesn’t really know what it is!
A quick peek at our little miss, as she was leaving hospital.
I have had hospital contact - my TKR will be in March! We have sneaked in a trip to Madeira at the end of February.

My heart goes out to you and your family Baggs. Good Palliative care needs to be gold standard. I hope the necessary measures are firmly in place now so that your darling girl can remain comfortable and in control of her needs. That in itself will help to alleviate some of your family’s anguish I expect.

Hi to all in the kitchen (a busy one it seems)

My day was quite nice - I went to hairdressers which was great to get a few good inches chopped off the scraggy mess its become but quite sad to catch up with people in there who had sad losses over Christmas and new year. I never did like January (or February or March) April is hanging on by the skin of its teeth if I am honest.

Think I am a summer person at heart.

Talking of hearts my heart went out to Baggs and family when I read this thread - I have had illness myself but to see your children in this situation is so cruel and I can only send much love & strength your way.

So sorry about your friend Naughtyneine she sounds like a lovely woman - So young though. Life is not fair at all it seems. When you said she had a lovely smile I thought that was such a nice thing to say - heartfelt.

Soop I can picture you on that bike pedalling to "Dont stop me now" - I have a bike but its earmarked for the charity shop! Me and the bike just never got on - think its that tortuous saddle!

Blossoming enjoy your walking - I am doing that but not balanced out - some days I can do 10000 steps some I only do 1500 - must get a plan together.

grandmabatty hope everything goes well with your brother - you gave me a giggle with your choice of film after the day you had.

Baggs so sorry you had to see your DD in such pain. I hope the right medication is now in place and she has a more peaceful night. Your SIL sounds a good man. I’m glad your grandsons have someone kind and caring to turn to. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family.

My dear Dad had a brain tumour and once his pain was under control we had some lovely gentle times together that we could cherish.x

I’ve removed these that BTDD made a while back from the yarn-bombing bench blanket that they were sewn on to. That will go in a textile recycling bag.

The teapot, plate of biscuits and cup of tea I’ll take to the local day centre for people with dementia

Oh Baggs do keep something back for yourself. That tea set up looks wonderful. Your darling girl was so clever.

I don’t join in with this gentle thread but I like to read it from time to time, and I just wanted to say to Baggs - I am sending you, your DD and your whole family love and thoughts at this desperately sad time. You are so brave and dignified, and thoughtful of others even while your heart is breaking. I hope your DD’s suffering can be managed and the following weeks and months can bring some peace and comfort to you all

Dear Baggs the knitted tea set is a work of art. I would not be able to part with it. You have a whole army of supporters. We all wish you and your precious family the wherewithal to remain strong. Pain control should surely top the list of priorities at this stage in your daughter's illness. Mr Soop and I are with you in thought every single day. You are a very special lady.

I am about to treat Mr Soop's scalp. A sample of the lesions has been sent to the lab. I do my best to be gentle, although I am aware of him wincing as I apply the steroid ointment.

It's hard to lose someone who knows both the good and bad about you, and sticks around nevertheless. Baggs I hope your daughter gets the correct medication as quickly as possible.
Today was shopping, washing and housework. All accomplished. I was supposed to be having one of the boys, but dd made other arrangements. I was a bit sad, however I slept for two hours this afternoon, so it was the right decision. My aunt sent a film of my uncle walking unaided which was lovely to see. That will have made her feel much better,I'm sure. I decided to have a picnic dinner. Tuna sandwich, crisps, brie and pickled onions. Yum. I'm quite full up now and waiting for an Amazon delivery of pastelmat paper for art class. So a good day in many ways. I hope you all have a good evening

News from SiL today is that the changed and bumped up meds seem to be doing what they're supposed to do at last and DD did not suffer the horrific pain spasms that she has been having and which were so distressing to witness. Thank goodness! That is all down to his calm persistence with the whole gamut of medics he has to deal with.

Do not worry about the crocheted tea party. It will only be on loan at the day care centre. One of DD's sisters might want to have it anyway. 🫖☕️🍪
