I left lots of hair on the floor at the hairdresser’s and I am pleased with the result. I did some good shopping this morning and tomorrow I intend to get on with cards, presents etc.

I am only sending 7 cards this year but each has had a letter enclosed. I received a card from a so called friend and just signed. I do not know where she is living, in England, Spain or pottering between the two. A total waste of money but I am a miserable git. I will tidy up and that will be it finished for another year. Gone are the days when I sent 45+. I would be bankrupt at today's prices.

SueD I do feel for you because so many firms pack up around now. At least you will be warm where you are. It could be worse!

catterygirl the month will fly by but that was unfortunate. At least you can see gradual improvement.

Night ladies. Hope you all sleep well. OH just put antibiotic cream in my eye so using my left eye to type. Well who uses an eye to type but you know what I mean.

I'm taking a break from Domestic Goddess duties (not) to catch up on all the news. In a moment of madness (another one I hear you all mutter). I invited the neighbours from our little area for a Christmas get together tonight...and yes I know it's highly unlikely they will be checking the state of my skirting boards but just in case they've been washed along with various other areas like the top of the extractor fan...etc. The aga is gleaming too and all dog beds are sweet smelling once more ( not for long but for now the eau de wet dog had been replaced by winter spice!!!!). Most people will have not been home long from work so I'm doing jacket potatoes with various fillings in lieu of lots of finger food. There will of course be mince pies...with thick cream.
SueD... We 'camped' out at the Travel Lodge in between selling and buying...like you say it's warm and dry. I do hope the work is done soon though and you can get home.
GrandmaB... I'm wishing you well ... There are so many bugs about it seems...and I understand only too well..the 'I haven't got time to be ill..there is so much to do'.

Urms ..I was thinking about you whilst I was hoovering ( no I don't know what the connection was either) but I remembered some years ago my Daughter3 gave me a a beautiful notebook with sequins and beads on the front....she said it was for me to write in my happy memories ( life was pretty grotty at the time in my marriage)....I included things that had made me happy at various stages in my life and then added more... Like days at the beach with the Grandchildren... Showing the twins how to roll down hills... the daughters weddings and more. It makes me smile when I read it and lifts my spirits when I'm feeling sad. I was thinking maybe you could do the same...

Cattery girl...I hope the month speeds by and you can ditch the painful meds and just enjoy being able to see clearly again.

Grandmarie.... Think of me tomorrow... Our parish priest has asked me to help prepare the children for their first communion... I've just read the lesson for tomorrow and it involves balloons and sticks which the children will use to shepherd their sheep ( the balloons) to illustrate Jesus the Good Shepherd knowing his flock and looking after them. What can possibly go wrong?

Yesterday I met up with a couple of friends for coffee etc. We had a good blether. I also posted the Christmas cards. Dgs1 said on Tuesday he was excited to see what Santa would leave him at my house too. And then it dawned on me that I had indeed bought playdough last year for him and it was under the tree for him. I have started a tradition I didn't intend to. Oh dear. So a game is arriving today and a painting mat for his wee brother. Both will remain at my house.
I need to walk to Aldi for bread or rolls then later I'll visit mum. I wish you all a good Friday

Good morning all… just about.
Nearly afternoon and I must get on, I am out again tonight with my GD and her best friend.
I felt very down and off colour yesterday and retreated to bed very early not really looking forward to going out but fortunately today I am looking forward to it.
My GD’s best friend, since they were three, is pregnant, the father is no longer in the picture and she is going it alone.
She has a lovely supportive family and we are rallying round but it is going to be hard for her.
These things happen.

It is dry but dull and quite mild.

My friend I saw on Wednesday has spoken with her D and she understands her mum’s mood.
Her Gs and his partner are also going to her D’s for Christmas and are taking her down with them so she is a bit brighter and actually looking forward to it so that is good.

I hope the Travel Lodge is proving okay for Sue and that the rest of you are getting in the Christmas spirit if you are able.
It is rather lacking in this household.
I am hoping it will arrive soon.

Good afternoon, dear Kitcheners. Mr Soo's swollen ankle and foot has been diagnosed as fluid retention. He has a course of seven tablets, after which, he'll return to the GP.

The blitz on the wardrobe too all afternoon to complete. I was shattered by the time I completed the task. Today's mission is to tidy all the bedroom drawers. Not such an irksome task...

I will endeavour to return after the job has been accomplished.

I haven’t watched the Repair shop for a while. We find the weeping a bit difficult!
Elder son is popping round this evening and will stay the night. He is helping OH move his beehives tomorrow to a new location. He knows someone with an organic farm and will put the hives in a little copse.
Soop - I clear my wardrobe out regularly and take things to charity shops - then today OH said to me - why don’t you buy a new dress for Christmas, in fact buy two!

I’m just home after a couple of classes at the gym, a dip in the warm pool and a soak in the jacuzzi - bliss. The workmen are still here finishing the tiling, it’s only a small en-suite room but it’s taking a while. I don’t really mind though as they’re doing a good job. They’ll be finishing soon today but back on Monday
Congratulations to your DD Roses well done to her, it sounds such a good idea to have an alternative career in case it’s needed - gives her much more flexibly too

Awww grandmabatty what a lovely tradition though, especially as your DGSs spend so much time at your house, no wonder Santa leaves them a little something at yours too. I really can’t believe that my almost 9yr and 10yr olds DGC still believe in Santa but I’ve not liked to ask - just in case! 🤣

Blossoming. Dh has had a cold/cough for almost two weeks now. Apparently, since Covid, there’s now a thing called Long Cold. Dh is not a complainer (that’s me ) so I think maybe that’s what he’s got. Dd2 also has it.

Thank you for all the commiserations over our flooding woes. Finally today two young chaps arrived armed with dehumidifiers and abundant strength to remove the sodden flooring from my house. They whizzed through it in less than 90 minutes. They clearly knew their stuff and told us the procedure going forward, though I’ve forgotten half of it now. Their main aim was to make it liveable for Christmas, sans carpets and seeing the amount of water coming from the machines, I think we’ll be able to move back in after the weekend.

I can’t tell you how pleased I was to see them so I gave them a tub of Heroes chocolates that I had put by, because they are indeed heroes to me! There’s obviously going to be a lot of upheaval to come but for now, we’ll make the most of Christmas - they were adamant we should get our tree in from the garden and decorate it, bless them. ❤️. So, onward we march!

Thank you for your nice comments on the sofa.We ordered it as soon as we moved and you never no until its in the room but, we are very pleased.So far apart from Australia I’ve sent 4 cards far to expensive and I’m sure most people feel the same.

Today I had breakfast with a friend, bought almost the last of the Christmas presents and went to Tesco where I bumped into DD, sil and the boys. I'm gently pottering and doing housework, a little at a time. Shortly I'll go out and deliver Christmas cards and can tick that off my to-do list. Spaghetti Bolognese for dinner later. I hope everyone is well and Brook is powering through her dusting.

brook Your treat will have lifted your spirits. It's always a pleasure to share time with a dear friend. My best friend of 53 years lives near Cheltenham. We are separated by hundreds of miles. I last saw her about ten years ago. We speak regularly on the 'phone. If she were to knock on our door, even after years of living far apart, we would naturally and easily pick up where we left off.

annsixty I am extremely cross to hear that you are leaving our kitchen because of some unkindness on another thread. You know us lot well enough to realise that we value your friendship. PLEASE stay.

My commiserations to all our Kitcheners who are feeling under the weather. Listen to your bodies. Try to relax and recover in time for the festivities.

Mr Soop is taking the tablets. His foot is a wee bit discoloured but he says that the swelling is slightly less than it was a couple of days ago. Thank you for caring.
